To eradicate biofilms in the body, be aware of: 1) xylitol (the bacteria in biofilms try to use it as a food source, and starve; 2) lactoferrin (absorbs iron the bacteria in biofilm need to live), and 3) serrapeptase (an enzyme).

+Nils Osmar i have used these above. i take the enzymes and 30 min later anti-microbials. don't we need to also kill what is being released when the biofilms dissolve with the enzymes?

+Nils Osmar Are you saying that xylitol can kill bacteria? I've been using it for my teeth. But I still get many throat infections.

Great video. I have a biofilm infection on dermal filler. It's a nightmare. A chronic abscess on my face. I will show this video to my surgeon to see if this helps with the treatment options.

Cheryl, there are a few companies that specialize in exactly what you are asking for, e.g.,example PathoGenius. Have your doc call them to inquire about the ENT panel, they will send the kit. Also seem my biofilmcommunity site below, you can find the video interviews I did with doctors Wolcott and Dowd about biofilm diagnostics. If your doctor won't support testing from this century, find another doctor! BTW: steroids suppress inflammation -- and the immune system. They may cause damage too.

Yes there is a cellular differentiation among these colonies, and some serve the colony in 'way A' and others in 'Way B'. To me, I would call this a separate organism to an extent. However, the general scientific community does not, and I have not seen the proper justification. They assume that bacteria cells are simply individual living organisms (rather than building blocks).

Most interesting info, I was just reading about a product called Biocidin LF which is supposed to have excellent results in killing biofilm bacteria, I need to do a bit of research on this product. thanks for the upload

its crazy how the human body works and how Bacteria works

Next question: Is there cellular differentiation among these "colonies," and do some serve the colony in "Way A," while others serve it in "Way B"? That would take on the *characteristics of* being a separate unit-organism.
Presumably, biofilms have been around for millennia--in animals and people. So, if they were going to evolve cellular differentiation and serve each other their different "deliverables," they would have done so long ago.

my daughter is 6 and has been intubated 5 times and now has a tracheostomy and has active pseudomonas and is being treated with tobramycin nebulized treatments twice daily. My question is 2 part, is pseudomonas in a trached and ventilated child a biofilm? and how would they test for that besides a routine sputum sample?

quorum sensing enables a collective response from organisms to a lethal environment, triggering generation of a protection hundreds to thousands of times more resistant to the lethal environment than would be otherwise possible

They've been around much longer than us. It's just biofilms are so complex for such small objects that we haven't had the technology to efficiently examine them until recently.
