If you want to know WHY Tony Khan pushes Orange Cassidy so much just take a look at AEW's UA-cam videos. As hard as it may be to believe, Orange Cassidy is AEW's biggest draw. AEW's top 10 UA-cam videos make up 203 million views, 126 million of those views are from videos featuring Orange Cassidy. AEW's top two videos both feature Orange Cassidy and have 45 million and 41 million views. In comparison, CM Punk's top video is his AEW debut and it drew 18 million views. It's the only video in the top 10 featuring CM Punk. That means Orange Cassidy out drew CM Punk by 126 million views to Punks 18 million. Not to mention his merch is always in the top 5 in sales for AEW and young adult fans and young kids dress like him at shows. Anyway, that's the reason. Apparently, he's also working for AEW as a coach backstage now too.
even if they do book Okada or Ospreay vs Adam Copeland, it means nothing because Tony Khan has done such a horrible job of using him. Edge means nothing in AEW.

I cannot understand the Tony Khan logic here: he announces Will Ospreay is joining the company about 6 months in advance yet he refuses to promote Sasha Banks' debut for in about 3 weeks time.
Part of it is that WBD has basically insisted on 'big surprise announcements' because they think that will pop ratings, and Tony doesn't know any better.
AEW are about to debut veteran wrestlers who made their name in other companies like Mercedes and Okada meanwhile WWE have already started developing their next tier of talent like Tiffany Stratton and Bron Breakker
Ospreay's whole gimmick is "oi bruv i wrestle good". He has around 35 5 star matches and they dont mean shit becuase he cannot talk, has negative charisma and had no engaging storylines. Cm punk has 1, solitary 5 star match , money in the bank 2011 against cena and that is an all timer because it has a phenomenal storyline and 2 highly charismatic talkers. Did that match have crazy spots or death defying athletics. Hell no. But it is still fondly remembered as one the greatest storylines and matches. That is what aew needs to do. You are right. But AEW wont do that. one because Tony doesn't know how to do that. He is a indy wrestling match mark like Meltzer. He books matches and wants everyone to love them and disregards the storylines as excuses to do the match rather than a actual building storyline. What he fails to realize is that to most people the match is irrelevant if the storyline is trash or non existent. HBK vs Bret hart at mania 12 would have just been a drawn out hour long match with zero fs given if it wasnt for the storyline of Shawn chasing the title built in for a year and Brets persona of he's the best and having heat with Shawn over that with both of them claiming to be best. Remove that and its just a long ass match no matter how technically good it may have been. Tony has a nothings broke so im not fixing it mindset because he lives in denial of what the problem is. Tony is an arrogant goof who never gets anything wrong. It's not just about Wrestling, the way he made a joke out of himself over Ivan Toney a few years ago (a striker he claim he refused to sign, only to go on and spend much, much more on loan fees developing players for other teams!)
Tony Khans brain is all messed up. Instead of coke, I think Tony accidentally snorted Ajax - like that girl did in the Cheech & Chong movie 'Up In Smoke'

Might as well get the money now. If it's a wrestler like Edge who is winding down, it's one last bag. If it's someone like Mercedes she can get her bag, then leave and wrestle where she wants for the enjoyment.
Wwe has shown that there is at least 3 million wrestling fans that are willing to tune in live for something they're invested in. There has to be a way for AEW to tap into that, someone has to be smart enough to comprehend that in that company
The problem for them is that Khan created a stigma around AEW with the whole elite and punk thing that it is now forever etched there. Just like the one TNA got at one point that made them a joke at that time to most fans in comparison to WWE. the same thing has happened to AEW in a much worse way. Because TNA never got clowned on the way AEW has been the past year. Because AEW never self inflicted so much damage from itself by its top management in anything but booking decisions that didnt work. AEW looks unprofessional from one point of view and a clown show from another. Filled with overly unsafe matches where people get hurt consistently doing dumb needless spots for cheap pops from a mark crowd that would cheer paint drying when they go to one of these AEW shows. Danielson was injured twice in 2023 in AEW. Dante martin is lucky he can walk after that stupid spot in roh with penta. Both hardys have been injured by Guevara's reckless match work. Cesaro, Bryan, Paige, Edge, Cole, ect have all failed in that company because they do not know how to book stars. They book matches and create excuses to have a match and then do long matches that mean nothing but token wins and losses for a prop title that has zero credibility since all the storylines are garbage. AEW is run by immature management, bad creative, and a complete lack of understand on what makes pro wrestling work in presentation outside of the mark bubble.
If you even ask who the Mexican and Japanese guys are, u will get bombarded by a bunch of marks calling u names like "WWE mark", "pg lover" or call u ignorant.
Doesn't help that a lot of dudes asking those types of questions are trolls and/or racists. Look up Disco asking people about Stardom's "Speed title." He wasn't trying to learn.
@@naseefzarif1576 I agree they should do that, but it won't necessarily make disinterested fans care about them. I remember when NXT ran vignettes for Sarray before she showed up but it didn't help her get over at all.
I became a wrestling fan in 1991. I had planned to join the business until I broke my neck when I was 18. I have studied the business obsessively ever since. I have seen thousands of matches from promotions all over the globe . I have seen every style and move there is to see. For me, a match is only good if I care about the outcome. How can it be considered good if I don't care about any of the people involved enough to actually take time out of my day to watch it?
Exactly. And that right there is what match marks like Tony khan and Dave meltzer don't understand. They like the spots and moves ect. And they run with the idea that all fans do except casuals. Which is totally incorrect. The fanbase that are like that are the die hard AEW people that will watch anything they put out simply because its not WWE. Its die hard mark tribalism that wants WWE to lose or be taken down ect so they completely ignore the short comings of AEW and instead praise it.
I'm reasonably sure that Tony is pretty hands off with Fulham now, their transfer activity has been more sedate for over a year, so it feels like he is putting more time in on AEW. The funny thing about this conversation is that it's a further example of why the door was never 'forbidden', it was always just a very stupid idea barring a few exceptions. You can now add CMLL to NWA and TNA etc as the list of promotions who found that working with AEW is all about what AEW needs, it's not a partnership. Unless the two promotions have a coherent agreement about how each will benefit (the way the original NWA did with their travelling champion), it usually damages one or both parties
Mercedes Mone is ONLY coming to AEW because she asked for too much money from WWE. She's not a star anymore, WWE would have never let her go if she was. Mone in AEW is going to be an all time dud.

First and foremost I want AEW to succeed. The wrestling world is much better when there’s more than one major promotion. Only problem is Tony Khans ego and total lack of leadership. He’s the money guy, that’s it. Vince before he decided to let his freak flag fly was actually a boss. There was never a question of who was in charge in WWE. Now HHH is leading WWE and it shows. They went from having 1 or 2 actual superstars to now a full roster of legit superstars with actual great matches and story’s. AEW just signed all of WWE’s rejects and only a couple are actually successful. Almost all their big stars are injured or about to retire. No stories and no structures. If you’re a wrestler you shouldn’t be an EVP. The bucks are ego maniacs that think their poo doesn’t stink.
I woke up early to watch elimination chamber and there were two wrestlers that reinforced what WWE is doing, Bron Breaker and Tiffany Stratton, they were in NXT which is basically WWE’s farm system and you saw that they are polished, Bron Breaker is a monster and you see the difference between him and AEW’s homegrown talent and Tiffany Stratton is a star on a upward trajectory that showed in the chamber that she is on the same page with the seasoned girls, and they are doing the right thing with Jade because there making sure that every time she is going to wrestle people are going to say, yup she’s the one that got away.
The sad thing is that aew has a man that could rival Bron Breakker in Wardlow - and yet Tony Baloney doesn't see it. Tony will push a human scarecrow that plays pocket pool, and not Wardlow WTF
Tony Khan's "Huge Announcements," having endless tournaments, and his great "Dream Matches." Kazuchika Okada, the "Rainmaker" guy: They should show older NJPW footage (video vignettes / the very important and essential Back Stories, this is what Disco (Inferno) was saying); if he can't do promos, have subtitles, as he speaks his native tongue (ala Shinsuke Nakamura or Sho(ichi) Funaki ("Indeed."); if not, get a manager, like a Don Callis; or let the Young Bucks do the promos (with him). Does (Will) Ospreay need training doing promos; he can't just be like L.A. Knight by saying "Dummy, YEAH !"; Ospreay's word is "Bruv." Give him a manager, like a Prince Nana or a Stokely Hathaway, because Hathaway can talk his @$$ off. Daniel Garcia too. Chris Jericho is great on his promos (against Hook), just like an Adam Copeland (Rated-R Superstar), or a Christian Cage "Father of the Year" promo. Maybe Tony Khan is playing the WWE2k24 video game: My G.M. (General Manager) mode; watching old (VHS/BetaMAX video)tape stuff (of either potential or future "free agent" talents) too. He needs to get help from dudes like, Jeff Jarrett, a long-time promoter (a TNA Impact Wrestling (total non-stop action) / GFW (Global Force Wrestling). my opinions; just sayin'.
At least WCW signed actual main event superstars like Hogan, Hall, Nash, Savage, Luger, Flair and Bret from the WWF. AEW signed the WWE mid card from 1999, Jericho, Callis, the Hardys, Edge and Christian. So Tony is keeping his word. He's not making the same mistakes as WCW. This is straight up depressing.
K Dog makes a great point. AEW is the Mets and I will add the Cowboys. Their owner is hindering the product and their high priced talent has underperformed.
Cowboys dont fit in the comparison. They make the playoffs all the time but fail in the clutch. The media always overrates the Cowboys with the this year is different idea and then they lose again. But they still make the playoffs all the time and win 12 games. The mets were a better comparison with the highest paid roster and then missed the playoffs. Because AEW has a overpaid roster of names and got zero to show for it.
I think entertainment is a better example. The talent is performing with what they're given. It's kind of like when a really shitty video game or movie spends half of its budget on a really good actor. Sure it'll draw extra eyes, but won't be as effective as making a good product in the long run.
@@zeromagnum2811 A team full of high priced talent that's always choking the playoffs is the definition of underperforming. They're not getting paid to just make the playoffs when the goal is to be the team who lifts the Vince Lombardi trophy after the Super Bowl. The analogy is accurate. It's even more accurate because coaches, coordinators and players somehow tend to be worse with the Cowboys.
@@decepticonxhunter4850 in one way yeah. But when you have a team that misses the playoffs all the time like me. Obviously the first three opponents that TK will pick against Okada will be :- Pretty Peter Avalon, QT Marshall and a returning Leatherface. Personally I can't wait.
They got 801,000 viewers for the Boston show. Face facts! Tony Khan is signing big talent to get a bigger tv deal from WBD but the ratings don’t support it and this Dynamite proved it.
He always had a glaring blindspot for the company, but the second he gave the Cobana rumor any legitimacy, he went full propaganda minister for the Elite. That solid 9 months of him constantly doing Punk stories when Punk was out injured (and not making any statements) made punk look bad, but it also made him, the bucks, and Tony collateral damage for not handling any situations better. No amount of spin could make Tony look competent after the genie was out of the bottle.
The problem is people dont know who half off AEW roster is and the bringing people from other foreign promotions it never works out well. They need to write coherent shows, they need to show who their people are....
3:45 THIS!!! AEW and Tony Kahn expect everybody to spend as much time reading wrestling Twitter and back stories as Tony himself does. Sometimes I have no idea who the fuck these people are on AEW and I have no interest in learning.

AEW's fanbase is immature, always in denial and hyper sensitive to criticism. Constructive criticism from anyone including veterans that have been in the business is taken as personal attacks, that's their mindset, that's the mindset of guys like Adam Page and that's only a few examples why that company is unbearable.
Did you guys see the vitriol O'Shea Jackson Jr. got from AEW fans after his appearance on Chris Van Vliet's show? Those AEW fans were fully unhinged. Even Ice Cube got involved.
I have more interest in these podcast more then I do the actual product on tv , these podcast is like riding town to town with these guys listening to the stories of the business thats where all the greats all say they learned the most
It is definitely a problem on AEW's part for constantly bringing in people ,and not explaining their background. Even when AJ Styles debuted at the Royal Rumble, WWE still had commentary listing off his accomplishments on the way to the ring, building him up for all of the fans who weren't aware of who he was, and not just assuming every WWE fan knew who he was.
I've never forgotten when Finn Balor first appeared on The WWE Main Roster one Monday night. Not only did WWE hint at his activities in New Japan (as well as NXT) they even mentioned that he had once held The NWA British Columbia Championship!😂😏🎤🇯🇵🇨🇦🤼♂️B.W.
For someone who seems to be into analytics, TK seems like he's not into long term planning. The only thing I watch on their UA-cam at the moment is the Bucks and Sting feud. All they post are long boring matches on their channel.
I just never understood why people bothered to listen to people like them to have to be told what they see is enjoyed or not. The worst cry is when they spit out 'ratings' and 'stock prices' to defend the things fans are sick and tired of seeing when no actual fan has ever given a crap about TV ratings OR stock quality. Those are corporate buzzwords only and those are no standard a fan needs to decide whether what they saw was entertaining or not. Glen brought up WCW there. That is an example. Look how today we see the WCW vs WWF war as something incredibly amazing yet, looking at ratings.. They had WWF with a 7.8 and WCW at a 3.1once and that was in the apex of the war! Ratings don't mean crap to fans. Times change. We have social media accesses and public recording options no one ever had in the 2000's even. Folks like Meltzer, Fightful, WhatCulture.. They exist simply to muddy the waters and be spin doctors so whatever results the big name promotions get are considered ' Clever and no one ever saw coming'. I've learned ages ago to give them no credit ( considering the sources, almost all of them are not even journalists and therefore NOT credible by design) yet read between the lines as they've pulled stunts like ' CM Punk is no longer in talks with WWE'. Yeah because he already signed and therefore was NOT NEEDING to be IN TALKS anymore. That's called a spin. Yeah no one saw Dwayne Johnson swooping in like Superman to save the WWE either and that went down like an upper decker in an abandoned apartment. Yet he came in at first against roman and then he suddenly is with roman and now a heel and then hes NOT fighting but now he IS.. and Then theres this whole Cody story angle and then CM Punks gonna come back in a few months and is THAT story arc gonna work or.. They legit panicked at TKO, Dwayne told them ' I'll save it' and made things worse.

Won't matter if Tony has final say over the creative. Tony Khan is never going to learn how to book and will never have the restraint to stop himself with interfering in the booking. It's the same creative issue they had with Vince in the last 15 years. It's so much easier to hire yes men to pretend there are no problems than to actually let someone else fix the problem.

We don't have to tolerate an incompetent competitor just because a monopoly would be worse. Competition is supposed to make both companies better. If one promotion runs itself into the dirt it deserves to die out so that something better fills the void left behind in its wake. That's natural selection in the free market. Just to be clear, I don't want AEW to fail but they also shouldn't get a pass from being accountable for their mistakes.

Remember, AEW is only five years old and the revived ROH has been around for only a few years. A Pro Wrestling promotion and the company's promoter that wants to actually succeed turns a profit within eight years after opening it's doors, so AEW and ROH is right of course. I think there are two issues with AEW. The first is that AEW isn't a wrestling promotion. It's a toy. It's a billionaires plaything nothing more. The 2nd is that Tony Khan doesn't seem to understand that what makes wrestling interesting is "THE STORY". AEW doesn't tell stories.
The “Where the best wrestles!” Slogan for aew is meaningless if you dont have storylines. Aew marks chant this is awesome to the match that doesn’t have psychology. 😂

I don't think Mercedes realizes that the main reason she was pushed was her blood relation to Snoop I think she was good but not as valuable as she thinks.
Tony did hire a former WWE writer recently, so you have to give him some serious credit for that. Maybe he is finally listening. Hopefully we'll see some big improvements in the following weeks.
The concern I have is, the writer is going have to make sense of Tony's booking style and I could be wrong, but I think over time, the writer is going to get burned out and say peace out
It looks like the parents don't want the children watching a gay tag team pulling another teams trunks down, or a man that plays with himself when he is wrestling

Miro and Black are in the witness protection program. Edge is taking on Nobodies. Every Edge match should have a Story behind it and against Top of the Card competition.
That’s the thing, their “draws” aren’t drawing. Copeland is a train wreck. Danielson is easy going and just wants to wrestle and finish up his contract

Any of these top free agents signing for AEW are having Tony Khan pay a premium for ruining their personal brand
Aew is an echochamber. They're never going to grow with that mentality. The fans just attack anybody who states facts. Because they're weirdos
they can't tap into it tho even if WWE and AEW swapped rosters completely WWE would still win
I’ll never forget the CMLL guys just showing up in the front row! Mox gives them the finger and a feud begins! 😂😂😂

"Poor people don't like AEW...."
Dave Meltzer 2024
😂🤣😂
Unless the two promotions have a coherent agreement about how each will benefit (the way the original NWA did with their travelling champion), it usually damages one or both parties
being a mets fan the mets reference hurts a bit but its true 😢😢😢😢
What these 3 mean for business is completely up to Tony Khan. TK could’ve cooled off peak Attitude Era Steve Austin
Mercedes Mone is ONLY coming to AEW because she asked for too much money from WWE. She's not a star anymore, WWE would have never let her go if she was. Mone in AEW is going to be an all time dud.
This… nobody cares for her, she’s clearly a nightmare to deal with and doesn’t have a good attitude for someone who isn’t a draw

“Poor people don’t like aEW”
Disco and Konnan are smart guys. They get it.
It shows how spoiled some fans are that they view it as super bowl or bust when only two teams a year get there. Is why i hate the Cowboys. The fanbase is spoiled and entitled because of franchise success and recognition.
Obviously the first three opponents that TK will pick against Okada will be :- Pretty Peter Avalon, QT Marshall and a returning Leatherface. Personally I can't wait.
Jeff Jarrett has been Texas Chainsaw Champion for like 8 months with no defeses, hes worse than Roman HAHAHA
They got 801,000 viewers for the Boston show. Face facts! Tony Khan is signing big talent to get a bigger tv deal from WBD but the ratings don’t support it and this Dynamite proved it.
Dave Meltzer has absolutely ruined Aew
Has anyone checked in on the ex Booker of the Year?
Ha.
What aew future? Where is the new tv deal announcement?
The main reason I can’t watch Aew lately is that Orange Cassidy is the best guy they have and he wrestles with his hands in his pockets!!!
Talent will not “save” AEW from mediocre creative.
AEW has gotten so bad to the point that even Dave Meltzer knows it's bad for business to defend them.

AEW's fanbase is immature, always in denial and hyper sensitive to criticism. Constructive criticism from anyone including veterans that have been in the business is taken as personal attacks, that's their mindset, that's the mindset of guys like Adam Page and that's only a few examples why that company is unbearable.
i have blocked literally thousands of AEW mark accounts on Twitter. They're unbelievable.

My AEW interest died when they lost Punk
Losing Punk was bad for them but turning MJF babyface was what completely derailed them.
Punk got himself fired. He didn't have the option of leaving.
WWE does such of great job of making their stars look like stars. AEW hasn't really figured out how to do that and sustain that status.
😂 Meltzer probably has the aew logo tattoed on his taint.

Meltzer jumping off the titanic
Someone needs to convince Tony Khan to hire Scott D'Amore to come in as Chief Content Creator and run AEW's creative and book.

It could worse. We could a WWE monopoly in the business.
@@dngn4774 with Tony and Shahid Khan both being multi-billionares, specifically Tony Khan's intense love for the business and has clear knowledge of the legacy of past promotions, Tony Khan's vast amount of exceutives and producers add the fact that he has a multi-year deal with Warner Brothers Discovery, you really think his AEW+ROH may fold?
Remember, AEW is only five years old and the revived ROH has been around for only a few years. A Pro Wrestling promotion and the company's promoter that wants to actually succeed turns a profit within eight years after opening it's doors, so AEW and ROH is right of course. You just have to be patient 😌 🙏.

Tony does not understand how to structure and format a show to convey a narrative, he just tries to cram as much 'booking' in as he can and thinks having the announcers power talk through some factoids is enough to make people care.

She is a good wrestler that wanted to be in the WWE, but she was offered more money, now she is the highest paid female in AEW that wanted to be in the WWE. Just look at Dashawn Watson playing for the Browns. He doesn’t want to be there but they gave him a fully guaranteed contract.
Good for her for getting that money, the question will she do anything for AEW to really be worth it?
Look at the business wwe is producing with the talent they have...aew signs a new wrestlers every few months and business is the same if not declining badly..aew and its talent is like have a ferrari in the garage but you NEVER take it out. Tony doesnt know what to do with Edge , sasha Bryan.

The concern I have is, the writer is going have to make sense of Tony's booking style and I could be wrong, but I think over time, the writer is going to get burned out and say peace out
Writer worked during WWE's trash era btw
There won't be any big improvements until Khan surrenders the booker hat to somebody else that can wear it better.

AEW doesn't have any good storyline going on to make me care, Edge one of my favorite Wrestler hasn't have anything too look foward to, Samoa Joe he is great with the tittle i like his promo, but idk why can they build a proper storyline with him, idk i trying to keep up with the product but it just a bunch of spotfes and no good promos to make me go back and see how it goes with their feud.
Khanman doesn’t know how to book. There’s no other way to say it. He has Main Eventers that he’s using in a Tag program without the Belts at stake. Jay White is the ROH Trios champion.
