Congratulations on your advancement with your homestead. I have been watching your since you guys purchased the property and I have learned a lot from you. Thank you so much. Stay blessed and prosperous. Amen
How exciting! I don't know if you ever watch Homesteading with the Zimmerman's channel. Ruthann has dairy cows among other animals. It's pretty amazing to see all she makes with the milk from her cows.
Get some power poles that have been taken down for your poles. They make an awesome pole barn and are cheaper, sometimes you find free ones. Just a thought
I have 1 guinea.. I named him James and when I go out and he isnt around I holler for him by name and he comes running.. he knows his name just like a cat or dog would.. he is so funny to watch I love having him around
One easy grazing option is use a rope to tie the cow to a tree and they graze all around that tree. No extra fencing. A different tree every day. We used to braid nine-strands of hay bale binder twine saved from feeding hay, into ropes. Today I'd build a rope making jig (see youtube), but braiding is easy, three strands in each braid, tie in new lengths as you run out with square knots. Look at grazing/stocking units for how much of a field you have back there. Greg Judy youtube channel has a lot to say and a lot of hints for cattle grazing so the cow doesn't chew it down to nubs. Try to borrow a small brush hog and tractor to run around out there after you get the fences down and knock down any weeds so new grass can come up this spring.
Have you thot about the mini cows? My friend has a little herd of them and loves it for her smaller homestead. She has one bull and three cows. They give more milk than her family of four can drink, so she also does the yogurt, cheese, etc as well. Check into them.
Hello Mrs H,so happy for you guys getting a Jersey.I always wanted one too.We have 2 horses. With large animals, it's a constant fence repair.Just part of life now.😊I wouldn't trade them for the world.Have a beautiful day.
I just love watching all you do, and this new adventure is going to be the best yet. You keep doing and I will keep watching. Hey I have canned several of your recipes. The potato and green bean were one we love so much. Don't know why I never thought of that.
Congratulations family! I know you will do great taking care of your knew addiction. You should contact Humble Servants Homestead Channel because they have a cow and I am sure they would be able to provide you with excellent information about caring for your cow And they live in Georgia..
Everyone and all your animals have a blessed Christmas and a great year in 2025. You are two wonderful people and I pray your channel will grow. I love how you treat your animals. Living Traditions Homestead had talked a lot about her milking cow. You might want to watch some of their videos. I think they are in Missouri.
Dairy farmers in my part of the country use electric fences to keep the cows contained where they want them, which would work great inside your perimeter fence. You could use an electric or a solar charger. Much less material cost than building a second fence inside the perimeter fence. Best of Luck!
Iam so happy for you Miss. H. Its going to so exciting to be adding another farm animal to the homestead. We also eat a lot of dairy products too. Such a sweet name marabelle. Then maybe later on add a anabelle 😅❤ shel'll need a counterpart.
Congratulations Mrs Homestead Heart! I remember a couple years ago you saying that you really wanted a Jersey cow. I can't even imagine... I'm still trying to wrap my head around trying to get and take care of chickens. WOW!!!!👏👏👏
I'm so happy to have found you again! They've been keeping back your posts or something for so long. All I could remember was 'Mr H' and 'Mrs H'.. So excited for your plans for "Mary Belle" the heifer cow and pole barn! I don't know much about animal husbandry etc but I hope that your dog will be enough companionship for the cow. But then again, if she comes to you pregnant, it won't be long before she has her baby. Merry Christmas and early Happy New Year : )
Get a Dexter and you'll have good milk, butter and cream plus they never have a problem calving or milk fever. Another plus is the babies grow off to be good beef if you want to go the route, they are much easier to keep weight on while in milk. Bless you in the journey of a dairy milkmaid 😊
This is such a marvelous development for you. I've seen a lot of homesteaders who keep their cow in one part of the pasture, move the cow out and the chickens in a few days later to break up and eat the worms/maggots in the cow poop, and increase the fertility of that area for growing even more potential crops! I'm excited to see what's next for you, Mr. and Mrs. H 😊
Yay con! I am so excited for you. I look forward to seeing your journey. Please share the process even if you think it’s minor. Can’t wait to see Maribel.
I watch another channel called Homesteading With The Zimmerman's. Ruth Ann Zimmerman and her large family used to be Amish. She makes Cheese, Yogurt, butter and so many different things from her milk. I am just fascinated by her and the things she makes healthy from her Jersey Cow , she has two. She gets her kiss involved and I am amazed by her. She explains how she does all this stuff. That girl is very frugal. She writes dates on her milk jugs and rotates. When it is time to process it she pulls it all out and makes cheese. She makes Caramel sauce from her way. 😅❤🎉
I researched 2 years on chicken care before getting chickens for first time and I am sooooo glad I did! So I understand you prepping for a Jersy 😊 congratulations on expanding ❤ wish I could but don't have the space and I'm getting too old to start huge projects
Check out miniature cows and Dexter. Dexter are beef and milk and not hardheaded and mean as a Jersey. Short ,versatile, intelligent and make good moms . Dexters are also kept for pets too. Take less acreage, good browsers, gentler and easier on pastures and fences
Congrats on cow!! Wanted to share, please read about what cows can graze on safely - can’t graze them on alfalfa bc they can bloat easy. Would highly recommend True Grit Appalachian Ways & also Homesteading Family channels
Oh, how exciting for you! A lot of labor full of love. You two are up for it. I thought it very interesting the comment about mini cows. And good producers too. Very incouraging. Our homestead lives in my heart. I get such pleasure "living" in yours. Merry Christmas, Heart family. Marry Belle is perfect!
DEXTER COW! Not sure if you have looked into the Dexter, but it looks similar to the Jersey, just a smaller size. Still A2/A2 milk, just less (about 1 gallon a day)
Living Traditions Homestead had problems with mastitis with a dairy cow a few years back, I believe. You could watch their videos about the dairy cows. I believe they ended up having to make the hard decision to put one of their milk cows down. I think it was due to a stomach/digestion issue. Also The Mac's (in Mississippi) have a couple of dairy cows along with beef steer. Colby (Dad) milks the cow every morning.
Congratulations on your advancement with your homestead. I have been watching your since you guys purchased the property and I have learned a lot from you. Thank you so much. Stay blessed and prosperous. Amen
Right on Mrs. H! I love your gentle/careful/knowledgable way about getting your cow.... ❤
You’re such a responsible animal keeper, so happy for your homestead to get a cow. So much fun and great to have your own milk in the future.
How exciting! I don't know if you ever watch Homesteading with the Zimmerman's channel. Ruthann has dairy cows among other animals. It's pretty amazing to see all she makes with the milk from her cows.
I love her channel too!❤❤❤
They're in Iowa.......Ruthanne

That’s exciting. MaryBelle is such a sweet name. You’re smart for getting your infrastructure in before the animal comes.
I am soooo happy for you and your future plans. You are so great with all your animals, your new jersey will be one lucky cow!
glad that you prepare early, cow will be happy
I just love Mrs H when she's happy!🙏❤️🙂
Bless you…you are a responsible and caring animal guardian. We are all stewards of our lord’s creatures. Thank you…❤️

When Maribell calves, I think "New Jersey" would be a cute name for her baby.

Blessings in advance on the receipt of Mary bell and your new homesteading journey😊❤.
Yes I am so happy for yall 🎉
Congratulations Marybelle has a great mom and Dad.

You can add to your homestead skills making: butter, yogurt, and cheese!

Hope you and MaryBelle do exceptionally well together… prayers that you find her soon😊😊😊
Hello Family! The babies are looking good. "Milk Run"!😂😂😂 Mrs. H I can see you are very excited about receiving your new baby! 🙏🏾❤️❤️❤️🫂
A cow won't be happy alone. She needs company, if you don't want 2 cows maybe a feeder steer or heifer for the freezer.
Hi Mrs H , thanks 🙏👍😊
I'm very happy for you guys. I look forward to the changes you are making❤️❤️❤️
When you said "My Cow," the song "My Girl" immediately popped into my head. Good luck, and I look forward to watching your progress.

This reminds me of home when I was a child .
Stay Safe And Blessed

Hehe! The neighbors had guineas when we moved our house. They would come march around the wrap around porch once a day. Noisy buggers!
We love your videos, filled with Heart.
=)

As for me and my Jersey, we shall have a home! 😂❤
