Great tutorial! One point for everyone as it’s been said but I had to search quite a bit for it: make sure to include 2 double crochet at the END of your rows going straight into the bottom of that first chain 3, THEN slip stitch into the top of the chain 3. This finishes the increase where you started the row with a chain 3 (acting as your treble crochet) and 2 dc. I found out the hard way that if you skip the last 2 dc into the first chain 3, you get a lopsided square. I was able to kind of fix it by doing a chain 4 and doing it right after something like row 4, but my square is still a little wonky on that one corner. Just letting folks know since it may help!
@@danaovercast8735 yep so to finish that corner you have to mirror what you did in the beginning. You had a chain 3 or ch 4 in the beginning to start out the row and get to the right height for your treble crochet that you need on each corner. Then you do 2dc to make half the corner and continue along the line. Once you’re back at that first corner you started you have to make sure you finish the other half by doing 2dc into that original chain 3 or 4 (your choice to get the height you like and that best matches a tc for you), then you can slip stitch to make everything come together. I hope that helps!
A friendly tip: In parts of your explanation -- the music (& drums) are drowning out your voice. It would be helpful to remove the music. Also, a written pattern would be **very** helpful!! 😊
I'm hearing impaired and recently discovered the transcript under the description. For me its easier than using subtitles since it's a scrolling transcript (I hate rewinding tutorial videos). But I'm on mobile idk how it works on other devices.
i wrote out the pattern to my best ability bc it’s easier instead of rewatching the video a bunch. here’s what i have: solid granny square round 1: - MR (or CH 5 and SL ST to connect and make ring), CH 3, DC 3, TR 1, DC 3, TR 1, DC 3, TR 1, DC 3 (should be 4 TR to form “square” w the TR being corners), SL ST into 3 CH from beginning to join round 2: - CH 3, DC 2 in same stitch as SL ST, DC into *each* ST until reaching the corner (TR from previous round), then in same ST [DC 2, TR 1, DC 2], then repeat until making back to original CH 3, DC 2 into original ST with CH 3 from beginning, then SL ST into 3 CH from CH 3 previous to join round 3+: - repeat until desired size is reached hope this helps anyone!
Your closed granny square is the nicest looking one I’ve seen. Because I have an auditory functioning challenge, I cannot hear your voice over the music. I’m grateful for the written instructions given by another commenter. Thank you for a granny square with no holes.
Just wanted to say that I love and appreciate the time you took to make this video. However, I did notice that you skipped a step at the end of the first round, which will also affect subsequent rounds. When you begin the 2nd round you have us do the ch 3 and 2 DC all in one stitch because it is the corner. When coming back around to finish you forgot to add the add'l 2 sts needed in that beginning stitch to complete the corner. I noticed in the comments some others were also having a bit of trouble with how their squares were shaping up. Once I realized what happened, I thought I'd share. Thanks again for your time and hard work. We really appreciate it. 🥰
@Brandee621 Thank you for completing the instructions for the first round. Without the additional 2 dc’s, the row is incomplete. Each subsequent round would make the square misshapen without those 2dc’s at the end of each row. Great catch!
