    A compilation of car crashes from the Greater Vancouver Area / Lower Mainland.
    Part 3.
    The long awaited Vancouver Crash Compilation 3 is finally here!
    Most of the crashes aren't as serious as the ones from the previous videos, but still a good video overall.
    I'm noticing a trend in these videos. The first compilation was mostly t-bones, second one had a ton of rear-enders, and this one is filled with sideswipes.
    Clips 19 and 20 are both parking hit and runs. Both drivers were reported and charged with hit and run.
    Hope you enjoy the video, and don't forget to rate and comment.

    After viewing these kinds of videos, I installed a dash cam in my old beater; just a bit more 'insurance', that is the way I see it. With more than 50 years of driving experience I have concluded that as an anti-collision device, the horn button isn't nearly as effective as the brake pedal.

    The thing I notice from most of these videos -- if someone performs an illegal lane change, stay in your lane, let them hit you. Trying to avoid the accident, where you would have been 0% at fault, you'll cause an accident where you'll be 100% at fault (or you'll have to fight hard to prove your innocence).

    In the clip at 2 mins, they're both crap parkers. The car with the people getting out is partially in somebody else's space. It might not seem like that big of a deal, but in tight garages like this one, that tiny bit of space is worth a lot.

    0:27 and 3:53 really irk me. People turn in to far lane and change lanes in intersection all the time and I would love to see tickets for these two violations and entering intersections when it is not clear to exit. Enforcing these three should be right there or above speeding.

    At 3:31, the dashcam records a one-car crash into a pole. The guy with the dashcam only slowed down to satisfy his curiosity but it appears that he left the scene without stopping to render any aid.

    3:56 Changing lanes in the middle of an intersection is on the top end of my peeves. I see people do it all the time. I would love to see Police insta ticket heavily for these. I feel it is one of the most dangerous violations I do not see enforced. Also entering an intersection when it is not clear to exit.

    I'm not surprised that there are so many hit and run drivers in Russia, because majority of the population is poor and on their last dime before the next paycheck so paying for other's repairs is the last thing they need. However seeing such behaviour being common in Canada, where most people are quite wealthy is...well, very shameful.

    I have been driving since 1982 and have never had an at fault accident. Maybe if people would just learn how to drive and NOT on the international drivers licence we could cut back on this crap.

    Not her fault, but she waits until 0:18 to turn her lights on. Lights increase visibility and reduce collisions by a huge percentage, that's why I turn all my lights on every time I drive even in the day time. This is recommended by Young Drivers of Canada where I took drivers ed over 10 years ago.

  • @GreenLlamaCK
    @GreenLlamaCK 10 років тому

    ...well, at least the person driving the van in the first clip pulled over!

  • @lbullis66
    @lbullis66 9 років тому

    In the sequence that begins at 2:22, it is open to debate whether the driver was in the intersection when the light changed. In the States, being over the crosswalk is considered to be in the intersection and when the light changes those cars are supposed to clear. Cross-traffic is required to wait for the intersection to clear and the green light is not a license to crash into other vehicles.

    • @xSupaD
      @xSupaD  9 років тому

      lbullis66 Keep in mind that only 1 car is allowed to be legally in the intersection at a time though. (For left turns)

    • @lbullis66
      @lbullis66 9 років тому

      ***** I know of no such law in the States. Where I live (Phoenix) there are normally two and sometimes more cars lined up to turn left in the intersection when the light changes from green to red.

    • @xSupaD
      @xSupaD  9 років тому

      Well, everywhere may be different, but in BC, thats the law

    • @a7neu
      @a7neu 9 років тому

      +lbullis66 Looks to me like he rolled into the intersection when the light was amber. You are supposed to stop if possible when the light is amber, not try to get into the intersection before the red so oncoming cars have to stop for you. Shit driving and I doubt ICBC looked favorably upon him.

    • @CullTheLivingFlower
      @CullTheLivingFlower 8 років тому

      +lbullis66 It's open to debate that he's in the intersection but it's not open to debate that staying still would have been the less dangerous thing to do than to turn left well after the light had turned red. The white car is 100% to blame. The guy that crashed into him was going at a reasonable speed through an intersection while he had the right of way. He did nothing wrong.

    Hi agree with a lot of the comments here, unfortunately even though companies like mine PDRI exist, the office of the superintendent of motor vehicle will not work with us to create a system were driving rehab would be mandatory for these people, they put forward things like (cost, logistics and not impeding on the drivers rights) what rights are they talking about? (Driving is still a privilege as far as I know), and what about the public's right to be safe and are those cost really that high? After all the majority of the problematic cases are around the major urban area!

  • @LetsDriveSomewhere
    @LetsDriveSomewhere 10 років тому +1

    Perfect example at 1:23 never swerve, slam on the brakes and hit them or let them hit you! It doesn't matter how many videos you've got of someone pulling out in front of you, unless you hit the car that pulled out, you're at fault!

    • @briant7953
      @briant7953 10 років тому

      not out here and with this footage it is the white cars fault. It caused the accident and is therefore at fault. The same thing if someone changes into your lane and doesn't make contact with you but you crash trying to avoid them. It is that cars fault for causing the accident.

    • @LetsDriveSomewhere
      @LetsDriveSomewhere 10 років тому +1

      Well, I don't know about Canada. But in the US at least, you cut into someone else's lane then. We all know that it really is the white car's fault, but the insurance company doesn't think so. It's almost impossible to stop yourself from swerving, it's just a natural reaction! But if you can "override" that feeling, you'll save a lot of money!

    • @briant7953
      @briant7953 10 років тому

      indeed

    • @Ward413
      @Ward413 10 років тому

      The insurance companies also heavily rely on the responding law enforcement's accident report and witnesses. Here in the US, even officers who claim to have twenty years in accident investigation still get it wrong. So, at least here in the US, the outcome of who is at fault is sometimes at the discretion of the officer investigating the accident. So hopefully you don't get a dumbass which a lot of people do.

      Much more drive off than you know... Couple months ago I chased after and blocked a woman who tried to escape after running a red and hitting a motorcyclist. Took down her license plate and told her she'd be charged with hit and run if she leaves, then went to go see if the guy was okay. The moron leaves anyways. In the end, she was indeed charged with a hit and run. :)

    What happened in the last clip? A blown tire? A random road rager who was idiotic?

  • @briant7953
    @briant7953 10 років тому

    ***** the tire is not blown out and as for the weird angle that is debatable. It looks to me like he has them turned hard right but even still if it is bent then it is pointing in the right direction to pull over is it not. I find it had to be I've the front wheel snapped off from that contact. He slowed right down and clipped the rear passenger side of the car at the time of impact. I wouldn't call it a side swipe nor a t-bone. Maybe a side-bone or a t-swipe, lol.

    • @seanl2576
      @seanl2576 10 років тому

      Regardless of what happened, it looks pretty obvious that the car is not going anywhere in the position the wheel is in. And how do you know that the tire didn't blow? Looks pretty obvious that it blew out to me, the sidewall of the tire is caving off onto the wheel.

    • @Ward413
      @Ward413 10 років тому

      Dude that was a lot more than a side swipe. That Mercedes that got hit by the BMW was clearly hit pretty hard, as it takes a lot of energy to push a vehicle sideways like that, especially when the Mercedes was barely moving. Not sure if the tire is flat like you guys were talking about but the BMW for sure snapped the tie rod/steering knuckle. I've seen a four wheel drive suburban side swipe a little Mazda 3 at equal speeds and the same thing happened... and consider how heavy duty a 1989 straight axle Suburban is, especially it's suspension components.
