We thought it'd be worth it to use this guitar in discussing "standard model options" on Taylor Guitars, which are just easy ways to customize your guitar without breaking the bank in the custom shop. Taylor does a great job of offering “custom” type guitars. Y’all mentioned completely custom options and special order runs for particular dealers. Like the ones Alamo order as a special run. But y’all did not mention that Taylor also does in house special runs of custom guitars. I am an amateur/hobby guitar player. I just can’t justify paying several thousand dollars for guitars. I only have 12 fret guitars and Taylor makes the best. IMHO. I always wanted a rosewood and sitka Taylor GC size 12 fretter with a paddle headstock instead of the standard slotted. That wood combination is normally in Taylor’s 800 and 900 series. Which puts them a little beyond my limits. But Taylor recently made a limited run of custom 412ce 12 Fret with paddle headstock, rosewood back and sides with a Sitka top in a mild sunburst. Also has upgraded fret inlays and hardware. It’s a beautiful guitar and sounds great. It’s exactly what I wanted and came in under $3,000. The only thing I would have left off is the pick guard. But that is easily remedied.
Taylor is a very versatile guitar builder.
Even Taylors production guitars look amazing. My 224-DLX-K is just as gorgeous as the two in this video. That being said, having the kind of customization options they offer without having to pay custom shop premiums is so awesome.
that’s awesome you guys put this out there, i did a modify a model in 2011 to get my 914ce with a a cedar top, didn’t have to touch out the custom shop :) but then, eventually i hit the custom shop lol

I'm a Martin woman but you guys are turning me into a Taylor woman...what's wrong with me? Lol...but I won't get a cutaway...never was fond of that. Hardly get up there!

Alamo Music helped me, out in Colorado, with a standard customization. I ultimately didn’t pull the trigger, as I found a Limited model that had nearly everything I wanted for $800 less. But, all that is to say, it was truly a fantastic experience. I learned sooo much about Taylor’s options and Richard over at Alamo was so patient and gracious I can guarantee that Ill buy my next Taylor through Alamo even out here in Colorado
Hello, I just wondering that if I want to change the material of the neck (Ex: From Crelicam Ebony to regular Ebony) is that include in the Standard model Option?
Alamo, is a white GS Mini beyond standard? I’ve wanted a white acoustic for a long time: satin white top, back, neck, and sides, with the ebony fretboard. 😎👍

Why doesn’t Taylor offer a non-cutaway “14” body shape guitar in the higher series ranges? I think an 714e or 814e would be the perfect guitar. Is my only hope the custom shop? Thx
You can order it w/o a cutaway, its just most stores stock the standard production model, b/c that’s what most people buy

A little bored of Taylors yet? i own one but don't want another one. mines a Taylor 352ce 12 String its ok, not amazing.
