      Congratulations!
      Clearly this is a sign that you should pursue a game based on the 1980's film "Short Circuit"... Definitely a sign and not me selfishly coercing you into making a game about one of my other favorite 80's movies...

    I love that two, awesome looking Back to the Future games are coming out at the same time. And by different publishers and design teams. Both games look excellent and each is its own unique game that really only share a theme (and use dice), but look completely different gameplay wise. This IP truly deserves the love and attention that these two design teams gave to these two games!
    So thank you to both Ravensburger and Funko Games, and their excellent designers!

    Got this game for the kids for Christmas and started reading the directions. I looked up halfway through and they were gone and I was still completely lost as to how to even do the first step. Such a complex game with, these two dice can replace any others, oh and the wrench can too and on and on. The directions had us so lost. We’ll try again with this video at the table with us.

    • @WatchItPlayed
      @WatchItPlayed  3 роки тому +1

      You can do it Pamela! If I could offer a recommendation: with kids especially, it can sometimes be nice if one player at the table already understands the game, and can just answer any questions that come up. You may want to take 15 minutes with the video, and watch it through yourself, just make sure you have a pretty good idea of how it works. You can even then try playing a round or two on your own - again, just to make sure you've got it. Then, you can watch the video through with the kids again, to help them get a handle on it, but you yourself will already be confident that when paying, you can answer any questions they might have.
      Modern board games tend to have a little more going on than older ones which usually just involve rolling a die and moving a piece - but this also means that everyone at the table will have more control over what's happening (rather than just letting a random die decide), and you may find that these extra choices (although they seem like a lot at first), will become really interesting for all of you to work through as you try to win together! And don't worry if you lose at first, that's part of the challenge. With the first game under your belt and a better understanding of the game play, each game will get better, and you'll really feel like you're accomplishing something together. All the best and have fun!

      It's not so bad but it needed a better player mat. The player mats are huge and could have contained a lot more information for what you do when you clear an event or return an item, and what you do at the end of each round. A little bit more could have been right in front of us for quick reference cuz we kept having to refer to the book.

  • @matthewneiswanger8821
    @matthewneiswanger8821 2 роки тому +1

    Hi Rodney, love all your watch it play videos they truly help out when directions are sometimes a bit confusing!! Quick question thou, on rippling dice you said all unused dice may be used for future selves.. when I read the directions it says “during your turn you may choose to place an unspent die…” maybe I’m reading it wrong but it sounds like only one can be saved. Also for Einstein tokens it sounds like any player “may remove an (1) Einstein token during the action turn. So does that mean if 3 or 4 are available up top, only may choose 1? Or could you use multiples?? So very every turn , if two people , you could technically have “6” actions? 4 of your dice, 1 saved from other player and 1 Einstein move?

    • @WatchItPlayed
      @WatchItPlayed  2 роки тому +1

      Hey Matthew, sometimes the videos end up being more accurate than the instructions, because I prompt them for more details, and discover things that got missed. This video was checked by the publisher before it went live, so you can proceed with confidence :) If we do have corrections, they will be located in a pinned comment or the description. Not near my copy right now to double check on your questions in detail, but if the video answers you questions, you can trust the video. Cheers!

For example if I have 2 unresolved events with paradox tokens in one time line, it means I have to take four steps on the marker, and if I can't solve those events in next round, I have to count them again? If I have a Doc symbol, I can remove the paradox tokens, but in the next round I have to put back the same paradox tokens if I didn't resolve the events? Hey Dave, glad the video was helpful! There are a large variety of board games on the market now and they span a wide spectrum of complexity - and the more time you spend with them, the less complex they start to seem (you may even find yourself craving greater complexity... which I know that may seem bizzare right now, but it happens :) ). Either way, whether easier or more complex, the important thing is that you have fun, and I hope you do have fun as you play!

      I think our biggest hurdle is that every round we draw 3 more event cards each, and unless they are action cards we end up with more events than we can clear each round, which is where the loosing battle exists. Even if we both clear 1 or 2 events/locations, we are still putting down as many as 6 events. The end of the round essentially always has more spaces to move the outatime token than we can save by clearing events, which means it's always moving to the right. Does that sound correct?

      It depends on what you are looking for. Dice Through Time lets you jump through the time periods of all three films, returning lost items and managing an increasing number of paradoxical dangers as they pop up. Back in Time follows the events of the first film, and has you concentrating on getting George and Lorraine to fall in love while getting the DeLorean in place to get back to 1985. Both are cooperative and both use dice, but they do these things in very different ways. Both game are luck-driven but each has ways to offset that, though from one play to another, the game can be really difficult or even be a breeze (if the dice and cards are in your favor). If you love BTTF, I think both games deserve a place on your shelf. Beyond that, you'll have to check out Rodney's videos and other sources to figure out which one works best for you, since they each feel different. Good luck! :)
