I've met them several times and trust me they are the most nicest people around. Very down to earth and very humble 🙏.
It's great finding these old clips because they remind you just how good looking Phil was back then. He was able to wear full makeup and not look in any way camp or effeminate. He really was a very good looking man, with amazing hair that some women would have been envious off. I'd never seen this clip before and it makes you wonder why the whole Boy George thing was such a big deal.
do you know Phils ethnicity? i read he is white, malaysian and indian but i wasnt sure if its true

Keanu Reeves from another dimension ;)
I agree.
You can really understand their own perceptions and the reason why everything jelled so nice.
@@cornflower9258 Why is that of interest?
They look like a good bunch of people. Knowing that they are still together proves that they are also good friends. Rare that bands stay friends for so long.
Plucked from a club where they danced together, and weeks later making irreplaceable contributions to a string of 6 brilliant pop singles.
Some are so lucky
I shook hands with Phil in Dublin TV centre in 1996. I had a quick chat with him and the girls and he signed a demo bootleg album that I still have. Seems like a very nice down to earth decent chap.
THANK YOU FOR THIS !!!!!!!!!!! Phillip looks sooooooooo perfection, WOW ******
Phil is a nice guy. Saw them in Dubai 6 years ago and they were brilliant.
They used to frequent my local pub in Sheffield (The Highcliffe ). Never any silly pretentiousness or privilege, they were just regulars who got on with their business & we got on with ours. Happy days!
Such grounded, humble people. Still touring in 2024!
Wow! Misspelling the surnames of all three of them was no mean feat!
Strike of genius getting the girls in, and Jo Callis of course!
What about Ian Burden?
Wow! A real treasure here. :-)
Thank you so much! I was waiting for someone finally upload this video. I saw a small excerpt of this interview and wanted to see full.
Adorable ❤
It’s a great story about how they found the girls. Like something out of a novel. Too perfect.
It's true.
Yeah. Not true though.
@@KarlHamilton what's the true version, then?
Their story would make for a great movie. I'm surprised nobody considered it yet
Wow knew immediately Madeley was the interviewer, that voice....he looks and sounds like a total square next to these guys
This Morning?
@@r4h4al no, that didn’t start till a few years later
Intriguing
Also the fact that you have Van Morrison in your channel. And a chorus too!👍
Without YT I wouldnt have seen this interview after 45 years since it has been conducted. Joanne was my crush.
Joanne was every man's crush, I think! 😍
The Human League was one of a few bands that wrote great songs in the Techno Pop world !! Really cool band !! 👍👍 Love "Human"
Great lovely ladies. A super talented band.
Gran Grupo
Tricky Dicky Madely was giving it the full Alan Partridge
I think Kraftwerk were the first group to not use "conventional" instruments. Or was it Tangerine Dream?
Maybe he means first British band.
Cabaret Voltaire we're also pretty early , they used treated guitar noise as synths anyway , it' s the attitude not the instrument that defines conventional
i was thinking the same thing
The Human League being interviewed by Alan Partridge.
You know Richard Madeley? Of This Morning fame.
If it was Marc Almond. "Ruddy hell, its Soft Cell!"
People in their 50s & 60s on Facebook who grew up listening. To the Human League: what is it with kids these days you can’t tell if they are boys or girls anymore.

Wow !!
Classic Partridge
Phil Oakey is a beautiful man wearing make-up. But he is and always will be a man, no misgendering necessary!!
Classic human league, when they first did Dare
God - was that wallaper about back in 1981? (I mean Madeley)
Nice kids
Phil Oackey?! Joanne Catharall?! At least they got Susanne's name correct.
I always thought that Phil & Joann were brother and sister.
Fruity Phil
The blonde is so cute
Even with all the makeup and earrings this dude understood manliness, unlike today’s woke he/she/they/them sorry excuses…🤷♂️

I've never seen this look before very interesting
It’s their first look from the early days. Instantly recognisable.
Lot of punk influence in their appearance.
Nice guy
i saw an interview with the group where Phil mentioned when he met the ladies' parents they weren't sure if he was a man or a woman. LOL!! Such a great group and fantatstic live.
Two girls are better than one vocalist!
