    Experiment has a relatively new product called Buffer Jelly that contains 3% petrolatum and is touted as "micro slugging." One drop smoothes over the entire face and I don't wake up buried in ointment. I LOVE it.

    I'm trying to be smart and add only one product at a time, so I think it's going to be the bifida biome concentrate. I see Liquid Gold is now Lipid Gold, so that's on my list for another time. Thanks for sharing such affordable products!

      Hey, Alice loving your videos as always just checking in and wanting to rave about two products I have discovered that I think might work for you too and they are the Thankyou Farmer Pollufree pore deep cleansing oil -this stuff is like putting silk on your skin, it is so good and it smells divine; herby not overpowering just the right amount of scent so that it doesn’t smell of oil. And the Some By MI Propolis B5 oil to foam cleanser- this stuff is a miracle foam cleanser that does not strip your skin at all, but cleans effectively so much so you can actually use it as a one-stop cleanser instead of doing a double cleanse, you have 0:02 to try this I think you will be very impressed 🎉😊

    Each time you talk about liquid gold I want to love it with the passion you do 😆 But unfortunately I felt like it didnt do much for me and somewhat broke me out despite that its so lightweight. Ah well such is skincare as you've said, theres no miracle that works for everyone. Tho I agree I absolutely love slugging! I only slug in the winter since I have combo skin & more oily in summer. I've found that the medicube red centella balm is a nice product for that, more elegant than aquaphor and more skincare benefiting ingredients.

    • @johnmichaelarnaud

      I also wanted to love LG, but it breaks me out, too. Not regular acne, but that red-bumps-on-the-cheeks I'm having a reaction kind of breakout. I'm not sure what's doing it.

    Alice! Hi! I love the feeling of slugging with Cerave! My face never feels sticky just a little slick because I use a thin layer and let it absorb for an hour before bed. Yes, agreed! BPO cleanser have been a game changer for me as well when I’m experiencing inflammatory acne because the leave on is too irritating with the exception being that if I have a pimple, I can apply a little bit of my thick BPO cleanser as a spot treat for an hour to really attack it with no adverse reactions.
    I can also relate in the fact that I thought I could never use sunscreen, because all of the western ones broke me out (I know why now) but switching to Korean was everything!!

    • @AliceintheRabbitHole
      @AliceintheRabbitHole  11 місяців тому +1

      Hmm aw drat, I wonder if that’s where I’m going wrong. Because I expect to dislike the feeling, I save it for RIGHT before I go to bed…which then means I have to hold my head still and up lest I stick to my pillow lol (I prefer side sleeping shhhh 🤫😆) I’ll have to try your method!

    I recently read some conflicting things about ceramides and whether they are present in effective concentrations or not ('why most ceramide products are a scam' the update and that whole discussion about concentration, sk-influx etc). What are your thoughts on this?
    and do you perhaps have some tips on how to pick a good ceramide product? (if you can't get stratia liquid gold).
    I enjoyed your other deepdive videos i am not sure if there is enough 'meat' on thw topic of ceramides but there might be on 'barrier repair/barrier supportive ingredients' as a whole and i would love a video about it ❤️

    • @AliceintheRabbitHole
      @AliceintheRabbitHole  11 місяців тому +1

      Yeah you nailed it: I don’t think there’s enough info on it (hence why I skimmed the topic here; neat claim but…are we sure?) I personally wouldn’t call it a scam as many ceramide-containing products have done wonders for my skin. But I’m also not sold on the ratios, the idea that some are better than others, etc. Tbh it might be another one of those YMMV topics!

    Love these videos that help us value these inexpensive and fundamental products.
    Aquaphor has managed to market themselves much better than most of the petrolatum ointments. And it seems like a great product for so many. But heads up- it contains lanolin, which some of us are allergic or just reactive to. For years, I used Aquaphor on my lips and never seemed to get ahead of the dryness. Hello Alice, I think I have taken my skin to a limit where my skin is suffering from so many active ingredients and I suspect that this is why my skin does not accept any sunscreen, even Korean filters, because I tried the one from scinic and my skin did not like it either and I thought I'm going to go the safe way and I bought a Rovectin physical filter that I tried yesterday and I was fascinated because it is completely undetectable on my skin and without butyloctyl salicylate, but I felt it dry after a few hours and at night I felt my skin resentful And I think the reason for everything is that I have stressed my skin and I'm neglecting my skin barrier exactly as you mention in the video. Thanks Alice, because I'm going to take your advice to worry about my barrier. A giant kiss, have a great week. Hugs from Chile 🥰 PS: Sorry for taking so long with the comments 😂

    Oddly enough, my dry and extremely reactive/sensitive skin does not like slugging. I have tried it a few times and, I really don't understand why exactly but, my skin ends up being irritated the next day. Tried with plain Vaseline, Aquafor, Cerave baby healing ointment, even with Bioderma's Atoderm Intensive 3in1 eye care. And it's not as if I was using any irritating actives underneath because I cannot tolerate any form of vitamin C, AHA or retinol : I basically just use peptides and barrier care/moisturizing ingredients and so those are the type of ingredients that were «locked in». Oh! Well! I guess it's just not for me...😕

    Hii alice ❤ are using tretinoin or only Adapalene your skin is looking so much better do you use it daily? I wonder if you have any idea if retinoids exfoliate like AHA/BHa acids or we need to exfoliate there's different opinions online lol

      I have never used tret! I’m happy with adapalene, and since acne is still a concern for me (ugh, adult acne. UGH) I’ve decided to stick with it for now as it targets acne specifically ☺️
      Technically retinoids do not exfoliate; however, they increase skin turnover. It’s almost a similar effect in that we are still moving our skin along, but …hmm, think of it as moving from the inside vs the outside? (Does that help?)

    Yes yes yes to adapalene. Definitely the worst and the best thing I've done on my face so far. The phrase no pain no gain is quite literal when it comes to using adapalene 😆. Also I am quite jealous that adapalene is included for sale discount for you, cuz in my country, while it is sold over the counter, adapalene is not freely available on the shelves. I need to ask for it from the pharmacist. Apparently since adapalene is over the counter controlled medication, the pharmacist has to explain the instruction to every single one who purchases adapalene. I wish they can include adapalene for any sales. I dont care how it's already affordable, I want it cheaper 🤣
    Another thing that worked for me is not a product, but a technique. I discovered the 7 skin method when my face was inflamed and super super dry due to adapalene. I cant use many of my skincare products cuz all of them stings my face except for 2 toners and aquaphor. At first I only used aquaphor since I cant use my moisturiser, but it is an occlusive, it doesnt hydrate my skin. So when i discovered that you can layer toners how many time as you need, I started doing that. Put several layers of hydrating toner on my face and topped it off with aquaphor. Works wonder. But I dont really use it on daily basis, only when my skin is super irritated.

      Ugh I hate when that happens. But yep the RNW is great for helping get skin back into shape! I actually didn’t like manyo’s Galactomyces serum 🤐. I’m so glad I didn’t quit the brand based on that as it was just really “fine” for me (one of those lol!)

    Thanks for these! Panoxyl's 10% benzyol peroxide lights my skin up! Maybe I can tolerate the CereVe

      Peace Out might be the absolute best. Super pricey but phew they’re good
