I was 1st row, right in front of Vivian, at this show; unbelievable concert. When he did Mob Rules near the end of the show, he broke out a leather whip with fireworks attached at the end, so when he was whipping it around, they were going off right in front of us!! I couldn't hear for about 2 days after this show, but it was well worth it!
First time I watched this on a VHS tape in the 80's....me and my friends dropped acid called "the Chill Pill" ! We blazed a fatty and started to peak right as this started......it was a very surreal experience ! It's 2023 and what I wouldn't give to go back and do it all again !
I love Iommi's version of this song, but, man, Vivian knows his way around a fret board! I wonder how many young people even think of him as a heavy metal guitarist? This is amazing!
His work on the first two Dio albums elevates him to a pretty damn high level on the metal guitar hero's pantheon or whatever the hell you'd call it. I've got the Dio tabliture book sitting under Diary of a Madman and best of Van Halen. I'm not a very good player, but if I'm going to try to learn, why not from the best? Huge high five to Viv And Jimmy And Vinnie for the LAST IN LINE band! Love hearing great players even if it is 3 decades later.
Vivian Campbell is a Master Guitarist and a Real Genius Delivering Riffs and Leads at the Speed of Light !!! 💥 Epic Form of Play and Talent Above and Beyond the Call of Duty Thank You Mr Dio ; Mr. Campbell ; and Yes ... How in the hell could anyone dislike this video? Great band, great frontman, and classic performance. Saw Ronnie in 2003 opening for Maiden. Still brought it.
+sobg 1124 I saw metallica, Wasp and Armored Saint.. at The Tower Theater. can you imagine Metallica in a small venue and part of a triple bill? But Dio, maiden and motorhead is the shit!
+Joe Blow Wow! That would be so intense! I saw Metallica @ Monsters of Rock in '88, with Dokken and Scorpions, w/ Van Halen headlining. That was SO awesome for this (then) 17 year old!
I was right front center, in the General Admission section, maybe about 15 rows back. Completely soaked with sweat! No oxygen from the crush of the masses. Wouldn't trade that memory for anything...
Pride in their musicianship, pride in the joy they give to their fans. They make that abundantly clear. And Ronnie was simply the best. This is classic. 🙂
Watching this is like a religious event. Mecca, The weeping wall, The burning bush, whatever! We are watching a true master of the craft right here in this video. Musician, singer, songwriter, entertainer, METAL GOD! And Vivian is fun to watch too! Whoever uploaded this is my hero...
Man Vivian was a freaking beast back then! I've heard he doesn't really like those years but to me...he was at his best. I bought this concert when it came out on VHS!
One of the best shows to watch and listen to. I wanna know how Vivian makes it sound like there’s like three guitarists jamming. And how good does RJD sound… man that guy just owns the stage and makes you pay attention to everything that he sings and does. Unmatched.
Dio just rules the metal world 100 times over without question. I was there . Saw him since the Rainbow years. Till his last show. A man I will miss very much. His music will live fforever. I never stop playing his music. WE ROCK!
Lucky to have seen every tour with vivian campbell in dio some multiple nights back to back in different cities only a couple hours drive from the previous night.people say I wish I could turn back time and change my life I say fk that this was a priceless time to have grown up it was the best time in the world 🤘🤘🤘
by far the best version, but it didn't show the ending. I bought the VHS tape new when I was 16 and watched that sumbitch 1000 times. I sold it on Ebay about 10 years because I bought a bootleg DVD version. Still rocking to it 37 years later.
my 1st show was Dio/Dokken, Sports arena, San Diego, December 1984....cool to see this stage again after all these years. Even tho I was trippin I remember! Thank You!
I saw Dio on this touring 1984 at the Capital Center in Largo, ND just outside of Washington D.C. When the flames shot up in the middle of Heaven And Hell, I could feel the heat on my face in the fourth row and not just a little bit. Intense heat! 4th row from the stage where the best seats I ever had for a heavy metal show and this was the best one I ever went to by any heavy metal band. Dokken opened the show and George Lynch was great but Vivian was better.
I seen this show in New Orleans, Dokken Opening. I was 14..this show blew my fuckin mind..All the lazers, pyro, and over all production on this tour was amazing..still better most shows out now a days...NO BANDS are bringing the huge shows anymore
i got to see him in boloxi in 84 or 85, can't remember which.they had about 50% of the coliseum blocked off so there was only maybe 6 or 7 thousand people there but he rocked that place out.the whole night was one i won't ever forget.rock on DIO!
If somebody is wondering where is the ending of the song. Basically they kept it for a later part of the show. He sings more two or three songs after this and then he sings the ending part of heaven and hell.
This Live Performance of Dio "Last in line Tour" Made me want to be at a Metal Concert! This was "Circa 84" I Went on "1986 all the way through 2007" Amazing Journey🤘
Joe blow...I was at that Tower show! I hung out with Metallica for 2 days. Watched them rehearse and had some real "heavy" discussions, especially with Cliff. Got to say, Cliff was my favorite.
Charlotte Coliseum 1985 - i was there to see Dio on this tour...Dokken opened up for Him on the Tooth and Nail tour. I can still remember walking in just in time. Dokken had just started the intro Without Warning...It was so damn loud the metal hand rails were vibrating in our hands as we walked down the steps to the floor!! Damn I grew up in a kick ass time!!! Xers rule!!!
.... They say that life's a carousel Spinning fast, you've got to ride it well The world is full of Kings and Queens who blind your eyes and steal your dreams It's Heaven and Hell, oh well And they'll tell you black is really white The moon is just the sun at night And when you walk in golden halls you get to keep the gold that falls It's Heaven and Hell, oh no! Fool, fool! You've got to bleed for the dancer! Fool, fool! Look for the answer! Fool, fool, fool!
WHEN THAT FIRE HITS THE SOUND IS SONIC... THE CROWD IS COMPLETELY POSSESSED. DIO BURNS IN HELL NOW... HE IS WITH HIS MASTER... HIS SOUL BEING RIPPED APART AND TERRORIZED BY THE DEMONS HE ONCE EXALTED FOR EVER AND EVER...
I am so jealous of anyone who got to see this live! I have this vhs and it is just amazing! I actually had got a free ticket to see Dio for donating blood a few years ago with Iron Maiden and I did not go and now I just have total regret, sucks
heretic600 I did in 2003. Sadly the sound where I was sitting was horrible, couldn't hear the guitar well or the VOCAL but there are vids on youtube. Just put Montreal 2003 Dio.
Crashbanksbuysilver notice how I typed Ritchie freakin' Blackmore was playing THAT NIGHT. (2003) Craig Goldie isn't lythe with black hair, nor would have Dio said 'ladies and gentleman, Ritchie Blackmore'
I think I've watched this about 100 times now. Never gets old. Vivian Campbell is amazing and that solo is one of the best.
"Vivian Campbell and his magic guitar"! Yes!

Nice wish I was there bro . I was first row in Connecticut for lock up the wolves...I'm sure it was not the same. Your Lucky

Not just the amazing Vivian, this band was a terrific war machine. Dio-Appice-Schnell-Bain-Campbell, all hail🤘🏻
I love Iommi's version of this song, but, man, Vivian knows his way around a fret board! I wonder how many young people even think of him as a heavy metal guitarist? This is amazing!

Wow, Vivian was a monster player with Dio…underrated in my opinion.
@@sergiof8625 Absolutely!
In my opinion this song is the best Black Sabbath anthem. Nobody can ever equal DIO
How in the hell could anyone dislike this video? Great band, great frontman, and classic performance. Saw Ronnie in 2003 opening for Maiden. Still brought it.
I saw him on the same tour at Concord Pavilion in California with Motorhead opening and Maiden headlining! One of the best shows I've seen!
Also saw him opening for Maiden in 2003 - Best concert ever!
Because metal isn't for everyone. You have to be cool first!
I saw Ronnie open up for Maiden back in 2003 as well!
@@Jacobin777 "2003"... Hahahaha
Vivian and his magic guitar
I saw Dio, Motorhead, and Iron Maiden all at once. Man, the greatest show ever!!

Lol.
I'm officially jealous.
So did I, Toronto 2003!!! Best concert ever!!
The concert happened on Vivian's 22th birthday. Ronnie says "Happy birthday" at 8:55.
I was there!
+John Marinari Me too.. section F.. one of the best concerts of the 80's and there were a bunch
Really?? Wouwwww. Orda olmayı çok isterdim
Şimdiye kadar gördüğüm en iyi konserlerinden biri !
I was right front center, in the General Admission section, maybe about 15 rows back. Completely soaked with sweat! No oxygen from the crush of the masses. Wouldn't trade that memory for anything...
+John Marinari Cool. You saw a legend.
One of the best live guitar solos ever! Vivian Campbell and his magic guitar!
0:57 my goodness so much soul in those runs🔥🤘🏼Dio will forever have my heart for singing like an r&b singer in rock metal 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
Pride in their musicianship, pride in the joy they give to their fans. They make that abundantly clear. And Ronnie was simply the best. This is classic. 🙂
I saw DIO in San Antonio on the Last in Line tour 1984 & he stood *10 FEET TALL* on stage.

Don't forget Elf, not quite as heavy, but still rockin'!
Ronnie James Dio was such a presence on stage and his vocals were loud and strong !!!! An absolute class act and gentleman of rock.
One of the best shows to watch and listen to. I wanna know how Vivian makes it sound like there’s like three guitarists jamming. And how good does RJD sound… man that guy just owns the stage and makes you pay attention to everything that he sings and does. Unmatched.
Campbell's "magic guitar". It's a pity they would never have played together again.
Dio just rules the metal world 100 times over without question. I was there . Saw him since the Rainbow years. Till his last show. A man I will miss very much. His music will live fforever. I never stop playing his music. WE ROCK!

I agree. Nothing like the 80's. Concerts were my life. Hitchhiked to several shows. I'd go back to do it again and have even more fun.
i don't care what anyone says ronnie was and is greatest metal singer of all-time with apologies to halford.
Die hard Halford fan, and I have to agree. ily Rob but, Ronnie is the king.
@@Alnilam8888 Even Halford already said once that he gets inspiration before going on stage by listening Dio.
Love him or hate him, V.C. is one of the best guitarist's I've ever heard.
I owned this on VHS back in the day man Vivian cambell was posessed in this concert.
by far the best version, but it didn't show the ending. I bought the VHS tape new when I was 16 and watched that sumbitch 1000 times. I sold it on Ebay about 10 years because I bought a bootleg DVD version. Still rocking to it 37 years later.

I wore out my VHS tape of this! Such a killer song and solo.
I most have watch this VHS Metal Live Concert in 85 Hundreds of time, and what made me want to be at a Metal show in 86 and the rest is HISTORY🤘
Viv's solo on Heaven and Hell is so badass. And that Aria Explorer with the dayglo is so awesome. Best guitarist Dio ever worked with.
This show cemented Vivian's ability of the fret board.
