One of my favorite Tower Of Power songs ever
I saw these guys in the Pit in Albuquerque BACK in 1977. I knew them from my dad. man did we move to their groove.
Francis Rocco Prestia is A LIVING LEGEND !!!!!!
Larry Braggs is the Tower's best lead singer of all time. 5 Stars!
this is just the greatesst song in the world man!!!!
I love these guys! They haven't been to ATL in forever!
I will be seeing guys for the 20th time at the Keswick at the end of the month I just never tired to this funky band!!!!!!!
I've seen the band live several times, just awesome, thank you people
The ultimate funk band 😎🎷

Just got my TOP fix here in Seattle at Jazz Alley last Friday. Amazing as always! Roger Smith Rocks!!!
Yesssssssssssss......The Oakland sound...this is where I cut my rug back in Da Daze!
Its 1:27 in the morning, heard this song on the radio. Couldn't sleep till I found it so I can listen it once more before I go to bed. Thank you!
My two favorite TOP songs ever Soul with a capital S and What is hip
Kicks. Outstanding TOP I like it the best!
I'm also going to see them in London at O2 center!!!!!!!!! Can't wait
Awesome group with a powerful sound.
We saw them recently @ House of Blues AC NJ (in the Showboat casino) They are tremendous!
@Spatiebalken when i hear that soulfull song!!!!! wit dat capital s!!! hits me everytime brotha
David Garibaldi is a machine!!! Great David!
This band knows how to play the holes and that is the soup that makes the funk. love this stuff
best homework assignment ever, listen to Tower of Power, thank you Mr.Brewer!!
nothing compares to Garibaldi's groove,he's the best.
groovy baby yeahhh!!!!!!!
MAN they´re awesome! They even make a non-dancer like me move!
T.O.P just funked up a ton of Koreans in Seoul yesterday; I was there and couldn't believe the crowd was singing their tunes. What a performance. After the concert ALL musicians signed autographs in a lobby filled wall to wall with local fans. That's what makes these professionals liked so much by all...they are so down to earth. God Bless T.O.P
RIP Rocco, Bruce Conte
THAT WAS DANGEROUS!!!!
sweet soul music that's the best...
funky, funkyyyyy :D
viva tower of poWer
show de bola o cara do baixo..... insano
Yup 😎
goosebumps from the percussion
seeing them in london cant wait fav song
David Garibaldi...
One of the best drummer in the world!!!
yeaahh! super!
Great
Garibaldi...dang! what a killer drummer! Just drives the band .
That"s the A team.....Garibaldi and Prestia !!!!!!!
I have met the singer and the Pianist, Wonderful
Man thats some mean ghosting by the drummer!! Awesome!
Yeaaahhhhhhh!!!!!
IT HAS TO BE DAVID & ROCCO, THANK YOU T.O.P. BEAR
top saw them in 76. the tightest band ever
I saw them live in Paris last year, I wasn't even a fan of the band, but this song rules, and David Garibaldi was totally crazy, I'm a drummer and I was blown by his playing in some parts, he's a god
Good music for the weekend Folks ...
sa bouge
his snare just sounds this way, it has been like this for the last 10 years
Go Rocco!!!!!
@KMACISTHEKANG I purchased David's signature snare drum a few months ago and with a little work and a lot of trepidation (that story is whole other subject involving a very apathetic manufacturer and the nightmares that can involve), I have that funky pop with fatness and tone that you hear on this video. It has become my very favorite of snare drums and I don't see myself replacing it anytime in the future.
rocco prestia has these groovy fingers - wow
I play alto and barri and TOP is such a inspiration!
Best T.O.P. lead singer of them...Larry Brigg!
The Drummer is a MONSTER!!!
Francis Rocco Prestiaaaa !!!
It's almost unfair when a band has so many musicians who are better at playing than literally 99% of what's out there.
This is the best LIVE band. I saw hundreds of concerts and TOP rips the curtains and turbulizes the air........
Sweet Dolores Perez Pietro...that's the best...she has got soul....with the Capital S
I was there.
I could have SWORN the vocals weren't THAT "out" listening to it live! OUCH! But aaah...that rhythm section is STILL SLAMMIN!
Doc is got to be the coolest barry player ever,
Holy shit! He´s playing the gostnotes so unbeleavable clean! I can´t understand how he can´t mess up in the whole song o.O
Rocco invented his own style that is why it is so clean!!!!!!!!!!
Listen to the music, stop complaining. We all know the tempo here isn't amazing, but the feeling is, and that is the most important
This vocalist is FUCKINGAWESOME !
amazing bass playing to keep the pocket at that tempo!
that rhythm section is just so fuckin tight man
They don't rock... They FUNK!!! :)
Too Good Funk-Y!!! Man, this guys do with instruments what Jamiroquai do with technologie!!! this band is a killer for years....
I can't believe the nit-pcking and whining! If this doesn't move ya, you're dead! Thanks, Roger Smith, for awesome B-3 work!!!
david garibaldi is an insane drummer - without the support of rocco would not be the same though. these guys work together so amazingly! the dream riddim section
Classic what's up fellas.
RIP Rocco
those gohstnotes are awesome...
@doogal1234
love linear drumming, wish he shared his knowledge in the 70s, when I was trying to figure him out...lol
Right. At 3:39 there is a timekeeping problem and that is very easy to hear.
But guys; Garibaldi has been so important to TOP, so calm down.
He has been such an inspiration to me and thousands of other drummers during
the last four decades. All drummers can have a day off..At least we can all make mistakes.
I like the way he pronounces the letter " T "
@Pfiffer27
His left hand goes unnoticed, but it drives the whole song.
haha i love it when ppl get so mad. just for the record i am a grade 8 drummer and have worked in studios all of my professional life so i know a thing or two about gating. this drum sound is fine. if you did your research on garbaldi ud know that his ghost notes and comping are that good
Don't know about the loud snare, but sure about the paradiddles there seem to be. They're Garibaldi's incredible ghost notes. He usually plays them, in a 4/4 bar, on the last two sixteenth notes of the first and third quarter, and on the 2nd and 3rd sixteenths of the second and fourth quarter.
Cheers!
Heute Abend Nov.14, 2014 in der Fabrik Hamburg. Ich bin dabei. Hipper Than Hip Tour
I met these guys. Doc is the coolest, but david g. gave me his bckstage pass. He is a funk god and a super cool guy. Love me some tower
agree. those ghost notes carry it.
@Pfiffer27 MR david garibaldi Rocks !!!
@Pfiffer27 the drummer is david garibaldi
@PoppinHam
I keep lookin' over my shoulder to make sure the boss isn't coming down the hallway.
got the headphones happenin' but the cloaking device is in the shop :D
カッケー!
too true!!! If you play live in an environment of pure groove, when you drive the train and it's moving, it'll start getting a little fast. T.O.P. live is always faster then the lp or dvd ! I would give any thing to have Garibaldi as my drummer...........
I've heard this song and version alot, I mean, really ALOT! And I've never noticed that the drummer speeded up. I play both the drums and the bass in 3 different bands, and I've been practicing with metronome my whole life. If the tempo is changing so bad, that it affects the song, it's no good, but this man is tight as shit! Even though he speeds a little, it's still tight, groovie and freakin' awesome playing. It's a fast song, it's hard to play, and the dynamics are pushing: Ofc he is speedin
holy shit! this is FUCKIN' FUNK!! (with a double capital F) :-D
@alexidrummer Even if they did speed up, Dave is probably one of the best drummers in history. I just saw Tower of Power yesterday at Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival, and there was more energy in that show than even the most insane and intense metal shows I've been to.
@jobbyb Statistic are for critistics. This one of the grooviest drums ever playd and that´s a fact !
3:25 is the best part.
S! ;)
@WarriorMigs24 I think I like Diggin' on James Brown more than What is hip... But this one is also rlly cool ^^
Easy Reader!
@grajdrums Actually it does speed up. But let's not spend more time on that detail. David is fantastic and as i wrote earlier, we can all have a day off.
@malko42 Well yes, there is a slight mistake, but among non-proffesional drummers it wouldn't even be considered one, and besides, it doesn't speed up/slow down/ruin the thing a slightest bit.
