    In this video, I'm gonna compare the LPN vs RN vs NP vs CRNA and their Lifetime Earnings in 2021. This is The ULTIMATE Comparison of who really makes more money and which one is the best fit for you.
    I have previously compared lifetime earnings of the RN vs MD and since many of you asked for a comparison of the RN, NP, and CRNA, I figured I would up my game and include the LPN as well.
    After watching this video, you will get an idea of how many years of experience each profession requires, what certifications and degrees you will need to practice, the roles and responsibilities of the profession, work settings, median US salaries, CA salaries, Lifetime Earnings for all of the professions, and the adjusted hourly rate for all of them after we calculate their lifetime earnings and divide it by the number of hours and training worked in their lifetime.
    So, if you found this video entertaining or educational, I would appreciate it if gave it a thumbs up because it really does take me a long time to create these videos.

    The upside to studying and getting higher degrees is more for body preservation and respect than income, basically. If you want to enjoy that money in retirement, study early in life.

    Since this is California focused as a CRNA your going to realistically see a salary in the range to $300-400k. Anesthesia is booming right now and there is a massive shortage of providers. I know you can only base your research on BLS data but unfortunately it doesn’t tell anywhere near the full picture. Also getting into school is much more difficult than it has been in the past. Your not walking into a program with only a year of icu under your belt. 3-4 years is going to be more realistic. For those interested it would serve you well to focus on taking in depth pharmacology, physics/chem courses while ensuring you have a good understanding of cell biology since your job will be best described as an applied pharmacologist and applied physiologist. Those two things are really what anesthesia is about and what you will need to master to be effective.

    Great videos. Love the numbers. Just for those making life decisions based on this (especially the difference in investments), please note the difference between how much contributions is being made between the LPN vs everyone else.
    Yes, we can't sleep on the benefits of compound interest especially starting at such an early age - but also ask yourself what age you're actually starting at? What responsibilities you have at that age? And whether those responsibilities allow you the luxury of investing 30% of your paycheck in a 401k BEFORE you then go ahead and pay taxes.

      Hey, Sharon! You are so right, this video goes to show that any profession you choose, should be one you choose for the love of the profession and not solely for monetary benefits because even as an LPN you will be able to earn more than a CRNA or even an MD over your lifetime if you are conscious about the financial decisions you make.

    Great video, I feel like this video is an eye opener! In alot of RNs minds now its either go CRNA or you're a failure and to be real its only for the money (which i feel is wrong). As an RN alone our earning potentials are insane without the need for more schooling. This might depend on the state you live in but I know for sure they're are travel nurses out earning non travel CRNAs. Its all about choosing a passion that you can do long term work hard for a 10 year span and using the hard earned money to invest in your future. I hate seeing people strive for CRNA cause to them its the only way to make more money. I always said to my coworkers is CRNA was the only way out then that would make nursing a very sad career lol

    Just something to consider. I’m a 6 year Army Veteran. The Armed Services has a Military Medical Program. It’s difficult to qualify for, more so than most civilian programs, but it’s worth it! You get paid to train and the training is free. You can enter through the Advanced Medic program that, depending upon your level of completion and years of service, can qualify you you as an NP. Coming in with training as an LPN or RN you are commissioned as an officer. You qualify for further training, as noted above. Besides this, your levels of responsibility in the military are greater and free of the usual cost cutting restrictions in the civilian area. You also get a medical personnel monthly bonus added to your regular pay. If you are single, on post housing is free, but you can also get an allowance for housing if you choose to live off post. If you come in with any school loans they are forgiven over the period of your initial enlistment. This could be 4-6 years. All certifications transfer to the civilian world, as well. Even if you merely serve your required 4-6 year enlistment, you walk away trained, debt free, money in the bank, and with the new GI Bill to use towards any continued education or to hand off to your children in the future. As a Veteran, you also go to the front of the line for civilian positions. It’s a great start to life especially since you’re going to put in the same amount of time paying for life and education anyway.
    I was a single NCO, Military Police Officer. I lived conservatively and on post. Food, housing, uniforms.. were entirely paid for. After 6 years I came out with money in the bank and was able to pay cash for my first home. I was also hired directly into an insurance investigation position. It would have been infinitely better had I been in any medical or nursing position. This is something to consider when looking at training, expenses and long term benefits and income.

      The farthest I've gone is BSN and don't plan to go any further because we make more money as staff nurses up here in Northern California than the advanced practice nurses do.

    Good video, but everyone is not realizing that the numbers are kinda skewed, here’s why. You can only invest a set amount of money into your 401k no matter your income. Sure the CRNA’a 401k might be slightly smaller due to LESS TIME and LESS contributions. No one is thinking that the CRNA makes so much money they will be able to invest much much more into their personal brokerage compared to the others due to higher income. The CRNA will have wayyy more money in the long run considering 401k + personal investments.

    Random question about the hiring process. Do you think you have a better chance to land a position because of your gender? Do hospitals want a more diverse community of Male and females? Lastly, do you know it being. A veteran typically helps or not? Thanks!

    • @NursesToRiches
      @NursesToRiches  2 роки тому +4

      When I was on a telemetry floor 7 years ago I was one of 4 other males, amongst a torrent of female nurses. Since then, it has steadily shifted to almost half males, half females. Employers really shouldn't be hiring one an employee over the other simply because their gender is the only thing that differentiates them from one another. If they are ever found doing that they could be sued or fined for discrimination. Being a veteran, on the other hand, is another thing. Businesses are always looking to hire veterans and that is definitely onr thing they are allowed to consider in a candidate during the hiring process.

    So I have a question. What is a ADN? Cause I did a bachelors of nursing (BN) from UNB. It was a 4 year degree. In Canada I work the exact same position as my friends who did a BSN. The school curriculum is the same also. In Canada there isn’t a difference between the two. When I move to the US will they give be issues regarding my degree being a BN?

    • @NursesToRiches
      @NursesToRiches  2 роки тому

      In the US, an ADN and ASN are the same thing but just have different acronyms. ADN stands for associate degree in nursing. ASN stands for Associate of Science in Nursing. The ADN/ASN is a 2-year degree and a step before the BSN (or what you call the UBN in Canada). But, where the ADN/ASN differs from the LPN, is that ADN/ASN nurses can do everything a BSN nurse can do and work anywhere BSN nurse can work. However, the reason why the BSN is better is because a BSN nurse is more likely to be chosen for a position vs the ADN/ASN nurse. Hospitals in some states are not even hiring ADN/ASN nurses anymore unless they are enrolled in a BSN program at the time of their application.
      So, when you move to the US, you will not have issues at all with having your BN.

      @@sunshinesunflowerz1647 Yeah, they claim it's about hiring the most educated staff but I've worked with both ADN and BSN-educated nurses and in the workplace there is no difference in how they take care of their patients. However, personal experience does not translate to evidence-based practice. A previous study found that a 10 percent increase in the proportion of BSN-educated nurses on hospital units was associated with a 10.9% possible decrease in patient mortality.
      Also, the Bachelor’s degree is focused on leadership, nursing research, management as well as clinical skills training. This means that a BSN-educated nurse is able to move on to leadership positions within an organization, or conduct nursing research with a higher level of credibility and knowledge.

    That's just one investment vehicle. CRNAs makes so much more than LPN and RNs that they can invest the difference and will blow past the others in a short amount of time.

    • @NursesToRiches
      @NursesToRiches  2 роки тому +1

      You may have a point but on the other hand, the RN here, in Sacramento specifically, can easily earn over 200k-300k/yr with very little overtime and start putting that money into other vehicles of investments as well. So there are many factors that can be added to the equation. But I tried to make the scenarios as equal as possible which is why I only focused on the 401k.

    Those numbers are off by a lot!!! In Arizona LPN make about 25-30hr RN make between 35-55hr NP 55-100hr CRNA make about 150-200hr. CRNA are probably making 5-8X more than an LPN 3X more than a RN and 2X NP so those numbers are not up to date or are just made up numbers 😅. I am an RN with 3.5Years experience making 100k a year and I believe that I can make about 120k with some overtime. My friend is NP that makes 200k with picking up a few extra shifts a month. LPN will never even get closer to NP or CRNA makes and let’s not talk abou 401k especially with inflation LPN are not able to put any money into their retirements. Please use better resources. I love you channel, but this is confusing people who wants to make the decision between RN and LPN. Always choose higher education. I am on my last 8months of my Np program and I already have an offer for 140k a year. 😊
