Nice! I just bought (actually, rescued) one from a large box store that had dried, dead leaves at the edges. Got it home, gave it a little water and it's looking pretty good now. I live in the PacNW costal area so I hope it does well!
Does this tree look like this all year for you or does it turn green in the summer? I have one planted in shade in central Texas, so I’m curious how yours holds color. Beautiful specimen!
@@collinmcloughlin2574 you are in a really tuff place for all JMs. It needs sun if u want red colors but that Texas sun is a whole other beast so I couldn’t recommend you to put it in the sun because it will spontaneously combust, no doubt.
Btw how often are you watering your JMs in the summer in containers? I made your same soil mix (thanks for that vid) and it seems like I’ll need to water every 2 days or so is that similar to you?
I water every other day during the hot summer months. It’s hard because I hardly have any shaded areas in my garden. I water my bonsais 2-3 times a day.
Can the Orangeola take full sun about 10 hours a day? I have one in ground by my banana plants But i want to relocate to the front of the house. Would transplanting it this fall be wise timing? Im Zone 7. Thanks
You can transplant it. Try to grab as much as the root ball as possible. Orangeola can take full sun depending on the zone you are in. Zone 7 or below, you can. Zone 8 or above I don’t recommend it.
Thank you. I love the channel. Your passion for Japanese maples is easy to see. I have a English Lace in a container now for about two years. I think when fully mature they are unique in their own right. Im considering purchasing a second. I would love for you to give your opinion on the English Lace when ever possible. Your Orangeola has amazing color indeed. Thank you again for your opinion on my Orangeola. I will focus on retrieving as much of the root mass as I can in order to re-establish it in the sunnier front. .

Nice, you can post about it on the Maple Nutz Facebook group. We would like to hear the story behind your tree. Thanks 🙏🏻
Love my Orangeola too !!! Can't beat the many different colors of the leaves!
Brocade and Hana Matoi are also really nice.

I don’t own an English Lace so I couldn’t tell you. Try a Hana Matoi instead. You won’t regret it, I promise.
Do you have a Jordan?
Yes, I do. I totally recommend getting one. It’s beautiful 🤩
