My Dad and I barely made it to this game. He picked me up from work at noon that day, we rushed all the way up I-25 to Denver from Co. Spgs. without tickets. We found a gentleman who was holding up two fingers in an effort to sell the tickets of the people who failed to show. We bought the tickets off him for a combined $75 (basically two for one). He told us to follow him and we walked in at the ground floor of the north end all the way to the front row! You can see Elway waving at the end of the game at both my Dad and I because we stood up on a cement encasing and pointed at him until he noticed us! So cool, can't thank you enough for posting.
Can't believe found this video of the game against the Chiefs I remember going to this game on my 9th birthday such a great memory being apart of history such a cold game too
I was up in the third deck as a twelve year old kid at the old mile high stadium, the atmosphere is something I'll never forget. It was so loud every defensive possession, constant heckling of Marty Schottenheimer, and of course stamping the feet and making the whole stadium shake.
The Broncos were one of my favorite teams to watch during the 90's. They were complete, they had Elway and TD and then that defense. They were a lot of fun to watch and they won back to back Super Bowls.
Watching this UA-cam rerun of this good Broncos team, I am reminded that Denver did lose their next two games, although meaningless, to the Giants and Dolphins..... before winning their 2nd Super Bowl.... I am also reminded of the Broncos acquiring Dale Carter a few years later from the Chiefs in a questionable move especially the way he played in this loss to the Broncos. In my opinion this was the most complete team in Denver Broncos history .
Even though they lost, this solid performance was redemption in a way for the '98 Chiefs who were one of the league's biggest disappointments that season and had acted like a bunch of thugs in the infamous first meeting with Denver. This was the Chiefs team that everyone had expected to see and had they played like this all year they would not have gone 7-9.
Its sad this game is so unknown. One of the most exciting games in broncos history.. ill never forget how crazy that final drive was, and how crazy we got after the game winning TD pass.. ill never forget this game, or that season. Go broncos
Yes it's an underrated game that gets lost in the shuffle for some reason. I did think we were gonna lose for a sec seeing the D get sliced up but as true champions prove, you're never done. Broncos had so much heart in 97, 98. Losing those 2 in a row after this game then just embarassing Miami after they mocked us and talked a bunch of shit... then sticking it to Parcells and Belicheck the next week was so awesome. I was at that AFC Championship game. Got to see Elways last game at Mile High. Always remember. Football just isnt the same. 😢
I was 17 at the time, life long bronco fan! I was born in Cheyenne,WY but I lived in Wisconsin at the time and in a house full of packer fans at a friends house for the 97 super bowl! This year the 98 season,I knew we would smoke Atlanta if we got them, the Vikings were a little scarier to me,but I don't care who your a fan of,the most dominating team of the 90's was NOT the Dallas Cowboys,it was the Denver Broncos! This is facts not opinions!
I knew the Broncos would win their first Super Bowl after seeing Terrell Davis in one of his first games against the Jets with that zone blocking scheme. I called in sick working at the Palm restaurant downtown Denver because I knew Denver would best Green Bay in their first Super Bowl win. Thanks for the memories
I figured if it wasn't Rich Gannon (this time around), it would have been Dan Marino to stop the win streak. I never would have guessed the Giants to be the team (the following week) to stop the Broncos.
I believe at this time Westinghouse/Group W had purchased CBS. Paramount Global Corporation, the current parent company of CBS, is currently up for sale. 👌
And the next week the streak came to an end sadly. Man, if only. Can't complain though, we got the Super Bowl pretty easily that year. Just gets me that we lost to the Giants, who were like 5-8 at that point.
We NEEDED that Giants loss...and the loss to the Dolphins the next week to kind of re-focus. Those two losses helped the Broncos make the final push to the Super Bowl victory that season.
You are watching on a vastly different technology that can show much finer detail. (In other words, the screen you are watching on screws up the display, because it can't display the picture like old TVs could) IF you could somehow play this on an old TV, it would look great!
You could tell Marty's extra-curriculars were adversely affecting his ability to coach. That Chiefs team had way too much talent to be as middling as they were.
Those bronco all out blitzes on third down would never work in todays game cause of the wide receiver screens ....those screens weren't used much back then to combat those zero and heavy blitzes..
Tony G sucks in this game. Gannon is awesome.. damn shame he couldn't have been the starter for every game and every year he was in KC, maybe Marty would have a Superbowl

Sweet video. Thank you for refreshing my memory those were the good all days.

RIP Marty Schottenheimer. Elway was his personal nemesis.
The Good News, Elway can't haunt Marty in Heaven!

I thought they'd go undefeated. Man Elway was cooking and Rod Smith was soooo good

Steve Atwater and Alfred Williams ❤️

Agreed
I remember watching this when I was 15, going NUTTZ over this game!!!! Helluva comeback, 98 Broncos....Id put em up against anybody

The defense was so good they all tackle well 1 on 1 they bring the receiver or running back down

This may be my favorite regular season game. Maybe Cowboys game week 2 was slightly better. Been waiting for this game to come out forever. Nice one!
Elway vs. Marty- the final showdown
This team was legit

But that revenge game vs Miami 38-3 sheesh
At least it's not like the 2007 Patriots who were only 2 minutes away from perfection only to be denied by the Giants as well!
In the 90s, the Chiefs were to the Broncos what the Bills are to the Chiefs today.
I don't remember the telecasts of football back in the day being so horrific - I guess HD has spoiled me.

RIP Gunther Cunningham
And Derrick Thomas. :(
Woooow exelent back, love my team united in orange denver win,!,,,!!
Any Vikings games from this year?? Preferably one that hasn’t been posted. Thank you 🙏
38-7
Lol
The Vikings were the best team in the NFC that year.....and a lot of betting folks said it would be a Broncos-Vikings Super Bowl
You could tell Marty's extra-curriculars were adversely affecting his ability to coach. That Chiefs team had way too much talent to be as middling as they were.
This was week 14, not 13.
SuperBowl 33??
#Broncos but please put some Barry Sanders games on.
Broncos swept the Chiefs first time since 1991.
Those bronco all out blitzes on third down would never work in todays game cause of the wide receiver screens ....those screens weren't used much back then to combat those zero and heavy blitzes..
Those blitzes would still work depending on how fast the QB release was. And sometimes they didn't send everyone just Romanowsky
Please upload chiefs vs raiders in Oakland 2004
Tony G sucks in this game. Gannon is awesome.. damn shame he couldn't have been the starter for every game and every year he was in KC, maybe Marty would have a Superbowl
Chief's ride white horse b Jesus 😋💙💜💗lol
