  • Some of the highest-flyers in NBA history brought their talents to St. Louis on July 4 weekend, 1986. Here's our report from their pickup game under the Gateway Arch at the VP Fair, featuring interviews with Michael Jordan and Dominique Wilkins.

      Different body and game as he went along.
      From a wiry, high flyer who could dance on air to a physically punishing post up guy. Who could still attack. And drill face up J's. Pick your poison.

    I’m trying to take in everything of that time. Looking at the clouds, the trees, the people and their attire. Just think, this was almost 40 years ago and the thing that is really different is the lack of technology to where everyone is really focused on what they’re watching. I promise you, that 3 year olds today will talk about how simple and easy going life was in 2020 and 2022. 1968 was a terrible year with the Vietnam War, assassinations and political corruption, but what do children of that time say? How it was all roses and peaches for THEM.

      @@CapitanJusticia Ha! Good one! Kevin Arnold started 6th grade in 1968. That show The Wonder Years from the 80s, perfectly captures what I'm talking about. Adult Kevin Arnold recalls life in 1968, but he only remembers his little world of starting "junior high/middle school", a baseball pitcher throwing a perfect game, etc, etc....all the other stuff didn't matter to him. That's how kids today will see 2020, "life sure was simple back in those quaint days of the 2020s, afterall we were only 4 f'ing years old!"

    Three greatest dunkers of all time, Vince Carter, Dominique Wilkins, Michael Jordan. You got two of them in your back yard in their prime. Would never see this sort of thing today. You can't get most top players to even be in the NBA dunk contest.
    And Dominique doesn't get his just due. He was phenomenal.

      That’s a layup if someone told you they witnessed you would call bs and say there’s no way someone could pull it off. Just unbelievable talent and athleticism. Much like a lot of the Wilt Chamberlain stories people think are bs are actually all true
