I've been an athlete for a lot of years. So I used to do regular hill sprints, burpees, sled work, stair runs, etc.. But trying to keep up that level of conditioning when you're lifting on a regular basis starts to take a toll on your CNS/recovery.
I feel 10x better with three full body lifts per week, tons of daily walking, and lots of mobility work. For me, stretching and mobility used to be like a trip to the dentist. But now I've embraced it daily.
**One thing that's been great for my hips is slow paced max incline walking. Every morning, I start my day with 30 min on 15% incline and 2.5mph. The goal is just health and continued hip mobility. Doing this in tandem with daily mobility work and a way higher step count has made my hips feel better than they have in years.

Problem with us today, is we eat too much, too frequently.
If we can have targeted insulin increases, and not a constant insulin increase all through out the day, that would work better overall.
More fibre with our energy, to help put a dampener on it. Zero out processed foods, only eat the living, and avoid anything that disrupts the endocrine system, because an androgen deficiency for example for males, will substantially increase type 2 diabetes risk.

A simple trick: Go zero carb until you reverse your insuline resistance completely and then introduce some fruits and some grains maybe.. When youre insuline sensitive again and free from carb addiction habits, you will be able to moderate your carb consumption like normal ppl. Otherwise, it is really really hard for a carb addict to reverse insuline resistance and lose fat (esp belly fat) while on a diet that includes carbs and sugar even if its only fruits and complex carbs. Your body has to learn to be metabolically flexible and heal both physically and mentally before being able to “moderate” and live on a sustainable mediterrenean rich diet..

They are both great tools to have in the toolbox, but they are not tools that need to be used each and every day to see fat loss. I find all these debates on proper diet comical. It’s simple, eat the things God gave us to eat (meat, vegetables, nuts, seeds, and some fruit) and don’t eat what man creates. Simple. Humans have modified those animals heavily. This is true for most fruits as well. You cannot find softball sized Honeycrisp apples in nature or 10 inch long bananas. So I think what you want to promote is whole, NON PROCESSED foods.

I so agree with this concept! I have been on a low carb diet for over 4 months, loss 21 lbs. Also fasted for 1 month in March and dry fast twice a week. I think eating some carbs work for me , wholefood carbs. I started getting this pain in my head when my carb intake was lowest. Started to eat a about 30--50 grams more carbs now and then and I suddenly realised the pain has gone. You have to know your body and what works for you. I am not diabetic, no hbp etc. At 62, I am just trying to mitigate health issues , generally. I think I have found that niche, that sweet spot. like Thomas said, sometimes we really want to hold on to a certain way of eating for fear that changing things a bit will throw us off. I am only 5 months into this diet and I feel this way. I wont say I am keto, I am just very low carb. You have to find that balance. I eat one fruit if its available, less fat, normal protein and less carbs. Most of my fat comes from my my protein intake. I feel good. NO diet will totally prevent you from getting sick. Lots of other factors that contribute to sickness, but it will sure help your body fight off and lessen the impact of diseases. This is my humble opinion. Btw, that advice on planning your day and activities is excellent. It really works well. Keeping active helps you to eat less for sure! EAT LESS, EAT ALL THINGS MODERATELY!

I am 61. Almost 62. I lift weights but only 2-3 days a week. I am carnivore. Two years. I eat ribeye, bacon, eggs, butter, sour cream and occasional pork and chicken.
Since going very strict, I note that I am in Ketosis now every day. I also take L-citruline, vitamin c, magnesium, potassium, and I use a zero carb electrolyte. I eat no carbs at all. Butter is my go to snack. Sour Cream is my second go to. I am down to one heavy meal and just fats for any cravings. I do consume coffee.
I am not fat looking but know I have visceral and subcutaneous fat. Dr O'Mara says that sprinting is a great way to remove it and so I have started to spring as often as I can. I don't like wasting a ton of time doing cardio, but I'll hike uphill on the treadmill for 20 minutes before lifting weights. Gym time is about an hour of focused exercise and very little standing around.
I believe I am in a recovery that will take several years to reach optimal health. I was pretty sick for a lot of years. Walking sick. Autoimmune issues. All gone but for one issue, fatigue. I've had fatigue issues for about 3 years now, well before carnivore. I believe it is a result of the vaccine tbh. My latest focus is on good sleep, and continuing working out. I noted at 61 years old I cannot afford to stop because muscle wastes so quickly it's scary. I am 6' and weigh 224. Have a 32 waist and moderate frame. I feel the sprinting helping, and am getting faster and feel like the visceral fat is going away.
Age better. I think carnivore is the best diet I have ever had. I tried many before this and none of them worked for me. You are right, convenience is the issue for most Western people. Carnivore takes away the desire to eat, so it really is hard to over eat. I eat between 1800 and 4000 calories per day. Every day is different, but I listen to my body.

I've seen so many diets work for so many. None worked for me. My last go around was the Army Wellness Center and going through their testing and programs. In two months I gained 20lbs. First month down they told me eat more, but I physically couldn't without getting sick. So I kept trying to eat how they told me to and workout how they told me to. Second month I topped at 20lbs. I said that's it, I'm doing it my way. I dropped that weight but caused arthritis in my foot to get so bad I got pretty crippled up and that's about where I stalled out again. It wasn't until I went against all my doctors and nutritionists, Army and VA, and started keto that I was able to start dropping weight and improve my health. I even dropped my BP 30 points and stopped taking one of my meds. I finally found what works for me and it was because of UA-cam channels like this and friends who've tried it.

One thing NO one ever brings up is the amazing human capacity to adapt to food sources granted a popultion maintains their level of activity to activate epigentics.
Consider the Aztecs and Amerindians who use horticultural techniques to raise both the starches and the bioavailability (nixtamalization) of maize! Or the first shepherds who would force their bodies to utilize milk as a nutritional powerhouse. Heck, ocean bacteria and small organisms have adapted to metabolize the plastics we have polluted the ocean with! No matter which diet you try one key factor is to always ALWAYS move and/or exercise. Fascinating stuff.

Keto worked for me for two years when I started. Maybe there were other factors involved that I wasn’t aware of. It doesn’t work anymore because now I can easily overeat keto and carnivore foods. This leads me to the conclusion that it’s truly about cals in cals out. I eat a lot of carbs now and keep my protein moderate. I limit fat but not completely. I feel the best this way and my body seems to agree. I’ve also added high intensity cardio a few times a week and since I have enough muscle, I only do resistance training once or twice per week. It works for me maybe not you. I’m a big person and have no problem gaining or keeping muscle. I utilize high intensity horizontal resistance training when I do weights.

@rachelbrondel5858 Well, I can tell you that as of right now, my current mindset has shifted from "losing weight", to building muscle instead. As soon as I changed perspective, it became a lot easier to not worry about fat loss. I'll also add that, I did those diets because I was impatient, and wanted results immediately. Which led to increased cravings and the inevitable backslide. Aside from all that (and maybe I haven't even answered your question at all) if you're binging every 3-4 days, look to see what kind of nutrients you're getting, and what you're lacking, and adjust accordingly. Find whole foods that you enjoy, and then stick to those. Not sure if this rant was helpful at all 😅

    • @rachelbrondel5858

@@julianm.7157 yes it's helpful and I think my problem is mindset. I'm not even hungry when I binge, I just get in a trance and eat fast without even knowing what I'm doing. @julianm.7157 25 днів тому +1

@rachelbrondel5858 Totally understand. Nothing wrong with a full belly! However I personally believe that the overall lack of binging comes directly from feeling satiated from the whole foods that I consume. Which seems like such a no brainer when you say it out loud haha. This is coming from someone who's had a horrible relationship with food for years. Something I do if I want guilt free snacking is finding recipes that mimic the real thing. Such as cookies, crackers, pizza, etc. By no means do they compare to the real deal, but it can help feel less guilty 👍

Mark Bell shared several key insights and takeaways from his evolving views on nutrition, fitness, and personal health. Here are the main points:
    1. **Strength Over Muscle**: Bell emphasizes the importance of strength training over merely building muscle mass. Strength is crucial for maintaining youthfulness and muscle mass as one ages.
    2. **Diverse Dietary Approaches**: He supports experimenting with various diets (like keto, carnivore, and bodybuilding diets) to find what works best for individuals, acknowledging that different strategies can be effective for different people.
    3. **Reevaluation of Ideal Body Size**: Bell has reconsidered the necessity of maintaining a large physique for health and longevity, suggesting that a smaller body size might be more beneficial for long-term health.
    4. **Critical View of Dietary Fats**: Bell revisits his past advice on high-fat diets, especially the keto diet, recognizing the potential health risks of overconsumption of fats-particularly saturated fats-and their impact on insulin sensitivity and heart health.
    5. **Importance of Dietary Education**: He stresses the importance of understanding the types of fats consumed and their health impacts, advocating for a nuanced approach to dietary fat rather than broad generalizations.
    6. **Integration into Lifestyle**: Bell believes that any dietary or fitness regimen should fit seamlessly into one's lifestyle for it to be sustainable in the long term, suggesting that personal adaptation is key to success.
    7. **Prioritize Movement**: Encouraging regular physical activity, Bell highlights movement as essential, sometimes more so than dietary changes, especially for those new to fitness or struggling with strict diets.
    8. **Awareness of Overeating**: He warns against the dangers of overeating in any diet, emphasizing the need for awareness and moderation to avoid negative health outcomes.

The randle cycle is there to protect you rather than the norm and insulin is basically there to protect you from excess blood sugar. I don’t think Saturated fat eaten with protein is a problem.

Yup. Basically processed foods with saturated fat, added sugar and seed oils are the problem. I only ever eat protein with fat or carbs with protein, never carbs with fat.

every guest you have on is back peddling on keto, carnivore and high fat diets. Was this all just another fad? ive watched influencers in the last 15 years go from veganism, to paleo, to keto, to carnivore, and back to paleo- and gas light everyone to say they never really thought carbs were bad despite the dozens of videos they created drinking butter.

Of course it's a fad! All extreme diets are! You just have to find the 'fad' that works for you and you can stick to for life, IF there is an issue with your health/weight.

Greg Doucette says for most iit's unsustainable you can't do it for life. That is why I eat from his cookbook and losing fat harder than last time and seeing abs 🎉 yet I eat all food groups he lowered the calories and replaced fat in baking for example with pumpkin puree and apple sauce 😋

18:40 I'd disagree, and maybe it's my own personal bias because the mindset shift that helped me lose 125lb in 6 months with carnivore+omad and a few 2-3 day water fasts was going from "I'm unhealthy because I'm fat" to "I'm fat because I'm unhealthy, and I need to do things that are good for my health". AKA treating being overweight and obese as a symptom as much or more than it is a cause.
I think on an absolute best case scenario, being, 20-30lb overweight (which using percentage is probably anything much over 20% bf?) is a sign that you're doing some things that are sub-optimal and/or damaging for your health.

Wow. So glad he said that. I am 48 and 30 pounds overweight by American standards. Yet i have amazing bloodwork and feel better now then when i was 20 and underweight. I eat healrhy and practice meditation. I used to obsess over food. Now i don’t. Makes a huge difference. I see all these vegans and carnivores so obsessed about food. Its crazy . And they upload their bloodwork and neither is good.
