Would you take your child to a party where they are charging them extra money?

  • Imagine your child gets invited to a party for a 12 year old.
And they are asked to bring:
    - Snacks
    - Drinks
    - R350 (in cash only)
Cindy is really confused about the requirements in order for the children to attend the party.
Is this dodgy or is it the norm?

I agree with Anele, people must just live within their means, I'd rather not be invited anywhere if its going to mess with my finances.

I agree with Anele. We can’t compare it to adult birthday celebrations with kids. With kids l, it’s the parents responsibility to provide everything

Adult do this too and it has become the “norm” to “sponsor” peoples parties. I agree with Anele, plan the party that you can afford. What was the R350 for ?

I totally agree with Anele, host a party which you can afford. It makes no sense to ask 100 people to come to your party and be asking people to contribute financially for the party. Scale down or save for the longest time till you can afford to host .

If you can't afford to give your kid a party, just don't do it. Don't use people to please your child. It's embarrassing 😢😢

It is also irresponsible. Let’s normalise being realistic with our children. You can have a conversation with a 12 year old about what you can and cannot afford. It is not about breaking their hearts or not fulfilling a promise. It is about being honest about your finances.

It sounds like she didn't plan anything
She was going to use the money from the kids to buy food since they came with the snacks. She didn't buy anything for her kid at all..

That a go fund me party not a kid party, and why is the 350 is charged but it has there is no indication of what the money for. When there money money involved, the best advice is to put it in writing. And Anele why did you not ask nephew mom about this and why she did not tell you about this. Something is up avoid.

Bathong a party is not a democratic right. Kids and adults shouldn’t throw parties they cannot afford
