Yay, you’re back! I’ve been sewing for almost 50 years, but I still enjoy watching your video tutorials. I like how you present the steps for beginners. 🙂
I love this, Tock. It's simple - but so many people aren't taught the simple steps and are thrown into the process with the assumption they do. Not everyone knows to cut the bulk out! It's like telling someone to clean the bathroom but no one showed them how - then berating them for it. Love this!
So happy to see you back. Beginner tutorials are what many of us need. You always make sewing seem so easy but the best part is, you make it easy to understand. Cheers from Australia.
Soooooo good to be back making videos, thanks so much for watching. Happy to get back to some more beginner style videos again. Hope you're doing excellent!
@@TockCustom I know you have a lot of things planned but interpreting the sewing patterns for a long sleeve shirt is like Egyptian hieroglyphics to me. I really hope we can see your process making those
Thank you for the warm welcome back! Very excited to do some more beginner videos, planning lots of new stuff. Hope you're enjoying all of your projects!
Pillows are awesome beginner projects! It’s fun to choose all kinds of different fabrics and prints to experiment with. I’m glad to know that I’ve been closing my pillows correctly this whole time. I’ve never been sure about it.
@@TockCustom they are helpful! The idea of using the pillow form looks much better than stuffing. All of your videos have upped my sewing game immensely!
Heck Yeah!! been something I have been wanting to do. My dog needs a pillow for her crate!! It be cool if you started a beginner series. Something that can be completed in a weekend. Thanks again for creating these videos! The Tock is back!!!
Yeah, just look for a really long, flat pillow form and you're good to go. I kind of have a beginner's series already in one of my playlists. Definitely something you could get through in a couple hours. Hope some of these help!
OMG TOCK!! YOUR BACK!! I was getting nervous and was trying to figure out a way to download all your videos because every time I make a shirt I have to go back and rewatch all your tips. Sooooo happy you are back and making videos again as you by far make the best tutorials that I actually can understand and follow and make stuff with my sewing machine!!
I just found your channel recently and was bummed to see you had stopped (fully supported it - this stuff is so much work - just, also bummed!) and went to your other pages to make sure you were okay. I resigned myself to just your old videos - but lo and behold, you have returned!! I hope the time away was great, and that coming back is also great. Thanks for all your hard work.
Dude where have you been with this knowledge I struggle to close my pillows thank you so doing this for now own (looked up your video to show my son 13yr how to make his own pillows and I learned something too) bonus 🎉😊
So happy you are making videos again. It was great to see you on Sew Fest with Sewing Machines Plus. You are very nice and fun to watch. Thank you for all the great videos.
thank you I made my first pillow last night with my sewing machine and I did sew it back and forth in the beginning .... thanks for showing me that trick
Thanks, Tock, nice to see your back. The presentation of your videos are top stitch I mean notch. All the steps are covered in clear concise methods With a very clean organized workspace. Keep going Tock, I have learned a lot from you and it's appreciated. Big THANK YOU
Great beginner project! Yours came out pretty “stuffed”, but if you’re recycling another old pillow as a form, you may want to cut your fabric an inch or two smaller than the pillow so it will fill the pillow out better.
Hey Tock, I'm new to sewing. Would love to see something on sewing using elastic such as waistband or for leg closure for sweats or something. Keep up the good work!
So glad to see you back! I really love your videos and appreciate you sharing the knowledge! One of these days, I’m going to go out and get my first sewing machine!
I will always encourage people to try something new that could be fun and rewarding. Hope you take the dive into sewing or any other creative passion soon :)
Thank you! I'm learning how to sew and this is a great tutorial! Do you have one on how to make an envelope pillow? I will look through your videos. Thanks😊
Thank you for your explanations which I found clear. I enjoyed your vidéo on shirt making. Could you make a video on how to sew a polo shirt, plz? Thank you
I'm so excited to see you're back! I've been watching to see if you'd return. I wanted to see if you were going to continue with videos on the Brother 10-needle. I have the Baby Lock Venture which is essentially the same machine. I hope you do more stuff on that machine!
I will be doing a lot of new videos with the 10 needle, but I'm having fun getting back into new content with some simple videos at first. There will be LOTS of new stuff coming all year long :)
Tock, I just got a sewing machine recently just for hemming the pants of my gi pants for jiu-jitsu (I'm big but short so they are all too long and I got tired of paying for tailors to do it). Your channel was really helpful as a full beginner to sewing. And now I'm going to be doing more sewing since I have found even doing hems enjoyable. This pillow will probably be my first actual project. What are some other good projects for someone new to sewing? Things that area a little more challenging and help you develop and improve other key sewing skills? Thank you for your content.
Worked perfectly for me!! I just sewed a 20 inch pillow and it looks professional! I also used a fuzzy blanket like fabric and I had no problems! I gave myself quite a few inches seam allowance, as I like to have a lot of room to work with and it came out lovely! I plan on sewing many pillow cases, same pattern for all different size pillows!
7:45 If anyone has difficulty with this step, I bet you could stuff the pillow into a plastic cylinder and then push through the cylinder to insert it into the case.
Thanks so much for this! I remember making a pillow with my step mom when I was a kid once but she did the finished closing seam. I was hoping to actually see that done on a machine. If I wanted to actually stuff it myself, as opposed to the pillow form you used, is there a specific material you recommend? Always enjoy your informative videos!
@@TockCustom Thanks! Just wasn't sure if people used anything else for stuffing. I like to see if someone uses something I've not tried or heard of. Appreciate the response! I've got some poly stuffing so I'll be using that for my first sewn-all-by-myself pillow!
i have lots of old concert t-shirts i was thinking of making into pillow covers, but you mention NOT using something too stretchy. is it still worth trying if i can make some sort of allowance for the stretchiness?
how do i make my bobbin thread on the underside of the stitch stop bunching and looking super unclean? there’s a ton of extra thread on the bottom but the top looks good
I should probably do that from now on. I usually leave my tension at about 4 on literally everything I sew, then it's just a 2.5mm stitch. If you're having issues, you might need to tighten the screw on the bobbin casing (or just oil your machine). Hope this helps!
I really wanted to see you see the pillow. You said you didn’t show it because it’s very simple. It’s not very simple to us beginners that’s why we’re here.🤷🏽♀️

What’s a good sewing machine for beginners?? I want to start making pillows and selling them on my campus
Why didn't you cut right to the edges of the fabric. You seem to have alot of fabric wastage?
Be fantastic if uou did the smocking on them
Oooooo, that would be really cool. It would take a 10 minute project and make it a 3 hour project though lol
Beginner here.. what is attached to the ruler?
was always taught cut the fabric 1/2 inch SHort of the pillow measurement - ??
When closing at 9:10 its better to hand baste then machine.
