Crows, Magpies, and their ilk - talk to them, get to know them, and if you are gentle and calm - they will become comfortable around you, and eventually you might just be able to experience such. Just be respectful: They are wild beings, they are meant to be free - but that doesn't stop you from getting to know them.
i think its rather her that has chosen the raven to be her companion, experiment, friend, what ever.
When she ruffles her feathers on her head up, reminds me of when my cats want scritches & they do that little head dip & roll around. She's so sweet, those low growls, goodness ^.^ Boop boop!
Wow Fable was really chilled out! She was loving her head massage. It was also interesting to see all the wild crows, ravens and buzzards. Lovely to see you Amy
I've found a lot of birds like head rubs/massages. I suspect this is because unless they have a partner to go through their feathers for them, they are left only able to use their own feet to tend to their head feathers and this is usually quite a stretch for them.

Fable is just the best ❤ i volunteer at a owl sanctuary and have been making a friend out of the 1 of the 2 ravens they have. He is getting more relaxed with me every time i see him. The female is slowly getting better but she is taking alot longer. They are amazing bird and also very cheeky they both have a thing for undoing my laces just as im about to go.

I first started my love affair with corvids when I lived on the edge of a town in southern Norway around 12 or so years ago. On walks with my dogs I noticed some hooded crows had caught on to that the dogs got treats. Being immensely curious by nature myself, I started to nonchalantly “forgetting” treats where they (hooded crows) could easily get to them, usually on top of large branches. Rapidly we became friends and they would follow me home. Fast forward and they would come and knock on the windows when they where hungry (not to mention an array of other corvids and small birds). Since then, wherever I’ve lived, I have gotten to know the local murder and in particular the local pair(s) in summer. Done correctly it’s immensely fun and rewarding and I can only imagine your work is many times more that, Amy. Thanks for taking the time and bringing the magic and majesty of Corvids to the world. ❤

Oh, she's so very lovely and loving. I mean, obviously we can't ever expect a bird to act like a pet dog, but that is the cuddliest I have ever seen any bird act. Adorable, and charming, and enchanting, beak to tail tip! We love you Fable

As a young boy growing up in East Sussex, I was always fascinated by the ornithological world. Especially the birds of prey. I was lucky enough to befriend some people from the Sussex Falconry Centre and had the great experience of learning the very basics of falconry. My life took me on a different route and now as a middle aged guy am living in the North of Germany. I would like to express my thanks to your great channel here on UA-cam. I watch all the vids and it makes me feel like that young guy again who once had a dream of becoming a falconer. I envy the life you lead but am very grateful for the fact you share it with us. Many regards from myself and that younger boy within.

Hearing Fable saying "Hi" is so surreal! It really shows that what you've said in the "How ravens talk"-video is true. You hear an absolute clean voice without any typical human characteristics of airflow or vocal cord distortion. It's crazy. You can - obviously - generate similar sound with a computer, but while humans can try to approach this perfection, it will stay just a try.
Fable is acting like spring is right around the corner, so sweet.

From what I have seen, especially growing up in rural Yorkshire, corvids (especially ravens) are much more intelligent than most birds of prey, so that hanging around near kill sites is massively to thier advantage. I've seen kestrels in particular getting MASSIVELY cheesed off with ravens and rooks, as the latter in particular are so good at behaving co-operatively. This affords the observer some truly amusing moments. Such a pity we didn't have smartphone cameras in those days. Anyone can see clearly how happy Fable is, especially in the end section of this lovely video.. And in SUCH good condition too! Nice one. 🌟👍

The Cooper's hawks and crows where I live have a great relationship. They tolerate each other. When young Cooper's learn to hunt, it gets exciting. Not only do they chase, they like to test their skills by being chased.
When a red-tailed hawk shows up, crows go absolutely ape-shit.
Where I live the crows terrorize the coopers hawks especially during fledgling season
@@Nicole-ww4lg Same here. Crows are always chasing Coopers Hawks and screaming the entire time. We have multiple bird seed feeders and hummingbird feeders so the neighborhood Coopers Hawk always has his eye on the smaller birds and has even made a meal of a few of them. The crows go bananas.
@@Pahdopony They don't play so nice when it's nesting season. The crows and ravens get very aggressive towards any hawks which fly near their trees. They usually drive them off with a lot of flash and noise and no bloodshed. But sometimes things get ugly.
I got my 'pet' magpie to whistle at me today. Wish I'd got in on camera! He says "hi"! 😀
Aah, she behaves like a little baby being cuddled. I've seen a pair of storchs grooming each other the other day. The one being groomed had more or less the same look to its eyes as Fable did. I never imagined birds had a similar response to kindness as mamals do.

Your gentle, loving touch in your interactions with Fable is so wonderful to watch. And you are exquisitely tuned in to her moods and needs at all times. I love Ravens. There is one that hops up the hill road in front of my house to get some pecans from the trees. My Labrador let's me know he is out there as if the bird is scary to him. I think because he doesn't see as many Ravens as he does the other types of birds at my feeders.
I am amazed by your dog the pointer. So sweet. The Ravens have no Fear apparently either. My Labrador can't run off the Raven here .

I absolutely love watching you two and the tender interactions between you. My heart breaks for all caged birds that are trapped in tiny cages around the world. What frustration they must feel.
Fable reminds me vividly of an old pet shop I used to visit when I was a teenager, they had a huge white house cockatoo that had free reign of the entire shop. if it decided that it liked you, it would fly to your shoulder, and stick its head in your face with its head feathers erect, begging for head scritches. On my second visit, it decided that I would be one of the honoured ones, and flew right to my head and got its headfeathers stuck in my glasses. Well, I stood there for two hours with this thing on my person, just giving this bird the attention it demanded.In the end it wouldnt leave me alone :P and on every subsequent visit it took the owner of the shop to pick the bird up and hold it while I made my escape. :P
I live in upstate NY and I have been privileged to have 6 or 8 crows and a single raven visit or bird feeder this winter. Literally out side our bed room window. We can hear the raven make the noises that Fable makes

How tender and sweet❤️. I just kept smiling and what a nice ending to go get ready for bed. Today I watched an adult magpie use it’s beak to gnaw on a suet block. I think the chickadees and juncos and finches like the crumbs.

Your home seems like a paradise for what you do. Very glad for you and your birds. The idea that such a place also gives such views to wild bird action is very gratifying. And Fable is awesome, obviously.

Simply incredible, I love birds.
Birds express their moods with their eyes and posture, plus various vocal expressions. She's very happy and content in your presence. My first Maxi Pionus was almost certainly wild caught and spoke wild Pionus and I spoke it back. He had a extremely loud flock call, BUUUWEEEP!, a all is right with his world soft erk! as he looked at me and all kinds of whistles and vocals none of my other Maxis have done since. He and they had the same type of happy eyes around me too. They tell everything with their eyes and body postures if you learn to read it. With parrots you better learn it or you will get da bitez when they are in a bad mood and trying to tell you to back off.
I know I can say from experience it is an amazing experience I currently have 3 crows and they are the best it’s an amazing relationship

Grew up like that in Northern Sweden we had a bird lake and a large field right outside our house. There were lots of northern lapwing, crane, swans and canada goose and on ocassion raptors. One summer we had a pair of northern goshawk nest in our neighbours tree to the dismay of the lapwings.

Fable loves Mummy! We call our vultures (scavengers at roadkill sites) "buzzards" in the US. Your "buzzards" remind me of our harriers, long-tailed, low-flying hawks fond of chicken dinners. One good way to catch sight of raptors is to watch for their "escort" of crows or ravens, hoping for scraps from their meals.
