NOBODY Wanted my Dream Car
Вставка
- Опубліковано 24 чер 2023
- The 996 generation of the Porsche 911 has been my dream car since college. It was the new 911 at the time and owning one was only a dream to a poor college kid. Thanks to depreciation years later I was able to make that dream come true.
But all dreams must come to an end and I tried to sell my dream car. However, things didn’t exactly go as planned.

Modernize your interior with 1 simple upgrade... PCCM+ system
Totally worth every cent. You can get on at porsche of south orlando or the dealership in Longview
Good point. I put another system to add Apple Car Play, but PCCM+ would be an upgrade for sure.
Great idea!! Congrats. How do u like that foster exhaust? Love how your 996 is all stock? Nothing wrong with modifying them.
I really like the Fister exhaust. I’m planning on making some additional slight modifications, but they should all be able to turn back to stock if I want.
I want to put on a ducktail spoiler and 996.1 GT3 front bumper (essentially it is just a front lip). Inside I’ve updated the stereo and am planning to add paddle shifters since it is a Tiptronic car. Then some suspension updates and general service items as they come up.
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment.
@@OurRideLife those are nice mods. Ducktail really looks good on a 996.. lip too..
Good choice on wanting to go back to a "midship" Porsche btw...
Once you go mid-engine combined with flat 6 noise, its hard to deny!
They are very good. The Cayman GT4 or Boxster Spyder is the dream, but they are all good.
Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts.
@@OurRideLife There you go!!
I love both platforms when it comes to Porsche; 911s and Box/Cayman...
Hell, yeah ❤❤❤
This is exactly what has happened to me.. time wasters, low ballers, scammers, plain rude “buyers”, 3 people got the “check” on hand, then never showed up to the bank to do the transaction.. plainly put.. amazingly frustrating time wasters… I’ll check out your site…
Thanks for sharing as it is good to know I’m not the only one.

Here's a tip, it's a TIP...
Come up with a price you think someone would pay to purchase an original 996 base... then deduct half and you'll probably sell.
Fair point. I had seen a number of manuals getting $25,000, so I though $16,500 was a good chunk lower, but apparently not quite enough.
Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts.
I also have a 1999 996 but , with manual transmission . I however won’t consider selling it until I do the usuals suspects IMS, RMS and new clutch and flywheel. Even then I might just not sell it at all, since is a hell of a car. Enjoy all your videos. Ty
Enjoy your 996 as often as you can and I’m glad you enjoy the videos.
Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts.
1999 was not affected by IMS
The Tiptronic Is The Best !!
As a driver of a Tiptronic car, I can’t disagree with you.

Good call - kinda like dating a model everyone wants to play with her but no one wants the expense of marrying her
it is just bad timing. I reached out to you earlier on about the "hunt for a 996". At that time, you were not ready to sell. So I bought the gold one I have (which was a great deal). Too bad we didnt sync up, it would have been cool to buy from another youtuber. Congrats on the web portal. Hope it succeed.
True if the timing had been right I would have let you know that it was for sale. Of course the gold on your current 996 is the better color for a good thumbnail.
Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts.
For me this is a little scary for I own and even less desirable 2001 cab with a tip, thing is I don't intend to sell, have had it for 3 years and paid 12k for it, I like it just fine
Probably the best option is to keep it and when the 996 becomes what the 964 is now you’ll look like a genius.

I suspect your experience reflects the degree to which the enthusiast car market is "contracting".
There is probably some truth in that. Things are certainly slowing down and probably some are waiting to see what happens.
Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts.
You should have just registered on the top 3 biggest Porsche forums and put an ad there.
Fair point. I shared the ad on multiple Facebook 911 and 996 forums, but not traditional forums, so may have done better there.

Happy you're not selling it, I guess the only reason you might want to is if you want a newer model car and/or manual gear box - I have a tiptronic 330D E92 - they are different cars and I prefer manual, but often times I find myself driving an auto more than my 911 - I wonder if I had an auto 911, would it get driven more? lol.
Look forward to seeing other subtle mods you do on your car! If I was in the USA and needed one, I'd have bought it as I feel buyer from a youtuber, everything is documented on the channel and I can always leave bad review if it was (joking!)
There certainly is less reason not to drive it if you know you’ll be in traffic. I do find that I drive it in automatic mode most of the time, but one mod I’m planning on making is adding paddle shifters and then I think I may use manual mode more of the time.

996.2 enjoyer being able to get a Turbo or 4s model for a low price now
The market going down could make that possible and would make it a good time to buy. Only time will tell for sure.
Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts.
Can I sell my ‘22 Maverick Lariat on your site?
Unfortunately, it isn’t an enthusiast’s car, so wouldn’t get accepted. Hope that you have success in selling it though.

I decided to buy a 2013 TTRS vs 996 911 i reckoned if it we’r a manual it would have sold
Not a bad car and being from 2013 going to have more modern conviences. Enjoy it as often as you can.

@@OurRideLife deff, what car are you looking to replace the 911 with?
@@treedeblue I was thinking of going with a Cayman since I’ve owned a Boxster and then the 911. I’ve driven the Cayman and liked it, but haven’t owned one yet.
@@OurRideLife sweet keeping it in the family.
16500 and did not sell? You should have done a video to sell here...
Good point. If I decide to sell it at another time, I’ll make sure to post a video first.

Drop the price simple
Fair point if I kept dropping the price further I’m sure it would have sold. I started at $19,995 which was still on the low end and had $16,500 as the lowest I would take or I would keep it and start making upgrades. So, the lowest price was my line in the sand to determine what I would do.
Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts.
Too high asking price, and a saturated market. Hold on to your Porsches for now, prices are beginning to rise.
Everytime I get behind the wheel I’m glad I didn’t sell, so it may have worked out for the best.
Sorry man, no one wants a Tiptronic.
They certainly are harder to sell and go for less, but I figured it would be a bit harder to sell when I bought it as before my knee issues got really bad I wouldn’t have considered a Tiptronic myself.
Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts.
Most people don't want a 996 because of the headlights.
There are still some that don’t like the headlights, although I hear less of that these days. After all Jerry Seinfeld just paid over $1 million for a 996. Sure it was a very special build, but the headlights didn’t keep him away.

...LOL couch potato burps...on GT1 that won le mans, on all GT2&3s you Never hear a peep...but must have classy round...like grandad 55 Buick, Zooey!,,
As someone who visits C&B and BaT daily (and bids regularly), I'm always skeptical about no reserve auctions. The seller will really take any price? Why do they want to get out of the car that badly? Of course, the cynic in me assume NR sellers always have a friend bidding to make sure the car either: (i) gets to the desired price or (ii) if it doesn't get to the desired price, the friend will not actually require the seller to sell the car. It would be an awesome research project to buy the unlimited CarFax subscription and see how many of these NR auctions actually result in the cars changing owners.
Thanks for the insight and that would be interesting to see with regards to them changing owners.
Thanks for watching and sharing your experience.
As a rule, no reserve auctions fetch more for the seller than reserve auctions do. Not always, but mostly for sure. I myself would be leery of the person selling at a reserve price. So leery in fact that I have never bid on a car with a reserve price in an auction...
@@johnwinters9235 thanks for that insight.
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment.
@@johnwinters9235 Why would you be worried about someone who wouldn't sell their car at any price? I want a seller who values their car at least at some amount.
@@1855Media, I would argue just the opposite. To me, a no reserve auction shows a sellers confidence in their car.
A reserve auction is proven over and over and over to not get as much as a no reserve auction overall.
How was it not accepted on BaT? I see total trash over there...branded titles and all. What about your 996 made them refuse?
Interesting, I had been told that they would only look at better examples, so I didn’t bother to submit it. Apparently, I was told wrong. To be honest I don’t go to BaT too often as it seems everything sells high.
