    Thanks for the review. It was helpful. Heading to REI to get these now. You were the deciding factor. Cheers!

    Great review! I agree they’re a great shoe, but mine too are suffering exactly the same issue with delaminating around that upper in exactly the same area, which is no way acceptable after only 20 miles on a £124 per of shoes. Personally I feel that upper material is to stiff and creases and can dig into the top of the foot a little. They obviously need a stronger adhesive under that protective tape to avoid the delaminating. I’m returning mine because I’ve no doubt all that tape will completely come away in no time,plus I’ve read of a number of people complaining about the black flap above the toes delaminating.

      Yep it is completely unacceptable, love the shoe though. I will be making a video addressing that issue. Thanks Ed! Welcome to the Motivation Theory community!

      Same issue here, I got them replaced. Keeping my fingers crossed as I really love those shoes.

    Lugs on heels of mine have worn away completely after 250 miles, which was bit of a surprise. Probably says something about my footstrike too... But otherwise very happy with them. Comfortable on 10-20 mile runs, good grip on slippery surfaces.

    I really liked the Speedgoat 2 and 3 versions. I found the 4s a bit stiff in the upper, and too narrow. They definitely give you confidence that you won't slip on the trails though. And the cushioning is great for long runs. I always put Powerstep insoles in all my shoes for the arch support - I think that changes them to a stability shoe for me.

    • @motivationtheoryrunning
      @motivationtheoryrunning  4 роки тому +1

      I have never tried the 2 or 3, so I have nothing to compare it to, but that seems consistent from what I have heard. With the amount of cushion in the mid sole it is pretty close to a stability shoe already..lol

    great video, 👍🏼you should contact hoka about that coating peeling off so quickly
    for $145 I think we all expect better quality!

    Have those exact ones. Only was able to get a few trail runs in at this time. Enjoy the cushion and grip. Never ran in other speed goats but really like them for someone who needs little extra cushion

      Nice! I had not run in other SG, so this was a nice surprise. Did you feel they where narrow in the toe box? They felt fine to me. Welcome to the Motivation Theory community!

  • @kswalker3851
    @kswalker3851 4 роки тому +1

    SpeedGoat is my shoe. Toe box is a little narrow but for me that's ok. Great grip and keeps the feet dry when running in snow and or rain act. Thanks for the review!

    • @motivationtheoryrunning

      I have heard that about the toe box, but it seems fine to me, I guess foot shape really comes into play with what works best for folks. Trying something new with this review, hop it was okay!

    Hi there , i've been watching you for a while now and i love your containt , its so detailed and everything is on point. I have supination on both my legs and i was wondering if these Hoka's are good for keeping my foot stable and not leaning outside cause i been running with some old nike air and i have absolutely destroyed them through time hehe . I dont have any store near my city so its impossible for me to test em so i really want an advice for which hokas are good for keeping my feet stable for supination . I was ready to buy the one one clifton or some brooks adrenaline but then i saw this vid . Hope you will see my comment. Stay safe my man !!

    • @motivationtheoryrunning
      @motivationtheoryrunning  4 роки тому +1

      Hokas provide cushion and some..some stability but not that much. The Brooks Adrenaline 19 and 20 claim to support both over pronation and supination... so they may work. I would check the Running Wearhouse return policy they may allow you to lightly try shoes. Best of luck!

    Hey man, I currently run in salomon speed sense 2 for trails and like hybrid runs anywhere from 5-20km. Its a pretty responsive shoe, but I’m going on a 10 day hiking trip where I’m planning on running 20+ km/day and I’m looking for something a bit of a softer ride and more cushion. Would you recomend those for this?

    I haven't ran in Hoka's for quite sometime but I did enjoy them. I ran my first ultra in the Speedgoat one. Where did you get them? online, running store?

  • @threeohm
    @threeohm 3 роки тому +1

    I had several parts of my Speedgoat 4 overlays peel off on one shoe after very little use. Interestingly it's just on one shoe. The other is holding up fine. Poor quality control on the adhesive process for the overlay. Too bad. I'm enjoying the shoe otherwise.

    • @motivationtheoryrunning
      @motivationtheoryrunning  3 роки тому +1

      Yeah, I have put a ton of miles on them and other than overlay issues they have been great.

    How are these with stability? I read they have a high stack height would I have to worry about rolling/spraining my ankle easier?

    How r these shoes in winter time where it's slowy etc?? I would love to buy a shoe for my gf thats comfortable in the winter times, so she doesnt slide around and still feel comfort.

    • @motivationtheoryrunning

      Have not used them in snow, but they do have great and aggressive tread on the bottom so they should work pretty good.

    I would never recommend this trainer for anything over 10 miles. As with x2 hoka I've bought (the other is newest kaha gtx) I find hoka so far an exaggerated over priced product that is marketed to a higher standard than the truth behind its technology and quality control. The speedgoat 4 GTX is way too spongy making the forefoot lean all over the place the rocker effect causes blisters over long journeys, its far from waterproof just like the kaha gtx isn't either, and when the water gets in there your in trouble! The kaha soles can take long journeys but these speedgoat 4's cannot the best thing in these is the grip... They aren't worth more than £70 the kahas not worth more than £90...im going to wait till the marketing stops for the mafate speed 2 and their 45%cheaper and that's hokas last chance... Meanwhile I'm trying on running I've bought the cloudventure peak next I will try the cloudventure non goretex

  • @Smoking_Hot_Scott

    I got a pair of Bondis and when it rained my feet got soaked. I understand that you want breathable shoes but damn! Does the mesh on the speedgoats allow water through it or should I get the goretex ones?

    • @motivationtheoryrunning
      @motivationtheoryrunning  3 роки тому

      Yeah the Speedgoat 4 does let water in..but for general damp ground they may be okay, I am more concerned with how the shoe dries as most ultra were my feet are wet it’s because I have to cross water. The goretex would probably do better in the rain.
