I liked Hide too!!! The characters really connected with me and i can forgive the faults. People really act like it's the worst thing ever written, but there was good stuff in there

We have so many books in common! I too had to splurge on those two special James S. A. Corey editions to match the tenth anniversary of Leviathan Wakes 😊 - Dome'Loki 🌈
I'm so impressed with how you manage to organize your many books. I don't have the energy to sort my fiction by genre. I have one shelf for unread books, both fiction and non-fiction in my bedroom. We have one big shelf for comics and graphic novels, and several with fiction, alphabetized by surname of author, and then organized chronologically within each author's career. Gabriel has his own bookshelf in his room with all his books and some toys, and we also have the non-fiction books in one place, roughly sorted by topic. I do like how you stack some of the books horizontally to fit more in. Might have to see if I can fit more books in that way. The non-fiction books used to be in our spare room/my husband's office, but at the new house, I will have the office room, and I'm not sure I want the non-fiction books in there (so many more of them belong to the husband). So that's a logistical challenge we are going to have to figure out once all the furniture gets moved in this weekend. In the new house, we have a room in the basement with a fireplace, and bookshelves already along some of the walls. My husband wants some of them for his CDs and LPs, but we're absolutely going to have it be a library as well. Maybe the non-fiction books can go there?
Honestly, the organizing by genre thing is almost purely by aesthetics. I used to have all my books jumbled in together alphabetically by author but they didn't all look good together. Genres tend to have similar colors and styles, so they all look better together, at least to me. Your basement fireplace sounds amazing.
I love the idea of rainbow shelves, but I know it would make me crazy when something didn't fit just right. Instead I have total mishmash. Love your shirt.
I used to have rainbow shelves, and actually it helped me be more relaxed about where things should go. I got rid of them because it was too hard to find books!
It's not in very good condition, but oh well! I have like five of them now. I'm not going out of my way to find them but if I happen across one I snatch it up.

No - it’ll still be at least a few more weeks till I get there. Probably when the March Fairyloot arrives and I realize I cannot fit another single book anywhere. (Don’t show my husband the giant stack in the closet too!)
At the moment, in Berlin, I have more like a book table than shelves, but recently, in Sheffield, I did unpack my partner's book boxes and helped him put them on shelves, it was a lovely activity (but he owns too many William Gibsons he hasn't read!). He had a really nice Earthsea Trilogy edition
