Thanks Coral. We’re based full time on an industrial estate for three years. It’s been ok, it’s next to a nature reserve and during the day we get off and out to the new forest. Weekends are so quiet it’s lovely.

I ended up throwing that starter away as I think I might have burnt it alive putting it too close to the log burner 😩🤦♀️😂 Did have success with another one and made 2 loaves-first one wasn't great, 2nd one was better. Forget to tell you that I ordered some of those seeds. Gonna plant them in my allotment once it warms up. Industrial estates make good park ups tbf. Yep, it did seem late for the caterpillar, although google seemed to be saying that they are active between aug and april 🤔 Got the einkorn flour from ebay. Bit more expensive than refular flour but better quality and less 'bad' gluten apparently. I've made 2 loaves at my daughters. 1st one wasn't great but the2nd one was better. My next challenge is making it in the van without a proper oven, lol. 😬 X

Blimey, you must be patient waiting for wheat seeds to grow, lol. I wouldn't get my dutch oven in the log burner. I've finally had some success with my starter though (in my van) which is very exciting! Lol, saddo. So I will try the bread soon. Just had to get LPG today as I didn't want my gas to go whilst baking bread 🤦♀️😂 x

Hi Coral 👋 hope you had a good Xmas/New Years eve 👍 interesting to see what happens with the sour dough, I like a bit of sour dough too 👍 I hear a lot of people slagging off industrial estates/urban park ups but I think they’re all right every now and then, and their surprisingly quiet too as you said. They normally have big skip bins too so ideal for getting rid of rubbish/recycling/waste. Great advice for anyone wanting to make their own fire lighters. I used to use a bit of egg box, drier lint and candle wax, never thought of using Vaseline! Up until recently I’ve wild camped for years, the house I grew up in backed on to forests so I used to come home from school/work on a Friday night a bugger off into the forest for the weekend, Friday night to Sunday afternoon 👍 I’m hopefully going to look at a 2001 Iveco in the coming weeks, the guy lives in Exeter so not far from me. He’s asking £8200 but I made him a offer of £7750 and he was happy with that so we’ll see 🤞

Or did you wrap it so that you don’t burn yourself? We used to heat wrap our exhaust manifolds on our drift cars. Yeah the Iveco’s already converted, only thing I’d like to add is a wood burner. It needs some welding and a few other bits but I think that offer is reasonable for what it is, unless I go and view it and it’s falling apart 😂 I just can’t believe what some people are asking for vans now, £30K,£40K,£50K, there’s a woman in Swanage, Dorset that’s not far from me and she’s asking £63K for her Citroen relay/Peugeot boxer. Obviously a newer van but that’s bonkers, to me at least 😜

Hey there, been using a bit of smokeless fuel which stays warmer than wood, but yes, I wouldn't mind trying the night logs. I have some castor oil but find it really thick and not easy to use. Maybe some coconut oil would help. Cheers 😊

They do those night logs ideal for keeping van warm at night also top tip castor oil for skin works wonders mix with coconut oil less greesy
