Wow. I have a terrible keskit dargo deck that i am now tempted to rebuild just for a chance to live that dream. Thanks for the video. Excellent as always.
Jonathan's whole Dargo/Keskit list is full of lines that win before turn 3, it's really impressive. Definitely a fun one to give a spin. Thanks for watching!
In talking with stein, one of the best Zada, Hedron Grinder pilots in the format, it turns out Zada can win on turn 3 as well! Here's a link to his decklist: www.moxfield.com/decks/1JrVipgvAUW-LAc6PzHblg -- go give him a like and a follow!
great video! I'm a MTG player since 2001, love commander and pauper, but I just started approaching Pauper EDH. Didn't know about CPDH, and now I want to try these decks! amazing stuff! thanks, I subscribed! :)
CPDH is some of the most fun I've had playing Magic in years -- there are a ton of viable strategies and commanders, everything from turbo decks to aggro, control, midrange, flicker combo, etc. It's a blast, and the online community is excellent, too. Thanks so much for watching!
I adore how straightforward this video is. Thanks, I’ve been looking to downsize my collection quite a bit this holiday, but I might throw together a CPDH for the giggles of it.
@@ankylosaurmtg I’m going to check out your other videos, once I finish this birthday build for a friend (imagine Alesha as a Falconer). I was wondering if you had any suggestions for a Spellslinger build that isn’t partner based?
I do! Crackling Drake can be built in a few different ways (some leaning more towards control, some a bit more aggressive/Voltron-styled), but it is, at its heart, a very solid Izzet spellslinger deck. I've also seen Guttersnipe and Dragon's Rage Channeler decks built as mono-red spellslinger, and for a spellslinger deck in non-traditional colors, you might look into Witherbloom Apprentice as well.
i might be wrong but i think the turn 1 with malcom roghrac is possible with a line that uses 1 cards less. Reckless fireweaver trigers of the blue artifact land using the blue from the land in response to cast the trickery charm.
Im sorry for hijacking an old video. But i would like to know how would you make the Malcolm deck more resilient if it is not PEDH but EDH with a $100 limit. I just tried to play last Wednesday in a tournament in my local LGS and my butt got whooped so much it is still sore.
No worries! I know Tomer from MTGGoldfish has done a couple articles/videos on Malcolm/Breeches in the past, which is similar to Malcolm/Rograkh as far as the combo is concerned -- you can find his lists here: www.mtggoldfish.com/articles/20-malcolm-breeches-combo-stream-highlight and here at the bottom: www.mtggoldfish.com/articles/25-commander-decks-under-25 His decks are $25 or under, so with the extra budget room I'd start by sprucing up the mana base and perhaps adding some more stack interaction to protect your combo lines. Glint-Horn Buccaneer and Lightning-Rig Crew are the two biggest creatures you get to add to your deck, so definitely throw those in. I hope those articles will give you some other ideas as well!
Hey, so I was wondering, how do you get around the command tax with casting Dargo so many times, do the sacrificed creatures and artifacts count towards the commander tax?
They do! Each sacrifice reduces the total cost of casting Dargo by 2 (including sacrificing Dargo himself), and that is applied to the commander tax as well. The sacrifices also track throughout the turn, so if you've sacrificed 3 creatures/artifacts at some point during the turn, that reduces Dargo to R + the commander tax. Sacrificing Dargo himself then basically pays for his commander tax itself each time during the turn, making him only cost R every time you recast him. This Magic Judges blog post is a good piece on the topic of cost increases/cost reductions and how that works with commander tax: blogs.magicjudges.org/rulestips/2019/01/all-about-the-commander-tax/
Great question! The PauperEDH subreddit has a nice list of community resources -- I'd definitely recommend starting there: www.reddit.com/r/PauperEDH/ The list includes a number of Discord servers where people discuss the format and play webcam games, as well as podcasts and deck tier lists. Discord and Reddit are also where people will post about upcoming paper tournaments. Please let me know if you have any other questions, too -- I'll try to help if I can!
So I've never before seen a sacrifice ability be able to be double dipped as a cost of a card. It's one or the other. Dargo requires a sacrifice, Lotus requires a sacrifice. Dargo doesn't say for each card sacrificed this turn he costs less. You have to specifically select the card to sacrifice as a cost. Sacrifice happens immediately and is faster than instant speed ie you can not respond to a sacrifice... so not sure how this first interaction in the video is supposed to work already. Unless I'm playing with old rules.
I don't think you get it. We play this format to GET AWAY from try-hards like you. Don't give us the dirtbag go-to decks. Give us something workable but capable of a Turn-12 elimination.
I'm glad you have fun with that! Not everyone is looking for that though, and there's no reason to take away or belittle what other people enjoy simply because you don't - that's what having a pregame discussion with your pod is for =)
i love the idea of playing that last deck and starting the game by saying "I'm going to cast lotus petal, storm count 1"

I definitely recommend it -- cPDH is the most fun I've had playing Magic in a long time. Thanks for the comment!

Thanks for the content Ankylosaur!!
Thanks so much for watching!
And here I was thinking a turn 5 win with my PDH Zada deck was fast! A lot of the cards shown are red as well. Maybe I should turbo Zada

Great video!! I have a Tor Wauki CPDH deck, but it’s nowhere near as fast as these!
I love Tor Wauki -- such a cool commander! Thanks for watching!
Wow, i have Malcom/Breeches deck, but it's too controlling, I was thinking of moving to turbo combo, this video gave me a couple of ideas, thank you
Of course! Thanks for watching!

Oh ok, thank you for clearing that up!
I cant find the deck list for Dargo/Kediss. Can you help me out please?
Here you go! www.moxfield.com/decks/KlfxmBzhXk-FLPdQ_3lgNw
You're the best, thank you!
replace the slug with ashnod's altar and the combo works with colorless mana sources.
Absolutely! Dargo/Keskit runs those Ashnod's Altar lines as well -- it's a really sweet deck
how do i get into CPDH??

Dargo does infact say he costs less for artifacts and creatures sacrificed previously to casting him.
@chelgoth ok I'm tracking now got it 👍 ty
