Malcolm Breeches is just so fun and allows for such insane skill expression. I'll always love that deck
Taking a big Breeches turn is one of my favorite things you can do in the format, especially in a pod with another blue/x deck, so you can keep stealing all of their juicy card selection and ping everyone out of the game.
Very well done video. The audio was a touch low to listen too hands free. Fine with earplugs. Many thanks
Breeches is my #1 too, since I like control a lot more than the game being over on turn 2-4. Replacing explosiveness with consistency and flexibility sounds good to me.
Absolutely -- and he's fun, too! I love stealing cards from everybody when I have a big Breeches turn. Thanks for the comment!
5:24 This is a very accurate description of the deck! Thanks for the shout out!
Of course -- thanks for watching!
Wanted to make a Malcolm deck as my first foray into PDH after seeing your Fastest PDH decks video but after I realized there were multiple viable partners, I didn't know which one I wanted to use. So this video was perfect for me! Great explanations, thanks
I'm glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching!
I've played a ton of games against Malcolm variants and Rograkh feels too gimmicky / all in on combo. Kediss seems the most consistent, being able to pivot into treasure payoffs. In cEDH and PDH, the best commanders usually cheat on mana imo. With Breeches, you run into the problem that you're trying to do something grindier but have to choose between playing the cards or lose them, which can be really awkward. To the point where you sometimes Breeches never really gives you a benefit other than extra land, which I'd rather have Kediss. I have significantly less games against the other commanders but Dargo is just so big that it wins games. It's got me playing with the idea of my own twist on Dargo that's more midrange-ish.
Great insights and awesome polish on the videos. Keep it up, my dude!
Thanks so much! I appreciate your thoughts on the various partners, too. I also don't have much experience with Alena, Toggo, or Dargo, but I'd love to see your take on Malcolm/Dargo if you put it together!
love your content, keep on
Thanks so much!
I've recently finished putting together my Zada, Hedron Grinder PEDH deck, I would love to see a video on your thoughts with that. I'm happy to share my list of cards if you want to see it as well.
Thanks so much for the comment! Zada isn't a deck I have too much experience with personally, so I'm not sure how helpful I could be, but I'd love to take a look at your list and give feedback if I can.
Are you familiar with Stein's list? He's the most prominent Zada player on the competitive side of the format, and has worked on the deck for a very long time. He recently made the finals of the Sanctuary PDH league with the deck, so it has a very recent top finish as well. Here's a link to his decklist, if you'd like to check that out: www.moxfield.com/decks/1JrVipgvAUW-LAc6PzHblg/
"You can go on a real crime spree here"
I do not comprehend, whatever firebrand archer does, it is not a "crime", nor does any card showcased contain the "spree" mechanic
Any deck lists for these or links to see the deck lists?
youtube randomly recommended me this video...okay, well hi
i played breeches one time in a casual setting (playing on tts and thinking "i want to play a pirate deck, is there any pirate deck in pEDH?") and i didn't activate any combo (even if i drew them) but i totally felt the explosiveness, with the first game winning and the second game letting the combo player comboing off even if probably he couldn't but casual is casual so we didn't care
"Explosiveness" is a great way to describe what the Pirate combo decks in the format have going for them -- they can definitely blow up out of nowhere. Thanks for watching!
