I should get a capo I'm not a beginner but I wanna open up barre chords with the capo since I never use or always lose my capos. I played one love both ways with open A E F#m D or If I capo its easy G A D C. so I understand the use just not the usefulness. maybe one day I'll unlock the capo potential I think playing with it on would make you better at listening to different keys easily.
