@@alexissalguero5751I am not Mark lol, but if your amp only powers 400 rms, then I don’t think you will get more spl from the 12 inch. You need power to make power. If you had a lot of wattage power then I do think the 12 inch because of the more cone area compared to the ten inch sub. Given you have the proper box for that sub as well.

If you have a 500 watt rms sub it's good to get a 1000 watt amp because you will always be running clean power to it . If you get a 500 watt amp it might not be clean without clipping
I tend to always do something similar. I’ll get an amp that puts out more power than needed or one that has the exact power but keep it at 4 ohms instead of 2 ohms for better dynamic headroom.
Could you make a video about free air subwoofers? Some people have sedan cars and don't really want to waste space on subwoofer boxes. I appreciate your work, man.
Are you referring to infinite baffle? A sub has to have an enclosure of some sort in order to generate a desired frequency and load the desired space. Theres tons of different options if space is a concern. But just putting a free air sub in a trunk wont do much of anything if at all

I have an old kicker solo baric S10D 2ohm. Was looking to install in my car. Looking for a amp to power. What do you think of the Alpine S-A60m to power it? Is it to much not enough?
My general rule is to pick a amp that does sub rms rating plus 25%. The 25% compensates for impedance rise. That’s minimum. Right now I’m running 6k rms each sub that’s rated at 4500.
Agreed it's best to get an amp that has 50% - 100% more power so you don't need to run the amp at full power. Also, the best way to run the signal to an amplifier is with an LOC. Brands like Kicker, Recoil, Audiocontrol, and JL Audio not only boost the signal, but filter the signal so there is no distortion. Other brands can and do distort the signal. Not all LOC's are the same. By using a quality LOC your amp doesn't work so hard and runs cooler, plus you get better sound quality. Best money to spend on your system. The best amplifier is the 1 you can afford. As we all wish we had JL Audio in our cars. lol (Though CSS makes an impressive sub 4 the price. As does Savard. Gladen are very good too, just a bit pricey. Germans make good stuff).
