Just got back from a 2000ml road trip with my year old Emira through France . Now reached 5000mls on the clock. No problems apart from phone not connecting to apple play straight away sometimes. Never had such attention and happy smiling people looking at my Emira.
I had an Exige for almost 15 years. Never had a big problem with it, but I did get tired of the dealership being 30 miles away. The yearly trip for the oil change and other maintenance got too burdensome. Loved the car though. I considered getting an Emira last year but decided on a Porsche. Ran over a nail in the first 100 miles just like the one in your video, and immediately learned about Porsche's tire repair policy that you mentioned!
We were just at the Naples Lotus dealership two days ago. We specifically went to look at the Emira. I am surprised at how much better the car looks in person!
As much as I want this car, the price tag is a bit high so I went for a CPO 992 Carrera S basically same price as this new. Mainly for the carefree ownership.
I have a (used) 2018 Evora 400 - took delivery of it May 2024. No warranty, had about 19,000 miles on it, and I'm the 4th owner. Am I crazy? Nope. Although Lotus cars are known for having issues - most are small and niggly. I had my engine light come on about 300 miles after I bought it - I went through the owner's manual, tried to figure out what happened, thought I'd made a big mistake buying it. I found in the owner's manual one sentence that says (not verbatim) "after you fill your fuel tank ensure you turn the fuel cap until you hear it click "at least" 3 times". I went out, turned my fuel cap 5 times - drove the car several miles and on the 3rd start the problem resolved itself and it has not come on since. These cars are still somewhat hand-built and quirky - but - there is nothing on sale today that is better to drive than a Lotus.

I have had my Emira 3 months and had a CEL come on within the 2nd day. It was code U0416 which was a Power train system code for "invalid data received from control module". Reset it and never seen again and I am at 1500 miles. Also had to get the HVAC fan resistor replaced at about 600 miles. Also, got a CEL for the EVAP canister which is a known issue. This will be more of a GT for me, which is why I'm leaning towards a C8 and I do prefer a convertible.. With the C8's Magnetic ride, it's the best daily driver that can still get out of its own way and look good doing it. Here in LA it seems like everyone has a Porsche or a Tesla, so that does take some of the charm away from the Boxter. I'm coming out of a Hellcat and two AMG's, so looking for something different. I even toyed with buying a M4 convertible X-Drive, but I feel like I already had some of that experience with the AMG. Anyway...that Lotus is stunning! Enjoy it!
The C8 costs about the same as the lotus, has tech that the lotus doesn't have, like a front lift, video screen for your rear view camera. A back up can plus two front cameras, heads up display... Oh and the C8 can memorize places you use your lift, when I drive home, the car lifts its nose automatically and lowers it automatically when I leave. Built in sat Nav. I don't even need a phone. Wireless hot spot. Side mirrors that dim at night. A front cargo area. A built in dashcam that can record hundred of hours. Five different drive modes. Multi memory seat settings. And depending on the keyfob, it will change the seat settings. So if my wife gets on, it knows its her and adjusts accordingly. Remote start from like a mike away with out the need for an app. I can roll my windows down remotely too. Top comes off and now you have a cabriolet. The car has a zero to 60 time that bears the pants off the lotus. I can beat a lotus with out using launch control in sport, not even in track. The car also has wireless charging for phones. Heated and cooled seats and seating wheel. Door handles are hidden. Most people can't figure out how to get in it. That's fun. V8 versus a super charged v6. You can get snaps out of the corvette when you shift. Shifting is fast and in auto while dynamically change depending on your driving so the automatic shifting will become more sport like, even in touring. And of course the looks. Half the time I am out in the C8 I am getting filmed or talked to. It turns into a mini car show. I wanted the lotus emira before and had the down, but it kept getting pushed back so I gave up and got the vette instead. I think I made the better choice. 750s is my next car though, hopefully.

@darksideblues135 Everybody is different, and if you're happy with your choice, then you made the right decision. I personally have a Lotus Evora and an Emira, as well as a 718 GTS. Each car offers something unique-while I enjoy driving the Porsche as my daily, the Lotus feels much more special. That being said, while this Corvette looks amazing, I'm not ready to transition to an automatic transmission just yet. Just like the Corvette, the Porsche is everywhere-they don’t stand out. People don’t even look, not that it matters, but it’s just too much of a common car, at least here in America. As long as Lotus and Porsche continue to offer manuals, those will be the cars I stick with.
I wish I could say it was a trouble-free experience, it was not. My biggest problem is the stupid SOS check engine light never seems to go away it's a pain in the rear. I'll tell you I would buy this car over a thousand times, it is that great.
I have a Porsch, and the lotus is more fun. I did order another car. 718 GTS 2024 manual as well. I will do an update once I get it in Dec. Maybe it will be a 2025.
Then buy used and get one with complete service records and all recalls and issues fixed by the first owner. Let the first owner give it a shakedown. I don't like the idea of buying a new and first model of a car but that is just me. BTW, I have a 50-year-old Lotus that I can start up and drive anytime that I have had for 17 years.

@@darksideblues135 C8 is obviously a better daily driver and all around car and if you get the HTC, it's MUCH more fun. Still love the Lotus though. I'm crosshopping the C8, BMW M4 X drive and maybe the Porsche Boxter 4.0. Must have a ragtop!
Nice car expect a little of the unordinary sports/ supercar that’s how they are. As long as it drives the way it looks be thankful
It drives very nice. Its a more of the soft side vs the Evora.
@@v317865 very impressive
3rd cat delete will void the warranty, you have to read the manual. Don't believe what "the guy at the dealership said...". it's in writing
@@maddycatgamer83 not per the dealership I go to. They are doing the work.
Had evap code. I tighten gas cap slowly and thoughtfully, went away
Lol, no gas cap in this car. Just the door.
The window crack will continue to expand unless its fixed by resin professionally …?
Yeah, it's bad. Dealership does not have one. I guess It will take time.
I still think this car is worth it to buy.
100 % this is an awesome car I would buy this car over a thousand times again
Mine is coming from louts naples soon hope its ok
I wish I could say it was a trouble-free experience, it was not. My biggest problem is the stupid SOS check engine light never seems to go away it's a pain in the rear. I'll tell you I would buy this car over a thousand times, it is that great.
Sooooo glad Lotus pushed my I4 build out to 2025 so it made my decision to cancel my order easy. Immediately bought a Porsche Turbo S.
I have a Porsch, and the lotus is more fun. I did order another car. 718 GTS 2024 manual as well. I will do an update once I get it in Dec. Maybe it will be a 2025.
I want one just waiting for the automatic version
Manual is great.
Then buy used and get one with complete service records and all recalls and issues fixed by the first owner. Let the first owner give it a shakedown. I don't like the idea of buying a new and first model of a car but that is just me. BTW, I have a 50-year-old Lotus that I can start up and drive anytime that I have had for 17 years.
tyre repair is a small isseu tho -- that's on you bro, any one can repairs... i thought these were real issues man click baited us
@@michaelmullings why would I patch a tier? Replacement is the only option.
What kind of Porsche do you have to wait 4 years to get???
718 Spider but I think the dealership is just too small. Just ordered my 718 gts and took 4 months. Should be picking that up in a few weeks.
Tire you could easily touch up by yourself.
@@tobiaszdabkowski5450 yeah, that is the plan.
Hi Andrew waht are you using to sead and reset your codes in your Emira ?? make and model please and thanks Steven

Not sure how good it is
great update

This is the item I got I had to download a third party app to use it. Not sure how well it works I only used it once
I drive an evira gt with over 20000 miles on it ( not babied miles) I track it often, and ive never had a single issue with the car.
A garden variety floridian priest of which there are many, walks into a auto purchase and says I hope you take cash, either way it will have to be written off as a business expense with tax free dollars.

Toyota/Lexus engine, transmission, and electrical harness. I think you’re going to be okay. No car is perfect.
Dealerships don’t repair tires so they can sell you one
@@emazonreviews6269 I know. Sucks, but was a little happier not to have a patch.
Did you break-in the car?
I have 300 Mi on it now unfortunately it's going back to the dealership to get the front windshield replaced. I thought this would be a good time to have them also replace all the black plastic with carbon fiber. I will do an updated video with all the carbon I've added without changing the look of the car
The Evora 400/GT is lighter and Faster. Emira is too civilized, not what Lotus was all about.
Evora seems faster and sounds a lot better. I'm going to be removing the third catalytic converter hopefully that will make the sound better
Yep - but that philosophy was sending Lotus under - they can't survive selling a few hundred cars a year.
The Emira is a massive step into the sports car arena for those who don't what to go hardcore from the outset.
@@meenboli I agree. The world was not mass-produced and was not ready for most people. The mirror is definitely is a well-built machine and it's much more luxury and drives a lot smoother. Can't tell you yet if it's as fun. But I will soon
Please upload a video on the exhaust sound after taking off that cat. Curious to see how much of a difference it'll make

Prime and paint that garage, buddy.
My brake pad cracked after 100 km
sorry. That sucks.
So are British cars in general just junk? McLarens always have problems, so do Ranger Rovers, you're saying Lotus is the same? If that's the case, British cars being problematic seems to be the case.
They’re now Chinese
Yeah but every time I drive it it's awesome
Why go to a lotus dealer for a tire repair.. can do it yourself in 10 minutes.
Looks a nice car but can’t help feeling that I would buy German
@@chrisedge5007 I had both. As an everyday car I would do German as a rare fun car this is it.
Porsche windshields will crack too, just keeping it real.
As an investment has to be Porsche lotus will drop quick in value
@@chrisedge5007 Lol. Go find an Elise that has dropped in value without being totaled. Those GD things are like a guaranteed stock fund. I've been after an Elise for twenty years. No such thing as a bargain there, like EVER.
I am happy lotus covered it under warranty.
Broke or broken
Yes it's broken, I'm very sad but hopefully it can be fixed and hopefully it's trouble for you after work
Cant build a porsche?? Mustve been a 911? I know they are getting away from the manual for a year or so, but thats next year. There's a handful of odd paint to sample colors out there for sale, i would've assumed those were customer ordered cars? Yes, the intro of hybrid/ electric is killing of the manual gearbox. 🤬
Yes I'm working on a 718 now but the dealership doesn't want to sell it unless I give him a trade-in I think it's crappy but hey that's the way to get it.
. Because they want to screw you with ADM AND screw you with a very low trade in value. I'm a multi Porsche owner and will never buy another until my salesman of 20+ years goes to hell.
