    Personally that bike is the most fun you will ever have on two wheels. You can take it anywhere

    Hey! I just bought a WR250 for my kid and a Tenere for myself. I was worried about him on the interstate, but found it comforting that you feel safe/comfy cruising Knoxville on it (also a resident!) I am new to the dual-sport world and get nervous leaning or trusting the tires on wet pavement (or even some dry pavement!) Thanks for the video.

    Convinced me. Gosh i was about to get KLR or DR 650, I'm going with this!!

    This video combined with your comments was exactly what I needed to see. I think this video just sealed my KLR's fate (trade-in). I do wonder if 50% highway travel at 70-75mph will negatively impact the longevity of the engine though. I'm fine with leaving that to chance to find out and just do a rebuild early. The versatility and how fun those things are on the trail will make up for it.
    Excellent video! Thanks!

    This was pretty cool. I'm nervous about going on to the interstate with a dual purpose but the way you talked about it it's no big deal.

    I'm going to buy this bike and its not for freeway riding. However, if my experience expands to do road trips I want to know what it can and cannot do. From what I have gathered it can do the highway fine, BUT one should only have a mindset of defensive riding to a higher extreme than if you had a more powerful bike. The weakness lies in the ability to get around people to avoid the side swipes or the onslaught of oncoming traffic. The high speed passing is the only weakness so paying more attention to oncoming traffic is key. I would stay around 65-70 when cruising. No need to go faster. I would never ride the fast lane. Too many speeders coming behind you. Nice video. thx.

    I like the Video. Dont get fooled by the Helmet shake btw. I have the same bike and i commute too. Bike is very good at holding its line at speeds. But not so good when its windy. Can easily be pushed around by the wind. Is it shaky? Yes. Only if you are doing +50mph (+80kmh) tho. Another note is, Bikes is happy around 60/65mph @6th gear. She caps around 87mph(140kmh) which is max power @ 10K rpm.

      Yes, agreed. Back when this video was made (nearly a decade ago) there were no companies making dual sport fairings. You should be able to find one now. While I no longer own the bike in the video I still ride a dual sport and a Bajaworx fairing is on my list of to-dos.

    On the highway, what's the wind like in terms of hitting your helmet and maybe knocking it around? I've read the ds type helmets may catch a lot of wind if it's not blocked.

    135 lbs rider... ahhh to be 16 again... Curious, did you follow the Yamaha Guidelines to not prolong half throttle for the first 1 000 miles ( 1 600km ) ? I'm having a hard time holding back with my XT.

    How much weight can you put on her and does extra weight like a 200 lb rider affect the power

    • @ZSmith-yy4lv
      @ZSmith-yy4lv 2 роки тому

      I’m around 200 fully geared w/ water and it has more than enough power for me, especially with a 47-49 tooth rear sprocket. I’ve seen people around 240-260 ride it with few complaints as well (they did mostly trail riding, as do I).

      That's not suffering. If you want the extra 10mpg ride it differently. Know the speed it was engineered to go to get optimal MPG. I don't know what that is, but that's the fun of it. Ride it, and go find out.

      I have a stock WR250r, and offroad with the stock rear tire is a nightmare. That tire wore out by 3,000 miles though and I replaced it with a Dunlop D606, which has made the bike feel perfectly at home offroad, at the slight expense of a little more noise on-road and that's it.
