Hey guys, thanks for taking the time to view our 2nd video on the channel. Stay tuned, because next Friday, we'll be posting our video showing what we got paid this pay period (pre and post tax).
I graduate with my BSN in 7months.. I was thinking Florida but these hurricanes this year told me just take long vacations.. I love Seattle area but I find no love from the ppl… when visiting Oakland I felt the love seeing beautiful people
Sounds like you're on track already 😀. Just be mindful of the area you choose to move to, the closer you get to San Francisco, the higher the cost of living you will have, which will only negate the higher wages.
In your video, seems like you recommend to look for a place first before starting a new job. Do you think its wise to start a new job first then stay at a monthly airbnb before officially signing a lease to an apartment?
Will you please do a video on the neighborhoods in sacramento. I don't need anything too posh... I was born and bred in the hood, have no wife or kids..... the cheaper the better until I can get out there and do my own scouting. Also, room renting a big thing here in Washington Heights, Manhattan. Is this a thing in Sacramento? Are there offices/agencies that specialize in room renting there? You have quickly become one of the most substancial UA-cam nurses out there. Thank you
I have a video on our top 10 favorite places in the Sacramento area. You can start with that as a guide (here's the video: ua-cam.com/video/TmUAdcqFHMo/v-deo.html). You can also find places where you can just rent a room, if that's what you want to do, but one of the only ways to find a room is through sites like Craigslist.
I am writing on behalf of my spouse, who is a Turkish nurse. Are these steps applicable for a foreign nurse as well? If not, what path should we follow? Because we do not have any American visa and finding a job and getting a sponsor for my spouse might be a more challenging process.
Hello I'm a 2 year student of nursing from india but I don't know what's the process from beginning to end so please guide me to reach my goal it that English test is required for California because in Texas not so I'm confused and what's the documentation process. Please help 🙏🏻
hehe this is cool but i normally jsut sell everything when i move to different states its cheaper and less hassle as buying new furniture isnt expensive lol especially from amazon. I have moved to atleast 4 states so far and this method is expensive that you mentioned lol. You could save $1000's if you just sell everything and just drive to your new state in your car with jjust clothes and tv if anything. Well i am a simple guy so its easy for me to sell everything and then buy them over as it doesnt cost much. Like if you do the math and see that everything in your apartment is $1000-$2000 of value, then getting a moving company for $2000 and then a car mover for another couple 1000 isnt worth it. Plus you can be scammed by fake moving companies these days (i almost did) thats why everytime from now on i just sell everything and just move in my personal car with my partner. Because i can easily go on amazon and buy a bed, couch etc and have it delivered same day or the next day and i have a blow up mattress to sleep on in the new place. So for me its quite convenient to move this way. IT might not work for you and you might value your personal items, but as for me, personal items can always be replaced with new ones. I moved from wisconsin last year 2023 to utah (22 hour drive) only cost me $530 for only gas. I saved $1000's in cash by not getting a moving company etc. So its awesome to do it this way.
Thinking of moving to the Sacramento area as well but I’ve been getting a lot of negative reviews due to the homeless population there. Can you refer some good and bad, city and suburban cities in the Sacramento area? TIA ❤
The Midwestern states are the easiest states to get jobs in as a new grad, but the average new grad takes under 6 months to get a job in California, after graduating. I tell this to everyone who asks me the question you're asking me: just get your license in both states and apply for work in both states. If you get an offer in your home state first, then take it. Continue to apply for a job in California while your work in your home state. Then, move to California after you get a job offer. However, if you first get an offer to work in California, then you're in luck, and you can move to California immediately after passing your boards.
Just watched this video and it’s so helpful! I have a question for you! I’m in AZ and about to graduate in December while taking my boards in January. I want to move to CA after I graduate. They usually tell us to apply for a job and lock it in at the beginning of 4th semester so it’s ready pending the NCLEX. I’m about to apply this month. Should I also apply for CA ? Or should I get a job here first and then apply for CA while I’m waiting and still earn money.
Hi, unfortunately most hospitals in California require that you have a nursing license before they will even consider you as a candidate for a position. But, if you can find a job that will allow you to submit an application without a nursing license, then go ahead and apply.
I Have an upcoming travel contract to Panorama City the Agency has not revealed the name of the hospital yet. what is the cost of housing like in that area?
Absolutely! You can just take the nclex in your current state, then apply for your California license to work in California. That's what I would have done if I could do it all over again.
I think you should come and visit Sacramento first. UC Davis is a great hospital and many nurses who get employed by them, end up staying there for good. But, I'm a NYer at heart and always miss some things about living in NY. So, because Boston is similar to NY, I recommend you come visit Sacramento first and get a feel for what your life might look like once you move here.
Do you think a new graduate nurse should attempt to find their first job in California or first get experience in another state before relocating to California? Thanks
The difficulty of finding a job as a new grad is going to be very similar, no matter what state you're in. If you want to move to California and work here as a new grad then go ahead and do it. It takes an average of 6 months to one year for new grads to get their first job, so just keep that in mind if you aren't hearing back from employers right away.
In order to get your California license you would first have to get a job offer from an employer within the state, after passing the NCLEX in Canada. Once you receive a job offer, you would be hired with a Travel Nurse Visa. Once you receive your TN visa you come to the US and apply for a social security number so you could apply for licensure by endorsement in California. It's a complicated process but California is one of the strictest states when it comes to licensure for any profession.
@@RedFaceeee first, you have to get your California RN license. Then, I would just say apply every single day for any openings available in any hospital that has positions available. Once you have your first job here it'll be easier getting a job at your number one choice of hospital.
Can I ask if your spouse started in home health and was able to successfully transition to the hospital later in her career? You mentioned she started in home health and being a fellow mom I'm considering the same path but not sure if I'm shooting myself in the foot not having hospital experience the first year as a new grad nurse. Thank you
You should start in whichever area of nursing you are interested in working in. My wife worked home health for less than 6 months before she got a job in a hospital setting.
@@NursesToRiches We are moving to CA (military) and I've heard to start in SNF first and keep applying to the hospital. I'm considering working in AZ first and staying with family. I would have a chance to work ED for a year and transfer over to CA to join my husband. Decisions, decisions lol

Coming down in May because of you. Can’t wait to start in Cali 😊

I really hope so! We need more of our NYP crew over here, lol.

It's super hard for overseas(Australian) applicants even under the country agreement, I may need your help:)

That would be a great idea. It would give you time to explore the neighborhoods before you decide to settle on a location.
Really enjoying your videos, and by the way. . . PODS is a good moving company.

just sell your stuff and drive in your car, stop holding onto old items lol

I'm doing it myself. Renting a room in a house for a great price, less than a mile for wrk. Took this leap 6 weeks ago. You can do it!

Hi I just want to ask where is the good school district in Roseville Ca for high school, I’m planning to move there this summer
Woodcreek High School is great. Also, the closer you are to Rocklin, the better the schools.
Please, is it possible to relocate to califonia from Nigeria 🇳🇬? If yes, what and how am I suppose to begin. Thank you
Which is the safest part of Sacramento? I want to live and work in Sacramento
