    You amazing, I was looking for this yesterday night since it has been around 10+ years since the last system i installed and was looking for refresh and see of something has changed. I do have a question, I plan to get 3 10"s planning to get a mono block stable at 1ohm however since its 3 speakers probably at 4 ohms that will get me 1.33ohms, would that caused any noticeable problems? I'm aware that it will drop max power to somewhere between max power between 1ohm and 2ohm. Meaning if is rated 400w at 1ohm and 200w at 2ohm, I should be somewhere around 334w at 1.33ohms?
    Apparently I had 2 questions 😂

    My general rule is to pick a amp that does sub rms rating plus 25%. The 25% compensates for impedance rise. That’s minimum. Right now I’m running 6k rms each sub that’s rated at 4500.

    needed this like 3 weeks ago, was upgrading one of my cars audio, has a 8inch parcel shelf sub, had a spare 250w 2ohm mono amp, got what i thought was a good sub for it, turns it was a dual 250w 2 ohm which apparently needs a far more powerful amp and either a 1 or 4 ohm output...much confusion

    • @JasonWW2000
      @JasonWW2000 7 днів тому

      The idea of a subwoofer needing a more powerful amplifier is a bizarre concept. Are you competing in SPL contests? Most of the time you're only giving it 20 to 50 watts. You can take your subwoofer and wire it at 4 ohm and you might get 100 to 150 watts. It's also possible that you could wire the sub to 1 ohm and get enough impedance rise that the amplifier will still work with it. That's one of those things that you have to try and see if it works. Either it will work fine or else the amplifier might go into protect or run hot assuming your cranking the volume up really high. Try 4 Ohms first and see how it works for you.

  • @frederickcrossley8303

    If you have a 500 watt rms sub it's good to get a 1000 watt amp because you will always be running clean power to it . If you get a 500 watt amp it might not be clean without clipping

    • @DJDOUBLE077
      @DJDOUBLE077 8 днів тому +1

      I always choose amps with more power than needed...at least 30%

    • @stevej6824
      @stevej6824 8 днів тому +1

      I tend to always do something similar. I’ll get an amp that puts out more power than needed or one that has the exact power but keep it at 4 ohms instead of 2 ohms for better dynamic headroom.

    • @JasonWW2000
      @JasonWW2000 7 днів тому +1

      I always go triple the rated power. Lol

    • @JasonWW2000
      @JasonWW2000 7 днів тому +1

      Going with a bigger amp is always a good idea because you're going to have some amount of impedance rise that's going to lower the amount of power that actually can get to your sub.

      @@JacobBitnerWhat's your budget? How much power do you want? Is your electrical system stock or do you have an upgraded alternator and battery? Why are you using a single 18 inch? Are you wanting it to be really loud?
      How many channels do you need for a dsp? 6, 8, 10?
      There's tons of options as far as equipment goes.
      One thing I can tell you is to use ofc, all copper for your power cable. Don't mess with CCA. The size of the wire is going to depend on how much amperage it needs to carry.
      If your a basshead, I'm not gonna be able to help much.
