I've always enjoyed Sonix' gameplay to the point where it I flat out don't understand people's complaints about him playing Sonic. When he camps, he does it to trigger a response from the opponent with the threat of the clock, but when he takes an opening, he pushes the advantage state to its fullest. Most importantly, he excels in edgeguarding, which is one of the key defining factors that make Smash Bros Smash Bros. You go out there and intercept! Go all in and make sure they don't come back home! I admit to even picking up Fox to figure out why Light enjoys bullying people with Fox (especially at the ledge). Dozens upon dozens of SDs in failed edgeguards later (even as someone who typically SDs), I realize it's probably for the best to ledgetrap. To which I've come to appreciate as a defining characteristic that separates Ultimate from Melee in how where each title focuses on the strategy. Melee doesn't really have ledgetrapping due to planking thanks to the invincibility on grabbing and unlimited regrabs along with a dash out of ledge being invincible (also you can run through opponents unlike Ultimate!). For all the criticism blasted at Ultimate for buffed recoveries, getting off the ledge to center stage ain't easy. The point Sonix made that Cosmos discussed; answering EE's question of where the meta is heading where the top characters need to have super strong advantage states and balanced neutral and recoveries is certainly interesting. It reminds me of Muteace's explosive finish on Spargo at Rewired. I've rambled on enough. Good to hear Light is in great spirits from his losses (from the ranked #1 and #2 players of the season, no less), I will also say enjoyed the heck out of Cosmos' high octane match against Sparkle, a Hero player (trying not to say more so no stress!). Fantastic tourney; one for the ages and great episode overall.
I totally understand why Light's upset about Marss, and I do think there's a little truth in Marss pseudo-retiring once it got harder. Great vid so far though, love y'all!!

Can all yall saying that Light and Marss is just banter not read a room and kinda tell Light was legit a little upset at that? Like everyone is acting like its all jokes but light didn't seem like he was playing.
The Light, Kaninabe rivalry reminds me of the Momochi, Chris T rivalry in street fighter. It was always one of the most hype sets at any SF tournament. (Ken mirror btw)
For those interested, let me explain the difference between BOTH camping metas(yes 2)going on and why I think Light is wrong about Center Stage Camping…..and why a direct side MIGHT need to be chosen. *WARNING LONG READ* 1. Traditional Center Stage Camping uses great pressure tools to take use of the space of the stage. HOWEVER. Because of the strategies PRIORITIES, it has lean of prioritizing options that protect the stage itself rather then your hitbox, in order to create more opportunities to get the hit. 2. True-Space Camping( *new meta* ) also makes use of the entire stage. Except it’s priorities have it’s options lean toward protecting ones Hitbox then the stage itself. It’s not about creating opportunities. It’s about putting sole commitment in hitbox protection using movement and unreactable pressure whether the opportunities ever come or not. Because of this, the time spent on stage will lean toward, not center, but left and right. Characters attributes need to intensely tuned to a direction to allow for this. Sonic is exactly that. While confused with Corner Camping, that is NOT this. The difference is unreactable tangible pressure. Example would be Fox Laser or Sonic Spin dash. Unreactable pressure makes full use of the stage while maintaining tangible pressure. Hiding behind a slow projectile is not pressure, It’s protection, and while protection is the name of the game, almost every dedicated corner camper does not have the speed to make use of the stage. Therefore it’s corner camping alone. And confined to a corner is not optimal. 3. Bubble Camping: ( *new meta* ) Bubble camping does not matter where you are on stage. As you are very safe off stage. The tuning of the characters characteristics lean a heavy priority on protecting your hitbox rather then the stage itself. Because of this heavy tuning toward Shield and OOS, most people have to respect the bubble you uniquely create around you. You may passively protect the stage when you walk, but your options and more importantly INTENT of your options are vastly different then other camping. This is also why bubble camping is so highly strong for conditioning and why you see bubble campers seem to pull either a grab or dash attack out of no where. It breaks the fundamental of center stage making people question their options allowing you to walk around and do normally punshiable options. THIS is Game and Watch. Light is wrong because Mythra is a jack of all trades with a weakness where it matters. She has a above-average bubble camp due to her large lightning fast hitboxes protecting her. A great True-Stage Camp with her speed. And a excellent center stage. The problem, is due to Sonix revelations, Bubble camping(Steve/G&W)is potentially under True-Stage Camping. Which would mean that if you want to win at the top .001%, you would want a lean toward True-Stage camping. And while her strengths absolutely lean there, her weakness absolutely does not and that is clearly seen. My 2 cents and thanks for The read.
Very interesting! Although it’s a bit hard to understand. I would be interesting in reading it again after you make an edit to make the whole thing more clear. Let me know in the comments if you do.
@@AndreasSaag Thank you! I was considering doing that actually. Today I was going over in my head the clarifications because I realized where the questions would come that aren’t answered thoroughly that confirm each type. If I post, it may have to be a Google document or something less sketchy. Will see.
Cosmos didn’t explain what he was trying to say well because it came out as “you have to be good at everything” What is actually going on is how PEOPLE learn in general and how we can use that to predict a games lifespan. 1. At the beginning of the game, Mkleo dominated with a heavy advantage state leaning character IKE with ENOUGH neutral since he has a superior neutral as a player and was going to outplay people anyways. so now he could end then quickly. 2. Then mid game, everyone’s defense hasn’t caught up yet but their neutral had, so to protect his own he needed to up the neutral to stay ahead and solve it with a slippery neutral…in Joker. 3. Now everyone’s neutral, advantage and defense has caught up. Joker’s advantage and defense clearly takes the hit now. And He can’t advantage early enough with his slippery character to be consistent with the thing that’s kept him ahead this whole time: people’s defense being weak and imperfect neutral. And with HIS defense being weak, he’s more ever exposed. So the question is, is smash’s oldest and most famous piece of wisdom true: Don’t get hit”? Is it now more important to have a neutral and defense rather then a broken advantage state? Time will tell. But while you are here, don’t worry about the kills, they will come to you due to the weakness Sonix is talking about. But make sure the character has the possibility to get them. Pressure, but don’t get hit. (Also ZSS is a late meta character with all the right MU’s and going to make a major comeback, watch. Yoshi has enough of the right characteristics too. Get ready to see both characters 😉)
I think Acola was just having a bad weekend. Miya and Sonix outplayed him ofc, but he was having Procon issues starting from the Umeki set, and he also just seemed discouraged, i mean his in game tag was 'miserable'. Hope things get better for him
Light overreacted at what Marss said a little but that call-out was hilarious 😂honestly though, how is your friend just gonna predict your downfall like that? cray tbh
Caught it live, so just stopping by to drop a like! I can’t get hype for the spinning blue jims, but man sonix is a cool dude, so it’s hard not to be happy for his success
Great episode and guest. A little sad at the end when Carlos suggested that Aegis's recovery wasn't good enough to be meta-relevant, and Brian got in his head again about character choice. Sure, any tournament where Sparg0 and Shuton both do noticeably bad is going to take Aegis down a peg, but you gotta remember that Carlos is the same guy who lost a ten-game grand final to Sparg0's Aegis at LMMM just a few weeks ago. Yes Sonic can edgeguard Aegis, but Sparg0 (Edgar) was getting around that nicely in most cases, and also setting up great ledge traps to get kills pretty early as well. Overall, Aegis is good, and has only a few bad matchups like maybe Diddy and Min Min. Brian could consider a secondary like Pikachu or Joker for those matchups, but overall the main thing is to enjoy playing his main.
Yeah, Miya has made me wonder if the same thing that happened to Game&Watch could happen to other characters too. We consider people like Marss, Tea, or Kola to be the absolute peak of their character(ZSS, Pacman, Roy), and their playstyles are seen as the correct way to play them at the top level. But...what if we're all wrong? What if someone shows up in a couple of months and demonstrates that the character is way better than it seems?
I was rooting for Miya but Sonix played really well. Miya almost had it but Sonix clutched it out at the end. Great job to Sonix. But man, Miya not dropping a single game until Winner Finals is a big statement. Unfortunate Acola had controller issues and had to use someone else's controller. I wonder how different things would have played out.

i’ve been a die hard tweek talks supporter since episode one, but seriously, lights out is absolutely the best smash podcast out there
The relationship between EEvisu and KEN is so funny! HAHAHAHAHA, the blue spinning jims! :D:D:D
1:05:47 the best of ee + is the 2k light out tournament na only
The Sonix eps have been my favorite of the whole show. Get this man on more podcast episodes.
Props to sonix for playing well and staying humble. Also for shouting out his loved ones and his faith in god
Can all yall saying that Light and Marss is just banter not read a room and kinda tell Light was legit a little upset at that? Like everyone is acting like its all jokes but light didn't seem like he was playing.
I am dead ass a huge sonix fan now
Early episode is insane, expecting this to be a banger if its violating the schedule.
*WARNING LONG READ*
3. Bubble Camping: ( *new meta* )
Bubble camping does not matter where you are on stage.
Will see.
You guys are really staying on top of it! Great episode and congrats to Sonic for winning the most competitive event in smash history.
Need more Sonix cosmos scoot over Jim 😂😂 No but really this episode felt short and was super entertaining good shit yall ❤️
I love Light lowkey a mentor to Sonix
Damn EE, you wasted no time pumping this episode out. Port was a great event and glad Sonix won it. Love watching his matches.
Damn, Sonix is such a breath of fresh air for Smash rn. I wish him all the best and hope he continues to prove why he is amongst the best.
Happy to see Light beat the washed allegations and even more excited to get this early addition episode
Hope Light managed to pull out the competitive spirit sleeping inside Marss
Persona music at the start, some 🐐 shit right there. Awesome episode, as always you guys!
That what the fuck is a kilometer meme of Sonix is hilarious lmao
Fantastic episode! Might actually be the best from the drama, insight, mentality, and vulnerability.
I think Acola was just having a bad weekend. Miya and Sonix outplayed him ofc, but he was having Procon issues starting from the Umeki set, and he also just seemed discouraged, i mean his in game tag was 'miserable'.
Hope things get better for him
I heard that was his tag cause his favorite band broke up 3 days before the tourney
Yeah, he had controller issues. Had to play the rest of the tournament with a controller he borrowed from someone else.
“I just started runnin” - sonix gump
THE BEST PODCAST RETURNS
Light overreacted at what Marss said a little but that call-out was hilarious 😂honestly though, how is your friend just gonna predict your downfall like that? cray tbh
Up a stock⁉️ You know the vibes‼️ ⛺️🆙
Ayo ngl this podcast way better than tweek talks
both are great, but thank you for the support
Light johning HARD 😂
Ay good shit boys keep up the good work
Caught it live, so just stopping by to drop a like!
I can’t get hype for the spinning blue jims, but man sonix is a cool dude, so it’s hard not to be happy for his success
lights out keeps me going
Releasing before the Tweek Yaps podcast that's why Lights out is 🔛🔝📣🐐
Tweek Talks now scheduled for Monday mornings at 6am
I’m calling it now, PacMan is gonna get a new rep in the next two years and will widely be considered top 5
New lights out? You know the vibes 🎉
"You let him mash on you" same way you let Acola mash F tilt on you lighht.
Steve is definitely a different realm lol
Mashing jab is not really punishable as steve tbf, and acola got one of his jab chains off of a grab
You are one of the most annoying people who comments on any smash related content, honestly
The Best MF fox in the world! lets go! Amazing episode my boys 🙏🏾💪🏾
Shout out to Sonix, his run into Smash's future is looking great
1:05:45 EE breaks lmao. Just wait till Sonix tries to get Sonido in as well.
Another banger ! Christmas came early ! I thought it was Wednesday 😂
Sonic came right back!!
Miya is the top player we needed. ❤
I'd absolutely love to see Lima on the Podcast. I feel like he is a runner up with ppl like Shadic etc. getting more relevant
Did he send you? Lmao
@@EEvisu No 😂 I just thought he had an amazing run at Port
Really enjoyed this episode, so much to comment on!
Nothing but respect to Sonix, a professional through and through (no more 🔵🔵 jims tho please haha)
I really hope Cosmos can feel better in the near future, he's a great dude and he deserves respect.
And finally props to Light and EE for always keeping it real and entertaining, can't wait for Watch the Throne!
Light standing on bidness fr
Shoutouts to Sonix for winning the most stacked tourney of the year and his dedication, thats so respectable
Shoutout to Light for proving the haters wrong and popping off with a great placing too
Shoutout to Cosmos for shedding light on his mental, dealing with acceptance and having to turn up to 11 in order to keep up nowadays with the new meta, players and characters when being a top player for so long
And shoutout to EE for keeping on delivering with the bomb content!
Love all of yall and the pod, it always brightens up the day 🙏
