Haha, I’m glad I’m not the only one who does it, basing for me is as important as how the figures are going to be painted. Yeah, I do try to have minimal leftovers, doesn’t always work, but nice when it does 😁.
Great stuff lee, I hadn’t thought about having the same regiment modelled as mounted and dismounted but it’s a great idea. I see what you mean about not having to buy two sets of flags. I’m yet to find a base size I like for skirmish/dismounted troops but I like the ovals you’re using 👍 all the best
Cheers Matt, I appreciate it mate. Haha, these are the types of questions I’m always asking myself when doing a project, I have general brainstorming session at the start and then as the project progresses I’ll keep questioning things as it comes up. You’ll get to see our collection and our basing style when we meet up for our game, I’ll be in touch during the week 😁.
Thanks Sean, we are hoping to get these two units ready for a game we’ve got planned for next weekend. Then we will build another two mounted and dismounted units to finish the bridge 😁.
I have just counted up - I have ten boxes of that cavalry to paint. I had the same thought about that packing in those little boxes. I really hate the stuff :) I am on holiday next few weeks and am planning on painting 36 union dismounted cavalry and horse holders so this vid was good timing.
@@BattleBunkerHQ I have been pondering basing for the dismounted cavalry and was considering rounds but your ovals are quite cool - I might steal that idea.
You go for it Brian, glad you liked the idea 👍. I was the same, I couldn’t decide from square, rectangle or round. Then after a few cups of tea and a lot of pondering, I was basing the bridge commander on its oval base, I decided to see what they would look like on a smaller oval base and liked it. So, I went for 75mm x 42mm ovals from Warbases 😁.
@@BattleBunkerHQ I am not shipping bases from the UK to NZ - good thing there is a guy 40 minutes from where I am who makes me anything I want with regards to bases.
Oohhhh Perry's boxes of joy.... the fluffy stuff makes great smoke markers .. mount them on bases spray with grey paint ... voila
It certainly can be useful for that, we have a large bag of soft toy stuffing which we use for smoke and fire markers 😁.
Look great Lee, nice work on those boys in blue.
Thanks Jason, we hope you and the family are well, we must catch up at some point 😁.
Did much the same with mine, though hot with the oval bases. looking good!
Thanks Simon, I pondered for a few days on what base style and size to use for the dismounted cavalry 😁.
I do the same, messing about with bases and different configurations, always good if you can use all the minis.

Lovely looking army
Thank you Lucian 😁.

Hi Brian, thanks for watching. Wow, it sounds like you’re going to be very busy during your break, we’re glad our video is of some inspiration 😁.

🤣😂 No that is a bit extreme for some bases.
Well done!!
Thank you Phil 😁.
Looks great Lee. 👍
Thanks Jim, just waiting for flags and bases for the horse holders 😁.
Luvly
Thank you Barry, glad you like what we’ve done with these so far 😁.
Why is this a bonus video?
Because after our last video I was sitting with a brew thinking about this next stage, and I thought I’d share some of my thoughts.
We also don’t normally do two videos in a week 🤣👍
