Daniel Cruickshanks I spoke like that when I was a kid. Although I had to read in class, I was never made to battle on pointlessly for that long. It was usually only once per school until they realised, apart from a compulsory speech when I was 15 or 16 for which I chose the topic of stuttering. Talking like that does not make you comfortable speaking in public. See how natural he was speaking with his friend. There was some stuttering but he was more relaxed and speech was more spontaneous. The actor portrayed it really well, just how I was at that age. I don't know what speech therapy is like these days but when I was a kid it was all rubbish and they were clueless. I had to do a lot of soul-searching to overcome my stutter, and it will always be there to some extent, but it's hardly anything now. For anyone with a stutter looking for advice: Be yourself as much as you can. Learn about yourself. Express yourself. Accept your imperfections. Stuttering is one aspect of you, and you are much bigger than it.

At 3:30, you can see he unnecessarily emphasizes some words just so he doesn't trip up and constantly repeat the same word again. This was so sweet! I remember back when I was in elementary, I stuttered as well. I still stutter, but I suppose I'm not as self-conscious about it as I used to be. But I remember having to talk in front of the class and not being able to say things that I want to say, because I would search for words that I stuttered less on. I am more or less a reserved person, so I was quiet either ways, but I believe stuttering did have some effects on my quiet nature. Anyways! This short was so beautiful! The effort the kid put into for the sake of his love, that's something we should all take a lesson from. And you know? It's really not about the stuttering that makes a person who he/she is. People mistakenly think that people who stutter are, in quotes, "foolish" compared to "normal speakers". But that's really not the case, and I've even heard people say that "the mind is going faster than the tongue can speak; thus making them stutter." Just don't think that because you stutter, you can't speak your mind. The kid in the short proved that. You're an intelligent, lovely human being whoever you may be.

How'd you improve? I used to have a speech impediment; I pronounced R's as W's, if that makes sense. I got over it with some speech classes back in middle school.
Who else just hates when the teacher makes you read out loud? You just keep thinking about not messing up instead of focusing on what you are actually reading it's so annoying :p

you dont know the feelings of being born stuttering, i stutter and i can prove it is hard, in speeching lessons, or when asked by teachers to read a sentence, even speech projects, poems.
Except it does. My brother has stuttered his whole life, when he’s at home he barely stutters, but when he talks to strangers or out in public his stutter is worse.
