Watched your video and had to get the quick shifter for my 2018 AT AS. Installation went smooth, initialization smooth, but it would NOT work! Test ride, adjustment, test ride and nothing. Spent 2 hours on it and got nowhere but frustrated. Then on the last test ride I get a check engine light? Dropped by the local dealer and they found it was throwing a “Bad Clutch Switch Error”... what? Never had an issue before. But bumping the starter in 1st no clutch it lurched forward. The computer thinks the clutch is pulled in when it isn’t which disables the quick shifter! More investigation at home and the after-market shorter clutch lever’s shape was different where it makes contact with the switch. It was holding the switch on all the time regardless of the lever position. I put the OEM lever back on and test drove. Worked perfectly! Long story short, if it doesn’t work at all but initializes, check your clutch lever and switch! I also blew it and purchased the $525 with shipping version that says it is for the 2018. What I found is they are all the same but the 2018 comes with the shift foot lever. I could have purchased the 2022 version without the lever for under $200 and used the existing lever. Pins, shifter mechanism, electronics look identical. The quick shifter is addicting and best upgrade yet! Thanks for the video and keep up the content! 👏

Hi,thank very much for your instructive video! It encouraged me to install the QS myself! ! Anyway my understanding of the original instructions by Honda differs at some point a little bit from your description: the 119mm and 131mm markers are exactly the space! between which the little rubber clamp has to be placed and fixated by the isolation tape. The clip with the snap fastener has to be wrapped around the rubber clamp before being fixated at the bike frame - the clamp and the tape obviously serving as some kind of protection for the cable. In the video the rubber clamp and the clip to fix at the frame at least seem to be installed at separate places, the clamp with the tape essentially being without function(?) The 185mmmarker is reserved for the cable binder to fix at the cable tree of the Honda. Or have I messed up something? Thank you so much for your efforts!

If not - how hard is it to get the electrical tape with the exact dimensions they require? Also, how exactly did you jump the SCS connector? Couldn't figure out what you were using to actually do it. Overall seems very straightforward and easy to install. Thanks!!

Hi there, I'm not sure it will make it smoother, usually the shift from first to second gear is the rougher of them all because first is so short. Hello Sir, thanks much for great video on installation. Quick question - can you check if you get false neutral between 5 and 6 gear as well using quickshifter ? Thanks Petr
Hi Petr, I do not, I've done 3000 miles (+-4800km) so far when I rode to Seattle and never got the false neutral. Part 1 of that ride coming out in 2 weeks by the way 😀
@@AlbesADV I will! Gonna testride them both on Saturday. Dry feel is that Tiger 900 Rally fits me better, I’m a tall guy. AT need some adjustments on footpegs and handlebar.. First world problems, right 😅
Not really, the system assumes you are decelerating with the throttle closed and when you kick down 1 gear, the QS blips the throttle up to review match. If the throttle is already open , the QS will do nothing
@@AlbesADV Some say it can be done, others say it can't, Everyone says something different lol :D There's no way to even check it yourself because demo have DCT only. In the Tracer 9GT you need to close the throttle (QS 2GEN) On the Tiger 900 you can downshift with the throttle open, On the Tracer 9GT+ (QS 3GEN) you can also downshift with the throttle open using the Quickshifter. I don't mean shifting down a gear without QS by hitting the right revs, because that can be done on any motorcycle without QS. I think this is very important because you can shift down a gear with the throttle open using QS and immediately shoot forward. its very dynamic move when overtaking other vehicles.
Hi, could you tell me if the pedal is as soft as when you shift gears using the clutch? I'm not sure if mine it's working correctly, I feel the pedal a bit hard
The pedal feel should be the same, if you go to the quick shifter menu you can adjust the sensitivity, maybe that will help. By the way when the QS is working correctly you can hear it cutting the throttle for a fraction of a second on upshift and blipping the throttle on downshift
These days I tested the quickshifter better and now i'm sure that it work because I tried to disable it and most of the time I couldn't even shift gears from how hard the pedal is, so the quickshifter do its job... however I still don't understand why shifting gears doesn't always behave the same way, for example shifting from 3 to 4 gear at 5000 rpm sometimes is really super fast and fluid, other times is more rough. also sometimes when I shift down the bike has a little forward overhang
That is pretty weird, I can't think of anything that could give that problem, the only thing is, make sure that the pedal itself moves smoothly, like the actual shift lever pivots freely when disconnected. Long shot, you might want to make sure the chain is tensioned properly and the rear wheel spins smoothly, good luck 🤞
I, on the other hand, have the problem that from 5th to 6th gear it occasionally picks up, maybe I have to change more revs, calculating that they are running in I don't force the accelerations much. Thanks for the video, very detailed
I bought it at Socal honda powersports, same place I bought the bike because they still give me a discount. But you can find it on ebay , just make sure you also write OEM 👍
@@AlbesADV thank you for the answer, but I thought you were from somewhere in Europe. Since I’m constantly traveling from Brazil to Germany I was considering buying it there. Brazil is too expensive.

Grazie in anticipo.
Ciao Vark, l'unica cosa che puoi provare è di riprovare a disabilitare il quick shifter e riabilitarlo e vedere se il problema si aggiusta, fammi sapere
Is there anything special about the jumper wire we should be aware of? I am a luddite when it comes to electrical so please explain it in terms a cave man would understand!
I have a problem. I did everything according to the instructions, but the check engine light appeared and the DTC error was 107. What did I do wrong and how to fix it? After entering initialize, nothing else appeared
The is a fault with the shift sensor, the first thing I would do is check that everything is plugged properly, no bent pins etc and there is not a pinched or worn wire. Did you jump the maintenance plug before the inizialization?
@@AlbesADV I think so. I entered service and turned on QS, but after entering Initialize, nothing else happened. Black screen. I think it didn't have the proper voltage due to the thin wire that I connected the pins to
I had to laugh at the Honda instructions also. Pictorially, very good. But, grammatically outrageous. Anyway, I’m hesitant, no offense, to short the service plug on your word. I apologize, I have a brand new ‘24 AS. Do you have a reference to share?
I looked at the service plug and noticed that it's just a jumper, you can find the service plug on ebay, it's not excessively expensive but if it makes you feel better that is probably the vai to go 😀👍

@@AlbesADV I will! Gonna testride them both on Saturday. Dry feel is that Tiger 900 Rally fits me better, I’m a tall guy. AT need some adjustments on footpegs and handlebar.. First world problems, right 😅
Lol, right. Enjoy the test ride 😀👍
Does anyone know if the quick shifter comes standard on a 2024 model base?
I don't think so, at least not in the USA
Can quickshifter shift gears down with open throttle?
Not really, the system assumes you are decelerating with the throttle closed and when you kick down 1 gear, the QS blips the throttle up to review match. If the throttle is already open , the QS will do nothing
@@AlbesADV Some say it can be done, others say it can't, Everyone says something different lol :D
There's no way to even check it yourself because demo have DCT only.
In the Tracer 9GT you need to close the throttle (QS 2GEN)
On the Tiger 900 you can downshift with the throttle open,
On the Tracer 9GT+ (QS 3GEN) you can also downshift with the throttle open using the Quickshifter.
@@AlbesADV ok thank you tomorrow I Will test for more time
These days I tested the quickshifter better and now i'm sure that it work because I tried to disable it and most of the time I couldn't even shift gears from how hard the pedal is, so the quickshifter do its job... however I still don't understand why shifting gears doesn't always behave the same way, for example shifting from 3 to 4 gear at 5000 rpm sometimes is really super fast and fluid, other times is more rough. also sometimes when I shift down the bike has a little forward overhang
Where did you buy the quick shifter?
I bought it at Socal honda powersports, same place I bought the bike because they still give me a discount. But you can find it on ebay , just make sure you also write OEM 👍
@@AlbesADV thank you for the answer, but I thought you were from somewhere in Europe. Since I’m constantly traveling from Brazil to Germany I was considering buying it there. Brazil is too expensive.
@jphortense i understand the confusion, I'm from Italy but I live in California
Thanks, how long take it the installation kit??
Probably between 2 and 4 hours, Depends on how comfortable you are at taking the bike apart
@@AlbesADV Thanks Albe, At a Honda dealer they asked me for 3 hours of labor, I saw it excessive and that's why I asked you, now I have found one that only asks me for 1 hour of labor to install it...🤔
Very well 👍
Ciao Albe,
Grazie in anticipo.
Ciao Vark, l'unica cosa che puoi provare è di riprovare a disabilitare il quick shifter e riabilitarlo e vedere se il problema si aggiusta, fammi sapere
Are you still happy with it? Im thinking about getting these for my ATAS
I am, I still love the QS
@@AlbesADV I got me the QS for the 2022 model which is cheaper and also fits the 2020/21 model. I made a little testride and I already love it :)
Nice!!! 👍
Is there anything special about the jumper wire we should be aware of? I am a luddite when it comes to electrical so please explain it in terms a cave man would understand!
Nothing special, any wire will do, just put it in the plug like in the video
Does it have a loud shifting sound like the Yamaha tracer gt ?
No loud shifting sound, as a matter of fact never even noticed
Do you have the stock exhaust ?
Yes
I have a problem. I did everything according to the instructions, but the check engine light appeared and the DTC error was 107. What did I do wrong and how to fix it? After entering initialize, nothing else appeared
The is a fault with the shift sensor, the first thing I would do is check that everything is plugged properly, no bent pins etc and there is not a pinched or worn wire. Did you jump the maintenance plug before the inizialization?
@@AlbesADV Yes, I connected the 2 pins according to the instructions, but is it possible that the cable I used to connect these pins was too thin?
@Halfmovies that could be, but it had to be really really thin, double check everything and try again also recheck the other wires around the shifter
@@AlbesADV I think so. I entered service and turned on QS, but after entering Initialize, nothing else happened. Black screen. I think it didn't have the proper voltage due to the thin wire that I connected the pins to
@Halfmovies sounds plausible
I lika the vedio a lot!
🤣👍
Nice!
👍👍
Thanks Dmitry 👍
That dummy plug fooled me
What dod you have to pay for the qs ?
$435.22 including taxes
I had to laugh at the Honda instructions also. Pictorially, very good. But, grammatically outrageous.
Anyway, I’m hesitant, no offense, to short the service plug on your word. I apologize, I have a brand new ‘24 AS. Do you have a reference to share?
I looked at the service plug and noticed that it's just a jumper, you can find the service plug on ebay, it's not excessively expensive but if it makes you feel better that is probably the vai to go 😀👍
Thanks Albe. I haven’t looked at the service plug yet, I’ll check it out. Good job on the videos!
Initialization Successful. Test ride!!!
Well done man 👍
Gambiarra
are u Portuguese?
Nope, Italian 🇮🇹
@@AlbesADV ale una pizza hawaii with pineapple… i like your videos lol
Thanks Mich, I actually love Hawaiian pizza, to the horror of my fellow Italians 🤣🤣
As simple as that was, why the hell didn’t Honda make it standard equipment? Ridiculous!
My best guess is to keep cost down 🤷🏻♂️
That motor sounds terrible. Way to much stuff going on in there?
