- Homelander's midlife crisis is, so far, an interesting thread to tug at - not only is he worried about aging, but he's also worried about legacy and building a world where his son can thrive (though "thrive" means something entirely different to someone like him). This is the first time that we've seen Homelander care about someone in a way that truly alters his behavior, and it's a new side to the character that is more fruitful to explore than his sociopathic side. Luckily, there's a new sociopath on the block anyway. Sister Sage is one of the new Supes in The Boys season 4 and her character grows more interesting every episode. Her psychosexual relationship with The Deep goes even further and is the best scene of episode 4. Watching him give Sister Sage a lobotomy is the most I've squirmed at The Boys in quite some time - the combination of Susan Heyward's chilling performance, the off-putting sexual chemistry between Sage and The Deep, and the act of the lobotomy itself is delightfully disgusting.

She’s not a good person, nor is she inherently cruel. She’s a self-serving pragmatist who took an opportunity to actually make an impact on others, and does so by using others to initiate her impact, her chaos.

The fact that people within the show had a bigger problem with Starlight having an abortion rather than Firecracker being an outright pedophile and rapist is a perfect illustration of modern-day America and Republican values.

I love how Starlight’s landing had more confidence this time, than her wobbly entrance earlier at the protesters brawl after Homelander’s verdict.

Sage is only helping Homelander as a form of self preservation, and to get to a resourceful position, and it seems like she's gunning for Ashley's seat at Bought, doing the job Ashley can't, directly benefiting Homelander. She's everything he needs, and he knows that, regardless of what he wants.

No... She's setting something up far too complex for anyone to see this early in. Everything she's doing has a goal within a goal within a goal, and the end result is 100% for her gain. No one else's, just hers. Everyone is a puppet in her shadow and no one can see it.

And that's when Sage became my favorite character overnight. Whatever ulterior motive she's cooking, it's definitely not in Vought's interest. Or even Homelander's. Otherwise she'd be ratting out what A-Train is doing already.

What I really love about this scene the most is the absolute shock on FC's face when Annie starts kicking her shit in. It's not like in House of the Dragon when Criston Cole let Harwin Strong beat him up on purpose as part of his plan. Firecracker DID NOT expect this at all, and Sage's dialogue shows she knows it. She was completely taken off guard and thrown off her game. That itself is music to my eyes.

Firecracker had what was coming to her. The fact that she went to explose Starlight for accidentally blinding people, then look up her medical records to reveal she was 6 weeks pregnant and had an abortion, was all Anne needed to get her lick back. She knew what she was doing and now has to suffer for it.
What's even better was the Sage set up the whole thing just to ruin both Firecracker's and Starlight's reputation in one day and night lmaoo

There’s so many twists to these characters in this season. At first I thought “wow, firecracker sucks. She’s trashy, can’t even hold her own against a drunken Kimiko, and has no real powers” ..then, we found out what Starlight did to her as kids, and I was like “for the first time in this series, I’m almost rooting /against/ Starlight.”
THEN Firecracker pulled THIS stunt and I’m thinking “god I hope Starlight beats her-op, here we go”

This also shows you Annie is on a different power level because fire cracker took on kimiko and held her own where as Annie obliterated her it makes me wonder if Annie power and strength is based on the longer she’s exposed to the sun kinda like Kara in the arc

Even though this was exactly the wrong move (Starlight should have gotten on TV and pointed out the shame of her medical records being released and flaunted, and been honest about how agonizing that medical decision was, and it would have gotten her sympathy and rallied up her fanbase), man did this feel good to watch.

I think one of the smaller but crazier aspects to this is how this is literally BLATANT assault (regardless of how deserved and satisfying it was) but because Annie is a supe she literally cannot receive any kind of consequence besides decline in her social reputation (which likely only increased with Starlighters in this tension-driven climate).

I can relate to Firecracker. Being the poor girl being bullied by a richer child. Bullied and having trauma into adulthood. It must also be a punch in the gut for your bully to have a sucessful life. It already is when they don't remember what they did. She's completely justified to be this way. However, Starlight is clearly a different person and had full right to attack her because Firecracker isn't a good person as an adult. It's very grey.
In some ways, Firecracker is a lot like stormfront. They both were brought to the seven to garner attention minus the fact that Stormfront is a lot stronger.
