    --------------------------------------------------
    Following is the transcript of the video:
    Robert Wright: In real mindfulness meditation, calm isn’t the only object of the game. I mean, it's good. Calm is better than not calm by and large. but the point of having a calm mind is then you can start examining other things that are going on.
    You just get a finer view of things and you often see beauty in things you wouldn’t have seen it in.
    Now when you turn your attention to what's inside your mind, that's when things can get more therapeutic, in a way. Because one thing you can look as problematic feelings. You’ll feel a feeling surface and the fact that your mind is calm will let you examine the feeling rather than get carried away by it.
    So like a feeling of anxiety that might have triggered just a train of unpleasant thoughts and like disaster scenarios won't do that because you're not blindly following it. Instead, you're observing it. And that is the way you handle things inside your head, in general in mindfulness meditation. Thoughts, feelings, etc. Doesn't mean the feelings go away necessarily but it does give you the option of changing your relationship to the unpleasant feelings in ways that not only take some of the unpleasantness out of them but gives you an actual clearer view of the world.
    Because face it, anxiety very often gets you to come up with thoughts that are kind of semi-crazy. You know, you're just exaggerating the chances that things will go wrong, you're imagining people are thinking about you, thinking unpleasant things about you. When in fact they just don't care about you that much, they’re probably not thinking about you at all. So it can be very clarifying exercise and is that’s the whole premise of Buddhism. Is that we don't by nature see the world clearly and so meditation is one of the disciplines in Buddhism that helps you see things more clearly.

    Meditation has teached me to accept all feelings that I encounter. Wether being happy, sad, dreadful or any other emotion, they are part of my body but are not me. Just because I didn't get enough sleep the night before and I feel depressed, doesn't mean I am depressed. My mind has slowly become an observer of these body sensations and isn't encaptured by them as before.

    When I meditate I feel like my consciousness takes a back seat in my mind (I feel very far away). Then I start to feel like my head is both looking down AND looking up - at the same time - very confusing. Then I feel like im floating, I can no longer feel my body - no longer aware where each part of my body is. Then I feel like im spinning - like a spin top. After 8 minutes when I finish my meditation I open my eyes but now I feel disconnected with the world around me and feel a strong urge to lie down and close my eyes. If I just go about my day its like im controlling a body that’s not mine for about 20 minutes until the effect wears off.

    I've been meditating for 16 months, I use guided meditations. Some Long some short, I mix them up. My anxiety is now very much in control, I don't suffer from the depression I was feeling before, if it comes it only stays for a short while, I just ignore the sensations. My Psoriasis has cleared to 95% and I am on 25mg of Sertraline from 50mg 16 months ago. Something profound has happened when my Psoriasis clears, because in 25 years it never did except for a short while with UV therapy and topical steroids. I'm freaked out by what's happening, it's amazing but I can't explain how or why this works other than shutting off the brain to produce Cortisone and Adrenaline which are the principal activators of anxiety, depression and auto immune disorders.
    Please dedicate 20 mins of everyday to meditation and see what happens, its free and you have nothing to lose except time, but it's time we'll spent.

    This happen if your meditating:
    Your brain will off slowly (meditate is good) I'm not saying you
    Will die if your brain off slowly then you can mediate 30 mins or more the meditate don't work if you just meditate 5 mins so I'm recommendin 30 mins or more
    If your asking what will happen after you meditate
    All of good thing will be *upgraded* I mean you be smart but not that much some bad things will decrease the bad things I'm saying is your high blood etc

      Meditation means to consciously become aware of the present moment thoughts, emotions, bodily sensations, sounds in your surrounding, surrounding kinesthetics like room temperature etc. When you do so your mind relaxes and starts processing pent up feelings and physiological pain or sensations too. So everybody has a different experience. If fear came up for you, or mind wandered it's all the suppressed mind activity getting processed. Just observe them as they come and go, if it's too intense you can switch between listening to a sound in the surrounding and coming back to observing uncomfortable feelings or pain.

    Meditation does NOT change the brain
    A bounty of research claims that meditation increases gray matter (preserves aging brains), increases cortical thickness (improves mood), and changes self-control areas in the brain (fights addiction).
    These studies have not been above reproach, and have been criticized for small sample sizes, inadequate controls, and a failure to be replicated. To address these issues, a well-controlled study of the neurological effects of meditation was recently performed by Kral and colleagues , who found that for short term meditators at least, no structural changes in the brain were demonstrated. The Kral study was unique because it was conducted by true believers in the efficacy of meditation, and admirable that they accepted the fact but did not remark on the implications of their study, which toppled a pillar of the meditation enterprise, that meditation itself could be considered a unique process because of its indirect effects on brain morphology. Of course, they left a final judgement on the neural effects of meditation in abeyance, as they did not consider longer time frames that could indeed demonstrate that meditation builds better brains. Ultimately such a question need not have been answered, as if we conclude that there are no process distinctions between the neuropsychology of relaxation and meditative states, the primary inference would be that relaxation does not build brains, but thinking does, irrespective of whether it is right or wrong.

      There have been numerous studies/research works published in many reputed science journals. Do google about those studies before coming to a conclusion.

      the only way for what? Grow up, man. Use your brain too. If you really believe in Jesus, still you don't need to be worrying about him. He lived his life and died. It has nothing to with you or your way. You have your life, a certain amount of energy and time. Just live that to its fullest potential and explore your own way just like Jesus did for him. Just chanting jesus is the way does not help you in any way.

    Before starting a religion called 'buddhism'. Even the siddharth(lord buddha) is a 'Hindu'.
    giving the whole credit to budhism i think is not fair.
    meditation spread in whole world by 'Hindus'.

    • @felixmiller9531
      @felixmiller9531 6 років тому +3

      Bhaskar Singh wrong, meditation like that is a buddhist thing, the hinduism practiced a hardcore meditation by hurting your body, like sit on rivers or not eating for a week, not calming your minds

    • @bhaskar03nov
      @bhaskar03nov 6 років тому +3

      Felix Miller Allow me to say some words about my 'Religion'.
      Hindusim is only the religion which has no guidelines or rule book to be a hindu.
      you can sit around the river or in comfort of your home.
      talking scientifically river has it's own oura(proved in various experiments, even some are done by christians, video is available on you tube). and when it comes to rivers, they always comes from some mountain ranges, whose water has many dissolved herbs in it which is very good for breathing and lungs, works same as vaporubs and breath easy or vapo caps(not talking about the polluted rivers in some cities).
      when i give you a big picture of my religion.
      Hindusim basically divided into two types of system to live with or live in.
      That is 'GRAHAST ASHRAM' and the 'SANYASI'(Both of these system also has no written proves, because my religion is older than the invention of 'lipi'(text).
      before it all our knowledge and cultured are pass by 'shruti' (VERBAL SPEECHES)inside which we use to remember some fact and wisdom in form of 'Mantras'.
      GRAHAST ASHRAM- under which we can live in comfort of our home, can surf internet, abuse each other in the name of religion, can do any sin except disprecting a 'women' in any kind.
      who according to hinduism is the true creator of this world reffered as word 'Jagat-janni'.
      under this sytem even if you are uttered name of God once in day you are a true god lover, you can even abuse god like that stupid god had not fulfilled my dream. God will feel happy that atleast you have taken his/her name once.
      now comes the,
      Sanyasi- under which you have to leave your family and friends, tension and worries, riches and poor,pain or relaxation, hunger or thrust, every thing so far behind that nothing can interrupt your union with that 'God' .
      But that is also has some proper system of gurus (teachers) to pass on.
      and it is still passed verbally and practicing, with no writen proves because we do believe that god is for every one literature or illiterate.
      sorry for the long answer, but 'we are not cruel'.

    • @felixmiller9531
      @felixmiller9531 6 років тому +2

      Bhaskar Singh I am a christian and i learn buddhism as well, i don't think there are rules too if you want to learn buddhism. I love the concept about buddhism. And also i read about Hinduism, is just not for me

    • @felixmiller9531
      @felixmiller9531 6 років тому +2

      Bhaskar Singh I'm sorry but ganga rivers is polluted, you can see it in a lot of article talking about it. And i'm not really understand how can a "cow" become something sacral in the name of religion

    • @felixmiller9531
      @felixmiller9531 6 років тому +4

      Bhaskar Singh what i like about buddhism is that, there's no something holding our fate even gods. We make our own destiny and we will reap what we sow. There's no something powerful that we must scared of, control our live and how we live, we live as free as we want as long we don't do anything wrong and i don't like the caste concept. We can be whatever we want no need a caste system to seperate us

      Well, there is no need for one. I am a meditation practitioner for some years now. What Robert simply means in this video is that by observing your thoughts and feelings , you may be able to not act on them. To realize its practicality, one just needs to sit for 10 mins and observe the mind.
      Of course , there are much higher claims on how meditation changes the brain structure and genetic structure but this video does not mention any . There is sufficient research backing these too.
