Untie from the dock, set up the deep sea fishing gear, and point the bow at the horizon. It feels amazing to be back in the Pacific Ocean! Moments after setting out we find Delos surrounded by 4 whales, then before the excitement can die down the whir of the rod jolts us into action. FISH ON!!! we scream. I'm a little rusty as the fishing was less than hot on the other side... But finally we remember how to do it and land a beautiful mackerel, followed by an amazingly huge mahi-mahi to boot. We successfully round Punta Mala, do a quick surf and head towards Isla Coiba for a week of scuba diving.

Still the best sailing channel around. You give this old, disabled guy, who definitely will never have sea legs again, a way to live vicariously through your adventures. I know, sounds sad, and it is a long, sad story that I'll spare you. Point is, thanks for what you do. Seriously.
Me too. At least I had the opportunity to sail with sea scouts off the coast of Baja in the late 70’. I have yearned to sail again but alas too may years have passed.

I am in the same boat I got to sail for a year but was not very good with the videos but Delos was my inspiration ❤ I went out and got a boat and I got sick and had 2 strokes after hurricane Irma got my boat so I am in the same boat you are now. But we still have Delos showing us the way.

It used to be me ,but I have been so deceived by Delos since the old crew left,
it feels so scripted ,"lets pretend to have fun for the camera in place of "we are having fun lets share it online".
and their constant baby grooming, commercials and demand for money while they already make soo much...there are so many real sailing chanels that need our support like Wind hippy, Sam Holmes ,The frenchman, Nahoa, Uma They may not be as slick but at list they do their own editing.
That's a Fin Whale (or Finback) and a young one, the largest adults reach 25+ meters. I've seen them multiple times in the Sea of Cortez and all the way up to San Diego, CA USA. Great stuff Delos Crew!!

I did it! Dreams do come true, finding this channel years ago sparked the desire and this week I finally learned how to sail thanks Cruiser Academy and senor Brady I'm CA-1 certified and can't wait to get back on a vessel.

I'm not a fisherman, is it crazy that you haven't caught a fish is so long you can't remember, and now 2 really nice catches this close together, or is it just that much better fishing in the Pacific?? On another note, it's really fun to see Jordan with you guys again... I started watching Delos long after she first sailed with you, have since gone back and binge watched all episodes. I got to know her on Expedition Drenched and really love her personality... Just like Taylor was, she's such a great fit with you guys...

The depth sounder issue is normal for the area you are sailing it. It is the halocline. Often referred to by Submariners as just "The Layer" What is happening is the massive currents and the steep Bathymetry gradients of the area forces cold and salty water up from the deep, and pushes "The Layer" closer to surface and concentrating it making its effects more pronounced. So much so, that your depth sounder is confusing "The Layer" for actual seabed.

what is delos? brian can fix anything and everything, if he can;t he gets help. he a skipper like no other . he kick started the myriad of sailing channels. looking back without actually looking the vids were shaky . mostly out of focus , but something was there, a life style , a dream , who knows , but here we are years later , still awed by this man and now his family , kudos brian n kaz

Hi guys, great video. You know what's really frustrating to me? I have been following you since about 7 or more years, you have been a huge source of inspiration for me to start cruising after retirement which we have been doing for 4 years now with my wife in the see of Cortez and Mexican pacific, among my bucket list things to do was to meet you guys (Brian, Karen and the magnificent Nugget) personally sometime, and now that you are currently in Paradise Village in PV almost next to our boat, (our boat Chapala is sitting at dock A) we can't be there because I am recovering from knee surgery at home in Guadalajara. Well maybe some other time, but it's frustrating. Any way hope you the best and enjoy the see of Cortez, I am sure you will find it to be one of the most interesting places you have been to now that you are completing the full circle. That was a trophy Mahi. Beautiful and best to live off the see for fresh protein. One of my favorite fish, cannot imagine having it that fresh. The first fish is a Pacific Sierra Mackerel. They look like big golden trout. That was fun to watch and always bummed when it ends until the next one. 🤗

In the Sea of Cortez, your first fish is commonly called a SIERRA. They are a type of mackerel. They are also good smoked. (although hard to keep lit.) ;-)

That is the biggest mahi I've ever seen and leaving hanalei Bay Kauai we caught so many of them we had to stop fishing. They are very colorful beautiful fish and every time we brought one in I almost hoped we caught its mate so it wouldn't be lonely and sad. In fact one time I think we did one and then the other within minutes.
