- In today's video, we'll go over a handful of Citizen Dive watches. Actually, many of them are dive style as they are water resistant to 100 Meters, but they have great looks and affordability on their side. At less than $150, these automatic and eco-drive watches are a great alternative to the Seiko SKX and Orient Ray/Mako series of watches.

How are the criminally underrated? Citizen is one of the biggest watch brands on the planet and usually well-known for reliable entry level watches lol
@@BrokkoliSchleuder it's called brand hype guys. just because it's not in the air of time, it's far from the heart. which is a subform of snobbism. we should all look at watches (brands) as a whole and see what brand gives the best experience/price ratio. Citizen is super high placed in that category. it's up to us to give that brand a lil push to hop in the sunlights again.

There's a video from beyond the press called How Deep Can a Dive Watch Go. They take this Citizen 100m to 200m in a pressure chamber before it stops ticking but the watch isn't broken. The reduce the pressure and it starts again. they ramp it up to 1km before the crystal breaks. You should see how deep they take a Pulsar before it breaks.
I just purchased the Citizen Dive watch in blue and have two others. I love Citizen watches they do everything I need them to do, are handsome, well built, great value and durable.
Just when I thought I have too many Citizen watches, the black automatic appears. That's a real beauty.
I love my Citizens. Have the BN0150 in blue and the NY0040 with lume dial (white with black rubber strap) absolutely wonderful watches. My Skyhawk eco drive 200m is a real survivor watch it just goes and goes, now on its 13th year. Every night checks time via radio signal. Sturdy. And cool.
My Citizen AT8124-83E is water resistant to 20 bar / 200 meters, but is not a diver's watch and does not have a screw-down crown. Thank you for featuring Citizen watches; I feel happy knowing that a respected reviewer like you has given the brand due recognition outside of the usual Omega, Tag, and Rolex watches.
I bought the automatic pro master dive watch with the stainless steel strap, absolutely outstanding peace of kit, it’s harder to get with the stainless steel strap, & I got mine new , excellent package 📦 comes in a pack with rubber strap & plastic yellow dive cylinder.... had the money to buy more expensive but just couldn’t justify it ! 30 years in the military & wanted to treat myself happy with my buy ! Stainless steel strap is excellent

The Promaster 200m as shown in the video was my first diver and still my favorite watch. It looks terrific and, as expected, easily stood up to some snorkeling in the Virgin Islands. I'm calling it a personal "best buy".
Quick question how long can lume last few hours or just 10 to 15 min i want buy citizen promaster and since u got so many you should know🤔😁
@@milanzivkovic7488 The lume is very good. You can read the time even in 8 hours of darkness, possibly longer but I haven't tested it beyond 8 hours. The hour markers and hands are saturated with lume material.

Promaster 200m is my first Citizen that I bought this year. I went thru a rough period with no job and sold my Rolex that I had since 1970. Needed the money. I bought the Citizen for for half of what I paid for the Rolex in 1970 and feel I made a great decision to have the best value for my money.

Thanks again Marc. You really can't go wrong with the BN0150. At this price there is hardly a watch which can keep up. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love my Ray 2, but the Citizen is ... I don´t know ... well, buy both and you will see what I mean.
I brought the blue dial really a nice watch I paid more than what I am seeing them for I got mine from jomashop and paid 200 dollars for it

I’ve always felt that Citizen offers great value you usually feel very satisfied with your purchase and the watch seems very substantial that’s how I feel about my old Skyhawk anyway.

I have the Citizen Promaster Eco-Drive Diver BN0150-28E and I absolutely love it.
(1) Citizen should should offer a 12-hr bezel option on the pseudo-divers, and you would have an instant poor man's GMT watch.
(2) The 200m solar diver's 12 o'clock index is visibly different from 9 and 6, which is great. Pity the pseudo divers did not follow the same convention.
(3) The 200m solar diver is fabulous, I owned it, it is super light, and the strap is the softest and nicest I have had of the synthetic straps. The problem for me is the bezel is so wide, the dial by necessity is small and much harder to read in the dark to my aging eyes because all the gloriously glowing indices appear almost on top of each other. BTW, to those who judge the readability by what you see on camera, all watches appear much bigger on the screen, so you really should test it on your wrist. If you have young eyes and no hints of astigmatism (

Watch Geek My assumption is that if they made it a true certified diver, either the cost would be a far higher, or corners would have to be cut to keep the cost down. Perhaps many would pay the extra, but it wouldn't be financially viable for Citizen to compete in that section of the market and still make an adequate profit on the watch, to please the shareholders.. Just a thought.. Excellent watches though 😀
Long Island Watch In the price range of the Seiko SKX, is the Citizen eco-drive model it's only true ISO compliant competitor?
100 meters = 329 feet. Guaranteed it will be more then fine for 99.99% of the watch enthusiasts who's buying these for collecting and who's watches only see water from washing their hands.

Great review. Particularly value the dive-style comparison with actual watches versus a true dive watch to see in detail. I use dive watches to 100m since 2000 and was shocked by the number of 'dive watches' that are more style that dive -able. FWIW people do take dive-style to scuba without issue but over time they are likely to fail while at depth without warning, but the true scuba watches last for decades. I sent my Citizen to be refurb by the factory after 15 years of continuous diving service and it worked to day I shipped it out, it just would not hold a charge long enough per it original factory spec, it was first generation Eco Drive. Its now back in service, but I am looking for a backup as I fear true diving watches are a dying breed.
I have the gold version of the automatic and I love it! It’s my workhorse! You can hear the Miyota movement spin but you get used it it.

I have 40 Citizen watches at this moment in time, I absolutely love Citizen, who needs a Rolex!!! (Overated and far too expensive)
Rolex is Rolex. I don't own one but they are so gorgeous. They are like putting money in a bank, so .....

The Citizen watches have much better QC, when it comes to alignment of bezel and action, over all Seiko watches in its range.

I own the blue version of the Eco-Drive model. Beautiful watch. It definitely wears a bit smaller. I actually thought it was 42mm until I got the caliper out and measured it. Great video as always !!

It's 42mm at the bezel, and 44mm at bottom of the case base. (bn-0150/1)
Technically its 42mm but it wears like a 38mm
The thing that makes a diver cool is that you can dive with it. Whether you do or not is irrelevant :)
I like the black watch and the Eco Drive watch about equally well. Both are excellent.
Just bought that 200m one on a cruise but in blue with blue band. Great piece.

It's very weird how many times this guy emphasized that these Citizen dive watches aren't "true" dive watches. Over and over again in this video he hammered the point home. He never does that with other brands.
The citizen dive watch eco drive that you show here is extremely well put together. If you find the one that comes on a bracelet with glide lock style clasp it out shines the 007 by far. Check it out.
I have one of these (mine is the eco-drive version) and all in all it's ok. But. I changed the strap and was amazed to find that they had missed one of the spring bars out completely. They have a steel tube/collar through which the spring bars pass and then insert as normal. The first side I changed went as expected. But the second side I couldn't find any spring bar to depress. Eventually I gave it a sharp tug and the strap parted way. There inside was the collar but without any spring bar at all. Only friction was holding the strap in place. For a certified diver this was especially perplexing as one of the criteria for getting the certification is that the spring bars must hold from a 45kg pressure. Clearly this was never tested. I wonder how many are like this and going undetected right up to the point when it catches on something and the watch falls to the ground. So please everyone give them a check for your own peace of mind.

There are still listed on the Citizen Europe website (black & blue dial) and readily available over here in stores in Germany. Funnily Seikos are harder to get and the SKX was never ever officially released in Germany.

gr33nshoes Seiko made poor quality watches. you have to wear it every day to know that. time keeping is out. poor water resistant. Seiko is rubbish to be frank with you.
Sb Sb I have multiple Citizen and Seiko watches. I mostly wear Seiko and mine are adjusted and run +/- 1s a day. The Citizens and probably better in timekeeping without adjustment as mine are all +/- 5s from the factory.

Very handsome watches. I'm looking at the Orange Monster on my wrist and I have to say I like the rounded edges of the Citizen rotating bezels much better. More refined, less chunky IMO. Nice video!

Too big for me but great looking watches. I'm glad you're carrying Citizen automatics. I feel like there is a market for them but Citizen doesn't seem to care and just pumps their Eco-drive line.

I bought one of those citizen 100 meter dive style watches, was dissapointed when I realised it did not have a screwdown crown. The description was unclear, or I was just distracted when I thought I was getting a bargain at the price I paid for it, indeed it was a bargain, a great watch, I still have it, years later....
The blue one's Orange Munute hand is a nice design tribute to the legendary BN0016 - the Blue Orca! Which followed the sad faith of NY0054 and NY0040 Diappearing from production in the early 2020s' I'd love to see them back online someday!

Have an Citizens Eco-Drive Promaster and Orient Maestro Automatic, LOL. So sad Long Island Watch doesn't have an Europe based store so you have to pay import taxes. :(
I've had two Promasters and currently have a caliber 2100 and a 2016 proximity. All great well built and very accurate time pieces. Makes it hard for me to consider another brand. I am considering a Seiko diver/sports watch now though. Just purchased a Hanowa Sea Lion. I'll be looking at your store to see what's available. Thanks very much for the great Citizen video🙏🏻👍🏻

If it isn't water resist up to at least 300m, then it isn't a dive watch, its a homage watch. I don't dive so don't care and love these watches and have no problem buying and wearing them.

The Citizen NH8380-15E in black is incredible and an attention getting piece. Put it on an OD green NATO band and you will attract attention. Shop the internet and you can find some good deals.

Lovely bold design and the 8200 Miyota movement is crazy accurate. Must be one of Citizen's best designs but lume is just mediocre. Super value for the money too. be one of Citizen's best designs. Super value for the money too.

The steel bracelet model in blue I recommend it, the bracelet is gorgeous and the way it wears is excellent, not to mention the blue dial version is not easy to find, especially with the price mark sells them for.. #getitinblue #industrylaunchpad

It's not the same exact watch just with a bracelet. The bracelet version has vertical lines and the rubber ones has dots.
I like this watch I just bought it I don’t have it yet however it should be here Tuesday or Wednesday of next week I hope it’s a good watch I’m a fat old man I don’t do any diving at all so not having a screw down crown won’t really affect me this is the type of watch I’ll ware to dinner or Walmart or something like that

I've actually been thinking about getting the Squale 1521 026-A. I LOVE the orange minute hand on the Squale looks incredible too. It will be added to my collection at some point for sure. I think any watch over 42mm looks ridiculous on most people’s wrist - just my opinion. And I’ve noticed the over sized watches are going away ..... thank God.
I recently purchased the Citizen Bn0151-09l with the blue face and matching blue rubber straps, but I wasn't entirely thrilled with the straps. So I gambled on a OEM citizen stainless steel bracelet ( citizen p# AD6060 ) with the 20mm lugs. Could you talk about this mod, and verify compatibility , installation, and your opinions ? Thank you!

Hi Mark, thanks for your great info. I've seen many of your videos and I love em. My only gripe is the plain beige background with the partial blind in it. I kind of cringe every time. Can I suggest you shoot with wall only behind you and maybe some watch related posters or decor to liven things up. I'm an engineer in my thinking, and I know we sometimes overlook design, but freshen and brighten the decor i think you'll be surprised at the positive effects... now for my QUESTION : I have the Marine Sport Watch NH8385-11E, and its very noisy when i rotate it in my fingers to get the rotor going, i can hear almost like a rubbing sound. Also when i rotate it quickly the second hand stops briefly. Not sure if something wrong. It seems to be keeping time. thx
I really like Orient and think they have the overall edge but citizen does make a great watch and the bracelets are way ahead of what Orient does. That's the problem with Orient. even models like the triton , which is an excellent watch, have crap bracelets regardless of the fact that they have solid end links. Citizen is offering a way better bracelet on $200 watches. Fortunately for Orient owners, Mark offers the strapcode bracelets which are better than Orient.

My Citizen Nighthawk is rated to 200 meters WR. The Citizen "divers" should have been manufactured to 200 meters WR as well.
There's a difference between 200M and 200M Divers.

Why have Citizen made bunch of 46mm automatic sport watches and then one and only ISO diver 44mm and put Eco-drive in it? I have one, but i would like it is automatic.

Halo- I have bought this citizen nh-8389 88 12 Last week the blue color which stops ticking if you hit it suddenly or moved my hand suddenly , but it never loses time. I just want know it is normal with the mechanical watch or only that model . kindly advise is it normal or shall I returned back

Hi, wondering about the bn-0191 that you added recently.. trying to get exact size i have the above nh 8389, which is just ok for me i find still a tad small = my caliper says 43.75mm bezel diam, 46mm case diam (because 1mm ledge under bezel).
***Would you be able to check caliper measurement of outer diam of bezel on the 191? *** on some side by side pictures it looks almost exactly same size as 151 which i find smallish
