  • The Bulgari Octo Roma underwent a well-deserved transformation this year, finally aligning it with its more extravagant counterpart, the Finissimo. These changes not only brought a pleasing sense of consistency throughout the collection but also infused a touch of added refinement into the more accessible yet equally delightful timepieces it offers.
Upon handling the watch, the first thing that sprung to attention was the radial brushing on the bezel, departing from the typical circular pattern. This particular finish aligned it with the Finissimo's aesthetics, yet it held a deeper significance. The radial brushing interacted with the light playfully, skillfully guiding their gaze towards the octagonally shaped dial. Classic hues of white, silver, and blue adorned the dial, contributing to its understated, luxurious allure. Notably, this version featured a subtle, tastefully executed clous de Paris pattern, adding a touch of texture to the overall design.
The finishing has a slight metallic shimmer and when combined with the pattern, creates a quite lush effect that adds depth whilst complementing the light play of the other dial furniture and case finishing. On this model the hour markers and indices are applied and lumed with Superluminova as are the hour and minute hands and there’s a date at 3 o’clock which is small and unobtrusive.
The bracelet is the standard Octo design but never ceases to impress. It’s supple, well articulated and nicely finished with polished central sections and chamfers for added elegance and sparkle. The lug width is narrower than on the Finissimo accentuating the curves of the Roma silhouette whilst minimising geometric blockiness. It also comes with an additional rubber strap with an interchangeable system, so you can easily dress it up or down depending on the setting: the bracelet for the office and the rubber for drinks after work. And let’s not forget its sporting DNA, the 100m of water resistance, up from the 50m in the previous version, will also get you to the beach at the weekend.
Inside the Roma has been tricked up with the in-house BVL191 automatic movement crafted in Switzerland. It offers 42 hours of power reserve at a decent 4Hz. The movement which is visible through an exhibition caseback is nicely finished with a signed rotor and cote de Genève striping to a level consistent with its price point.

42hrs PR? Is it really in-house or ETA variant?

Beautiful - Thought a black dial option would finish this collection off.

Amazing looking watch…I’d actually wear that and I can’t say that about many of their line

Beautiful watch, more understated than the Finissimo, but for an integrated bracelet watch, would still like to see it in a much smaller size.

I quite like the upgrade over the previous sunray dials on this model. I was always a fan of this watch, but I just thought it was missing something special and this dial might be it. However, I need to try one on in person first as I am leaning more and more to sub-40mm watches now as they just fit and feel better. Plus, I just bought the Baume & Mercier Riviera Baumatic in 39mm so the Bvlgari needs to seriously impress in order to surpass what I think is a phenomenal watch with a much longer power reserve.

Watch is stunning but I personally don't get the 42hr power reserve. I guess Bvlgari thought if Cartier can get away with 42hrs in Santos model then they can also do the same with Octa Roma.
60hrs is a minimum today to justify the purchase. Other than that the design really speaks to me

This one flies under the radar compared to some of the other (more expensive) options such as the Laureato or Ingenieur but, it's hard to see where it doesn't compete on style, finishing and plain, simple wow-factor.

When Tissot can offer 80hrs power reserve in an integrated bracelet for under $1000 then brands linke this and Breitling have some work to do... but TBH I love the appeal of the Roma and Bulgari are really impressing in the last few years.

the powermatic 80 is a detuned 2824 running at 3hz instead of 4z any brand can do this, it’s not an in house movement, it’s not special, it’s a boring consumer grade movement in a even more boring watch 😂

Don't choke on your snobbery. He is right, almost doubling the power reserve for a bit less hz is a nice trade-off. Yes, it is an inhouse movement but then what? 4hz 42h power reserve is almost 2824/SW200 level, nothing special here. And those can also be regulated to chronometer standards.
What's so special about this watch compared to the PRX? They look about the same. A little brushed and polished stainless steel. Dont you think those watches are built in a different way than Tissot etc.
"Boring consumer grade", as if the Bulgari is not a consumer product. Get the fuck out of here you marketing victim.

Great looking watch. I think white date wheel is actually a good thing for balance here - adding to the reduced index

Beautiful luxury watch, but I don't think that is quiet. The design stands out from other watches. This is the perfect one watch. Dress it up or down in a second. I want one.

Lol, the standard Nautilus has a 45 HR reserve with the 324SC movement and that's 30k.
