At that speed, most tires have incredible traction--just as long as you don't pump them up to stupidly high pressures. A 28mm at 60 or 70 PSI should be quite good for a descent like this, I think.

Interesting. Does it matter the type of wheel you have? I’m running 100 psi on my clinchers. I don’t know what I had on that specific argon road bike in Colombia. If it’s higher, is it prone for punctures at that velocity?

Most people believe that they have to make their tires rock hard to be fast. That's true to a degree, but the wider your tires, the less rolling resistance per PSI it has, which means pressures like 60 or 70 are common on 28 and higher tires. That's the reason most professional racers run 28mm. You want a degree of flexibility in your tires; too much PSI and you're sacrificing traction for straightline speed. At high PSI you might find your bike slides through turns; you definitely don't want that if you're not expecting it. The key is to find a balance between low rolling resistance and traction; you don't want extremes on either end (too high of a PSI or too low).

Thanks for the response, I’ll have to turn my psi down a notch and see how it feels. You’re definitely right about finding that happy medium. I used to have low psi since I never pumped causing me to get flats constantly. Now I’m doing it hard where that slide is kinda noticeable
