    back in the early 90s i ran 2 12" savards with a hifonics thor amp and to me that was loud,now that ive gotten into cars again and alittle back into car audio i wanted somthing to add to my factory higher end system so im running 2 JBL GT bass pro12s and i love them,they slam,ive seen many mixed reviews but for me over all its a bad ass sounding system,i am in the process of trying 2 12" bazooka tubes for my other car and i built a sealed box to transfer the jbl 12s and both the amps im hoping it will give me a harder hitting bass note,i listen to 99% rock music,its kinda fun to be back messing with car audio again so much has changed,thanks for the video

    I see u said something about planet audio amps, I have a 2000watt planet audio amp and was wondering from u if they will do good with these subs? I have a small car and like the sound of these and I don't have 8 gauge wire but something below it so im guessing 4 also also had my audio guy give me but I installed my setup mainly but the question is would these subs work for my 2000watt planet audio amp? do respond fast if u can as im trying to pick subs and order them soon. thanks.

    Hey, this is a little late, and I have the exact same set up as you. Does it hit the low notes very well? I'm trying to feel the bass. what do you have your filters set to?

    Easiest way to know your getting true power either buy a CEA-2006 compliant amp or google the amp brand and model number to see if it has been dyno tested. Other than that you are just guessing the power output. I had a Kicker 400.1 that was certified over 500 watts. Now I am running JBL Club amps in my 460. Very satisfied.

    Would the subwoofer work fine with the Crunch GPX1000.4 amplifier and the Hifonics HFC1000 condensator?

    You can´t just multiply it with your battery-Voltage... RMS (root main square) tells you how much power you´ll get when you put that amplifier to a non-linear load. Speakers are inductive loads so you have to do some complex math to calculate the actual powerdraw from your battery :) (please overlook my grammarfails, i´m german^^)

    what do you think about JBL CLUB-5501 amp? it says 550w rms. the same as the sub. that should be a perfect combo right?

      it will bump alright probably, but in order to get the most out of it ME PERSONALLY would go with something that puts out between 800-1200 in (2ohms) in order to have some (headroom) for the amp and it will not need to work so hard, it will sound better and have more control of the subs
      MORE POWER IS THE WAY TO GO
      Cheers from SWEDEN B)

    So what is the best wattage amp to use to for this? Say at 100-115 on the 75 to 150 scale. I mean I see u have a 2000 watt amp, but is it a 4 channel or a 2. What else is hooked up to it?

    Stay away from boss amps, but if you power their subs with a clean signal they last awhile. I had a BOSS Outcast/ Outlaw sub and that thing slammed ! ! Took a beating for 4yrs then I sold it to upgrade the system.

      no its a metal screw, needles should be clear and the tip would be smaller and with a orange lining around the nozzle.

    not all amps have fuses on them the crappy ones do the good to great amps you buy the fuse block separate and hook it all up yourself do some research on here or the WWW and for the kind of money you spent you could have a lot better system for what you paid . you have it now but next time you want to be a boss do some research don't listen to the cool kid at school be that cool kid !!!

    (Volts: E=√PxR)
    E=Volt
    P=Power (Watts)
    R=Resistance (Ohm)
    Subwoofer Math: JBL GT5-2402BR
    E=√550x2
    E=√1100
    E=33.16
    So, to set the Gain for the Subwoofer to get the best (RMS) without any distortion you want to set the Gain with a Multimeter reading Volts with a test track at 40 Hertz and you want the Gain at 33.16 Volt..
    Amplifier Math: Kenwood KAC-9106D
    E=√1000x2
    E=√2000
    E=44.72
    So, to set the Gain for the Amplifier to get the best (RMS) without any distortion you want to set the Gain with a Multimeter reading Volts with a test track at 40 Hertz and you want the Gain at 44.72 Volt..
    Note: You see I got two equations above- one for the Subwoofer, and one for the Amplifier.. how to choose the right one for your setup you ask!? well that's the easy part- you pick the lowest number, which in your cause is 33.16 if you set the gain to 44.72 you would be giving the Subwoofer to much juice and you would burn the voice-coil(s)..
    BTW: Easy way to find out where to set the Gain for your Car-Stereo when using a Multimeter reading Volt(s) is to use the Calculator- type in the Watts (RMS) and multiply with the Resistance (Ohm), then you hit the button with a (√) on it, and that will tell you the Square-Root of the equation- which is the desired voltage you will be using..
    OBS: Remember- do not turn the Stereo Head-Unit all the way to Max Volume when doing this, if you do- that will cause clipping/distortion, normally you would set the Stereo Head-Unit at 3/4 or so, and never play above that volume afterwords, cause then everything will have clipping/distortion (Stereo Head-Unit, Amplifier and Subwoofer(s)++ if you have the Front-Speakers and/or Rear-Speakers wired trough a Amplifier).
    40 Hertz Test Tone for Subwoofer, 1k Hertz Test Tone for Front-Speakers and/or Rear-Speakers.
