These were two very well kept examples to compare with. Unicorns in their own way.

This is absolutely, one of the best videos that I have found, expounding the virtues of the 911 996. I’m now in my late 60s, retired Navy Officer and retired Federal Law Enforcement. The year I turned 50, coincided with the year I was promoted to Navy O6….and with the permission of my “commanding officer” (i.e. the wife), I gifted myself a very low mileage 1990 944s2 cabriolet. (I too, am a “convertible guy”!). I still have my 944s2, I love it….but I’d be lying if I didn’t admit to just a bit of “911 envy”. Life is short…and I’m now in the market for one…..again, with the wife’s (same wife!) -not so much her permission, but with her blessing! I live in New England, and my 944 has just tripped the clock at 65,000….all the records, all service and maintenance completed, and always, “winter stored”. It amazed me what prices 944s are going for right now! So, maybe it’s time! Sell the 944….and find the right 911. Again, great video. I would have liked to know if either had the optional hard top, Navigation system…and have dealt with the IMS bearing issue. Still, Bravo-Zulu….on a very well done--and entertaining AND comprehensive--video, sirs!!!

LOVE my 996.1, have a 997.1, yup looks a little better, interior finish is a little cleaner, but for driving experience, i truly prefer the 996... can't go wrong with either

Enjoyed your video. I have a 996.2 coupe plain Jane Carrera. Lapis blue with a savanna beige interior. I bought mine in 2014 and I love it. You missed one of the obvious differences, the cup holder in .2 along with the engine and headlights.i have done gundo exhaust hack and the short shift kit. Highly recommend both. I just replaced my halogen headlight bulbs and the reflectors with LED. It made a huge difference

First video I’ve seen with a car the same as mine! I have Aaron’s exact same manual (stick) 2004 C4 Cabrio in that black. Only difference is I have the original turbo twist wheels. Love the blue though!

Fyi, those are 991.1 Turbo wheels, not 997. Nice cars, gentlemen. I just sold my 996TT after ten years of ownership for a Maserati Granturismo and I have to admit that on certain days, I do miss it and it's boost. Other days, I'm more than happy with that glorious Ferrari made 4.7 V8. Safe travels ✌️

earliest 996.1 have cable throttle and they feel a bit stronger than later 3.4. The 996.2 3.6 motor has noticeably more torque at 1-2 mile high elevation. Flat Six Innovations prefers cable throttle 3.4. You have to like what you buy, drive one for 20 minutes, and PPI before purchase is mandatory

What sort of usual 996 preventative things did you look for prior to purchase? Or if not done, have you done them? IMS of course, as well as rear main seal, AOS, checking for bore scoring? Speaking of bore scoring, I've heard the .1's are better in that respect, that the boring out to 3.6 exasperated the potential issue. Who knows. I'm looking at an '01 4 Cabriolet (a Tip, as it happens, which I really liked much to my surprise) 85K miles, clean well maintained and with all of the issues I mentioned taken care of within the last 10K miles along with lots of others (brakes, newish top, etc.) I've owned a 987 Cayman S which I loved, but driving the 996, even with a Tip, was a totally different experience. Even the Cab felt more solid than the 987, and hearing that 3.4 behind me was magic. It just felt more like a real Porsche experience the way it's meant to be. And under $25K. Think I'm about to join the 996 club...!

fuck the tip. boroscopy is a must when driven in cold weather. Ims and the rest are overrated. D chunk or bore score is the problem. M96 is surprisingly reliable except the cooling. Just buy one and drive it.

Hasn't it got more to do with improvements to the intermediate shaft bearing, rear main seal and bore scoring rather than the glove box?

    • @husmanbros
      @husmanbros  11 місяців тому +4

No, the glove box is the single most important upgrade to the 2nd generation. Don’t test me, I will die on this hill.

I deliberately chose a very early 996.1 due to the stronger engine, IMS and cable throttle. 123k miles on now.

You guys have to learn Show, dont tell. Why in the world would you talk about the different instrument layouts and colors and not show it? Learn to shoot some B-roll to show what you are pointing at. We want to see it, not you talking about it.

What is up with you guys?
Looks like you have excellent content.
I’m 63. Do you know how much trouble it is to GET UP, and get to one’s phone? With a bad hip? When I’m drunk?!
    .
I took my first TV screenshot tonight. I don’t think I can post it.
    I’ll TRY to explain it.
    .
First, DON’T become “Influencers”. Just don’t. Tremendously bad mojo!
    .
But, on the other hand, you have good content, perhaps even great content, and so few views?
    .
I see, before me, the following (of the photo I can’t attach):
    4 days ago, 46 views.
    6 days ago, 219 views.
    NINE days ago, 92 views.
    .
Gentleman, I don’t know what to say.
    .
    EXCEPT YOU MUST DO BETTER!
    .
    Now get on it!

We appreciate the compliments - glad you like it.
I don’t know why our views are so low either - spread the word!
We need to become influencers so we can get into the good parties at Coachella!
