Man! What a great lesson. Your breakdown and explanation of chord construction is a great help. The quick demo at the end ties things up nicely. Just bloody great man. Thanks
Dave, excellent lesson !! Somehow I missed this song years ago, even though I been Led Zeppelin in concert in New Orleans. Dave you’re right it’s a great song, and you did a great job at teaching it !!
Excellent lesson with in between nuances that are so very much appreciated. Your teaching approach is awesome as hell mister, so easy to grasp. Thank you!
Thanks. I like this one. A lost gem. Works great also in dropped D. Even if you are not Robert Plant the singing helps with timing. Worked with a guy who did a R. Plant impersonation that had me dying of laughter. Thank You. (pun intended).
Thank you - for the great lesson! This will be my second song to try on my new 12 string - as well as on my 6 (Larrivee OM-40!) DO you have this tabbed out somewhere for us slow learners?
Thank you Thank You! You explain everything so clear! I'm certainly gonna be working on this a lot!! It would be great if you could do a lesson on Ruby Tuesday by the Rolling Stones! Thank you again!!
thanks for explaining how the sun chords work too, I Neve knew that. So if the fith note in the scale is suspended, it makes Sus2 or Sus 4 etc, what is it if the third note of the scale is suspended? also have you seen it played with the E using a C shape on the 4th Thank You
Not quite, but it's more challenging than songs where you just hold a chord and play a strum pattern. It''s a good introduction to how melody gets added to strumming parts IMO.
That's a Larrivee OM-9, it's a wonderful guitar...slightly smaller body than a standard dreadnought acoustic. On the recording, Jimmy Page is playing a Vox 12-string.
Keep it simple and repetitive, maybe something like dum - down-up - dum - down-up (quarter note then two eighths) through the first Bm - E - Bm and then there's just the single hit on E - A at "nothing more".
The theory lesson is great but I'm here for a lesson on "Thank You" the song. This video could have been shorter without the theory information that isn't really necessary. You could have taught the entire song in the amount of time it took to explain the reasons why chords are named as they are.
Thank-you Dave:)................ There is still much to be thankful for, even in this corona virus hysteria. I will learn this in my downtime and remain thankful. God Bless.
You are always the right teacher in classic rock and roll! Many years passed? But you still the best teacher.
Man! What a great lesson. Your breakdown and explanation of chord construction is a great help. The quick demo at the end ties things up nicely. Just bloody great man. Thanks
Dave, you are simply the best guitar teacher I have encountered. I'm 60! Thanks, so cool!
36 years playing...never heard a more clear explanation. Great lesson. Would love to see your interpretation of the acoustic solo.
Mr: respect for your patients & lesson we salute from Los Angeles California thank you very much. Excellent experience
I learned more in the first 3 minutes of this video than I have in the last 30 years! Dude!
Awesome job, THANK YOU! I for one really appreciate the technical theory explanations.

The 3rd of the scale/chord is the one that's changed to create sus chords: up from note 3 to note 4 for a sus4, down for a sus2.
Thanks a mil.
Happy to share.
like your instruction, just wish you posted a chord chart or verses
Got it, thanks. Is this an intermediate level song?
Not quite, but it's more challenging than songs where you just hold a chord and play a strum pattern. It''s a good introduction to how melody gets added to strumming parts IMO.
May I ask what brand acoustic guitar you use for Zep’s “Thank You?”
That's a Larrivee OM-9, it's a wonderful guitar...slightly smaller body than a standard dreadnought acoustic. On the recording, Jimmy Page is playing a Vox 12-string.
hey what kind of string do you use please ?
On this guitar, D'Addario EXP16s.
What is your tuning on your guitar because when I go up to the G chord that you are doing, it sounds different than yours
Standard tuning. The G chord in the primary pattern is a G/B, X2003X, with a moving line 3 - 2 - 0 - 2 on the high E string.
I think he's a 1/2 step up
Theres another old song that uses that D chord. Lucky Man
My head is smoking
What kind of guitar is it?
Larrivee OM-9, and a real workhorse.
Ok
I am having trouble with the strumming pattern after the intro by the first Bm, if anyone could help.
Keep it simple and repetitive, maybe something like dum - down-up - dum - down-up (quarter note then two eighths) through the first Bm - E - Bm and then there's just the single hit on E - A at "nothing more".
@@NashvilleGuitarGuru thank you. Love the lesson and the song. I enjoy the theory that you give with the lesson.
While the detailed chord construction is appreciated by most, it does take away from the flow of the lesson
D down
Dsus4 down
D up
Dsus2 down
Dsus2 up

help, anybody?
Your voice is very low sir
