I think the limited backwards compatibility is far more likely for perhaps games with the IR sensor. every time they've had backwards compatibility in their consoles, they've never stopped you from playing the flagship titles (smash bros, mario bros/kart etc.).
In other consoles with backwards compatibility (PS5, Xbox one, etc) they made it clear some games couldn't be run backwards and was always a technical problem

Yo EE, Smash Ultimate is 100% going to be playable on the Switch 2, if you go to the Switch 2 website you can see it in the background as one of the games in the backwards compatibility section (its in the very bottom right next to Paper Mario - you can see Diddy Kong, Sonic, Snake etc in the Smash Ultimate banner), like people have been saying its probably only games like Labo that might not be compatible because you can't fit the bigger Joy-Cons into the cardboard lol

Honestly want a variation of the Final Smash Meter. One that uses the original final smashes and then something like a competitive one that works like Arsène, where it gives some level of a buff to a character so it doesn’t break the neutral game completely.

Smash Ultimate deluxe makes the most sense as a future-proofed installment, they would probably need to adjust the game mechanics again. It was so hype to see directional air dodges and characters with new moves, I wouldn't mind it again but like 5x as much differentiation.
I hope they bring back power shielding. Let me deflect projectiles with parries. Projectiles are too safe in Ultimate (especially charge shot wtf). I would also like a real Smash meter that allows for strong finishers. Final Smash meter is great but they are way too OP and unbalanced.

I'd much rather get a new Smash with less characters than Ultimate Deluxe. Trying out all the new mechanics and stuff is the best part of a new smash game I feel. I still remember how a lot of people wanted the Switch Smash game to be Smash 4 Deluxe. Maybe it was out of fear of not wanting character cuts but can you imagine if we were still competing with Smash 4 gameplay instead of all the new mechanics and changes we got in Ultimate? Even if we assume that they gave it balance patches to get rid of Bayo and Cloud nonsense I don't think it would have been nearly as much fun as Ultimate. All the new characters we got aside, imagine still all the smash 4 jank. With a new game we have a better chance to get rid of Ultimate jank as well.
