I cannot thank you enough for creating and posting this video. I spent many nights at Iron Bog Lake in the 70s. For years, I spent each summer solstice there. The lake was often still frozen. It is my favorite place in the world, though I haven’t seen it in over 20 years now. The stream you crossed at 3:45 holds a special memory. A friend and I got a late start after work one June day and ended up having to overnighting near the stream for water. We discovered that if you go straight up the stream you will come to a small, fairly level, spot on the left. From that gorgeous vantage point, we watched lightening play far off down the canyon, while stars were bright over our heads. It was surreal. Also, the rock at 8:56 is what I used to call Friendship Rock. When I had friends with me, I would set up a camera and then quickly jump to the rock for a picture with my friends. Thank you so much for sharing your hike and bringing back such wonderful memories.

Thank you so much for sharing the wonderful story. Like you, we think that Iron Bog Lake is one of the most magical places in Idaho. We love your story of seeing a lighting storm in that area, I’m sure it was beautiful to watch. We are so happy that our video brought back such great memories.

Haha where Clint was walking on the ice, we call that point "Logan's Dropoff". Its where my nephew Logan went running out on the ice and fell through when he was 5 or so. Fortunately we fished him out but we never let him forget it. The other lake is Bobber Lake, the sign is on the big tree at the entrance but a lot of branches cover it. There's actually three more un-named lakes or tarns up above them.

Oh no! I bet that was a super cold and memorable experience. I think we will call that spot Logan’s Dropoff from now on as well, ha ha!

I believe it took about 3-1/2 to 4 hours to complete the loop and that was with a lunch break. 🙂 But, just to Iron Bog Lake itself it was an 1-1/2.
