    I am convinced that health anxiety is a symptomatic response to chronic stress. It took me 8 years to realise I was stressed and to start addressing it. Doing that completely resolved all symptoms and rumination. Couple it with non-dual philosophy and I am out of the dark place and all of you can do it too. Light at the end of the tunnel (in a good way)! Thanks for the videos, the more help people can get the better, wonderful work 💪

      How did you address chronic stress?

    • @DavidThorpe
      @DavidThorpe 2 місяці тому

      @ non duality seriously helped but basically lots of slowing down. More baths, took a less demanding job whilst I got better, took up hobbies I used to enjoy when I was younger again (playing live music). You have to tell your brain you are okay and it doesn’t need to make symptoms anymore. The best resource I found was a channel called Pain Free You. It is incredible. You can do it!

      I agree so much for me it kicked in after about 7 months of constant stress and worrying about money, now I'm back on track a bit and being more disciplined in my day to day its going away

    I’ve suffered with major health anxiety for over a decade. So many of your points are spot on, I’m grateful to have found someone dedicated to these issues. Currently going through a rough patch again and need the support and reminders. 🙏🏼

    A couple of quotes that have helped me:
    “You are never without options.”
    “Don’t believe everything you think.”

    Through therapy I have realised that my health anxiety spikes when I am worried about other things in my life. When I feel overwhelmed by them, I turn to health anxiety because it’s less complicated and despite how bad it is it’s the fear I am more comfortable with than worrying about my relationships, career, life direction etc. Nowadays when I feel health anxiety coming up, I think to myself “what am I actually worried about in my life right now?”.

    Taking your masterclass set me on the path to recovery. Even with a rough year with a surgery and 2 cancer scares, I'm still moving forward with recovery! I've also noticed less sensitivity to body sensations, less Googling, more separation from the catastrophic thoughts (I acknowledge them and remind myself that I'm safe), less doctor's appointments and tests! I am proud of myself but I also know I can relapse if I don't continue doing the work. Thank you so much for helping me get my life back on track!!!

    Thank you for this. Small/big step is the not googling. Time sorts it out as you said, sitting with the unknown allowing yourself to feel. Life is beautiful so allow it to wash over you good or bad. Learning to let go and not grip the wheel so tight has helped.

    Hi, I've been a long time health anxiety sufferer, although I have ASD too which slightly complicates the sensitivity to things. Anyway just wanted to say your videos are really informative, and the fact you are off-script is something I wouldn't have guessed! I think your videos are very cohesive and you are a great communicator. Seriously, if I try and talk I just go off on tangents! The world need's more therapists like yourself with compassion and lived experiences :)

    Hello. Just discovered you. Wonderful information. Thank you for being so open about yourself. It's wonderful because I would say that everyone has gone through many or some of the traumas you've described. I know I have. And, I'm still working on the health anxiety as well. My PTSD used to get triggered just if I got an earache or a cold. Now, as you experienced, I move through the pain or whatever it is knowing it is only temporary. This is life. I can't keep comparing the "past" experiences to "now". Anyway, thanks so much. I've subscribed to your channel and look forward to hearing more from you.

      Yes I suffered with this for a few months , I use to feel it in the side of my neck as soon as I lay down and then all over my body, I thought it waz something to do with high blood pressure but my blood pressure was fine!! It was like I could feel every pulse in my body!! When I found out through comment sections like these that it was anxiety based, I kind of excepted it as that and it slowly disappeared and now I don't have it at all!! Hope it helps that other people have experienced it and that it will go as your anxiety calms down xx
