It’s ended up brilliantly for us Lindsay. We did so much research, on both the van conversion and the layouts and pros and cons of each Motorhome that we liked. So in the end we’ve found a wonderful van. Maybe a bit big for what I was after - but I think in the end it’s the right one for us. 👍👍 Have a good week you two. 👍👍

Wales was so beautiful, even if only for a few days and we’re planning another trip in April before our big Scotland trip at the end of the month. I think we may look at downsizing the Motorhome when I get a bit older - maybe to a campervan as they are a lot more flexible in parking up etc. but at the moment it’s just been great fun - we’ve loved every minute. We took a lot of time deciding on all the pros and cons of this Motorhome, so it was our backstop when the van fell through. The layout has been perfect for us and we’ve learned all the tips and tricks to make things easier Every day and night out has been wonderful - waking up this morning to a beautiful Sunrise over the Welsh Hills was stunning. Dave, thank you very much for sharing your experience with your motorhome. I sure this information will be very helpful for all who are thinking about purchasing a motorhome. When I was young and my wife and I hand our travel trailer/caravan, we would tow it, drop it and we hand my Suburban or Conversion Van for our sightseeing and such. These days I think a motor home would be far less work and better for us… just have and drive to a nice destination and simply camp at a campsite. Thank you so much for sharing this with us, and I’m looking forward to your adventures in Spring & Summer. Thank you George. Yes we’re loving being able to get out in the van. We did wonder what we would do for travel once we had parked up. But we’re doing fine. We are off this week to a little farm in Suffolk. We will use footpaths to get into towns or villages and take a bus to get further afield I think if we had a car we wouldn’t walk as far so it’s doing us good 😃 Anyway, hope you have a wonderful week ahead - the Spring is finally showing its beautiful face over here.

My cousin Wayne, had a small trailer he towed behind his Camp Van, and he would take two motor scooters that we used on extended trips in the National Parks. We used them for visiting places far out, going into town for provisions. I loved riding them in the park, but in town I was often nervous in traffic. I wasn’t worried about my driving… I was worried about the many crazy dangerous drivers in cars and trucks! 🤣 We’re all well, and thank you my friend.

Use our Bailey autograph all yr round , and bundles in the winter . Can’t fault the Bailey vans imo . Aldi heating is excellent , water heats up very quickly , love being in our van in the cold winter months . Enjoy your trips guys .
Hiya Jay. Yep we do love our Adamo. Same as you we’ve just been out all over the place throughout the year. Loved it in the Lakes in a blizzard. We looked at an Autograph, but in the end an Adamo suddenly appeared at our local dealer so that was it! 😃. We have up plated as the payload was rubbish but other than that and the Bailey Whistle it’s been brilliant. Off to Europe for a month tomorrow 👍👍 Safe travels mate.
I found myself thinking that if your first 6 months (5) of your van life was here in the US you could have missed some of that cold, nasty weather, Dave and Sue. But where would the fun be in that? 😎😎 Shame about the squealing sky roof, but at least it was a known problem that they could fix under warranty. You're just getting it broke in and many more fun times to come! Thanks for bringing us along.
Thanks guys. We’re loving it And it’s a good point about the US and here regarding temperatures. A lot of Motorhomers from here travel down to Spain in the Winter and we are planning to go in January next year for the month. And then be back for the start of Spring. This is giving us so many options. We’ve travelled to new places in the UK and we wake up to the best views! Just watching the Sun rise as I write Thanks Dave and Kathy - very kind of you. We learned so much when we were deciding on the type of van, and we’ve learned so much since we’ve had it Ivor. The weight thing is where they allow 75kg for the driver in calculating how much you have left to the maximum. Which meant I needed to lose weight or we increased the GVW. Guess which one won 😃😃

Good that all is fairing well and that your comfort levels are increasing on each and every trip. There will always be some little doodad that will need to be taken care of, a hinge here, a screw there, and rattles all the time! lol It's a moving vehicle, so things get loose. One thing I would do different now, that I didn't know then, would be to have an electric heater and an electric hot plate of some sort. Most times I would be plugged in to electric but use my propane for both heating and cooking. One might as well use the electric as you are paying for that anyway, and save the expense on the propane. Any way, it is all a live and learn experience. Keep up the great adventuring!!
Cheers Bruce. We are really loving this Good tips mate, thanks We have thought about an electric fan heater or something like it. We do have electric heating (and gas) in the van, but the electric never quite takes off the chill fully in really cold weather. So a heater is a good idea. And the hot plate too. We think we’re getting one, we’ve seen someone else using one and it seems a great idea. LPG seems to be in short supply here at the moment so anything that limits our gas usage is good. Plus we will be getting into the warmer temps any day now (he says hopefully) 😃 Thanks again Bruce - hope you and Otis have a wonderful Sunday mate 👍👍
We have the 75-4DL. Like you we have had some niggles but overall are happy. The Auto box is a dream. Think the seats are a bit narrow. We also uprated to 4000KG . The bathroom in ours is not great the toilet in particular is awkward to use. Garage a massive bonus. We have fitted electric self levelling which is great. Thinking about fitting a wind out awning myself. Emailed Bailey to ask them to send me where the mounting points were. Got a snotty reply referring me to my dealer. Also fitted refillable LPG myself. Checked and passed on my service. Only found out recently that my solar panel does not charge my leisure battery to be sorted on my next service. There is no such thing as the perfect van but we are overall happy. So glad you are enjoying yours. You are so right about the driving experience. Just like a car.
Hi Don. That’s good that you’ve done some of the work yourself. We’ve had to go through the dealer. Our dealer apologised for Bailey - took ages to get “authorisation” for the snagging. But like you, overall we love the van. We’ve had so much fun and a lots of laughs - I think if you expect a few issues that will get resolved, then it’s an enjoyable experience. Hi Nicola. Thanks very much 🙏🙏 Yes you do need the C1 licence I do have it, but at age 70 you have to have a medical test to renew it. We may keep the Motorhome then, and take the medical, or possibly downsize to a van conversion (which we were going for originally). Hope you’re having a good week 👍👍👍
Hi Graeme - sorry about the late reply, we’re out without much signal. The dealer fitted a wider seal and added some spacers to the back catches. Has totally solved the whistle. Took us a while to get it sorted so in the meantime we just used ratchet straps to be on the safe side. If it’s possible, get the dealer to fit it before you take delivery although I don’t know if you already have the van. You will love it though - a few little niggles but what a drive it is!
I do But it means I will have to renew it when I get to 70. A few tests apparently and it’s pretty straightforward. The up plating has made a big difference for us. We don’t go much over the 3.5t but we just didn’t want the constant worry about the weight.
Ours had 5 faults on day one and breaks down all the time, the worst break down was the engine would not switch off. Ford had it for weeks. Current mileage 1300!!
Oh Pete that’s dreadful We had a few Bailey issues but the Ford has been ok. Are your problems the “usual” - injectors and ECU? Such a nightmare if you can’t even get out in the van 😡 We’ve been lucky I think. Hope they sort it quickly for you.
@@NBNatureTrailvan Ours was a fault in the gear box and loose battery terminals. Problems with the van included - Broken garage lock, damaged paint, door falling off, damaged arm rest.

Hiya Jay. Yep we do love our Adamo.
Same as you we’ve just been out all over the place throughout the year. Loved it in the Lakes in a blizzard.
We looked at an Autograph, but in the end an Adamo suddenly appeared at our local dealer so that was it! 😃. We have up plated as the payload was rubbish but other than that and the Bailey Whistle it’s been brilliant.
Off to Europe for a month tomorrow 👍👍

I found myself thinking that if your first 6 months (5) of your van life was here in the US you could have missed some of that cold, nasty weather, Dave and Sue. But where would the fun be in that? 😎😎 Shame about the squealing sky roof, but at least it was a known problem that they could fix under warranty. You're just getting it broke in and many more fun times to come! Thanks for bringing us along.

A lot of Motorhomers from here travel down to Spain in the Winter and we are planning to go in January next year for the month. And then be back for the start of Spring.
This is giving us so many options. We’ve travelled to new places in the UK and we wake up to the best views! Just watching the Sun rise as I write

Lovely video Dave, I couldn’t buy a van unless I shed more than a few pounds😂, the pros and cons you gave us was really informative and taking the plunge on buying one it seems was a wise decision enriching your travels and life in general.

We learned so much when we were deciding on the type of van, and we’ve learned so much since we’ve had it Ivor.
The weight thing is where they allow 75kg for the driver in calculating how much you have left to the maximum. Which meant I needed to lose weight or we increased the GVW. Guess which one won 😃😃

@@NBNatureTrailvan hi your sun roof is no fixed your dealer should have installed a bigger seal and also add more spacer to the latches you should not need to tie it to the lights We have had our Adamo for nearly 2 years

Yes we have had our dealer fit the bigger seal now. But for some reason I still like to have the straps on to be sure 😃

I agree about Bailey based on what others had said. Luckily our dealer is really helpful 👍
Good that all is fairing well and that your comfort levels are increasing on each and every trip. There will always be some little doodad that will need to be taken care of, a hinge here, a screw there, and rattles all the time! lol It's a moving vehicle, so things get loose. One thing I would do different now, that I didn't know then, would be to have an electric heater and an electric hot plate of some sort. Most times I would be plugged in to electric but use my propane for both heating and cooking. One might as well use the electric as you are paying for that anyway, and save the expense on the propane. Any way, it is all a live and learn experience. Keep up the great adventuring!!

We have thought about an electric fan heater or something like it. We do have electric heating (and gas) in the van, but the electric never quite takes off the chill fully in really cold weather. So a heater is a good idea.
And the hot plate too. We think we’re getting one, we’ve seen someone else using one and it seems a great idea.
LPG seems to be in short supply here at the moment so anything that limits our gas usage is good. Plus we will be getting into the warmer temps any day now (he says hopefully) 😃

We have the 75-4DL. Like you we have had some niggles but overall are happy. The Auto box is a dream. Think the seats are a bit narrow. We also uprated to 4000KG . The bathroom in ours is not great the toilet in particular is awkward to use. Garage a massive bonus. We have fitted electric self levelling which is great. Thinking about fitting a wind out awning myself. Emailed Bailey to ask them to send me where the mounting points were. Got a snotty reply referring me to my dealer. Also fitted refillable LPG myself. Checked and passed on my service. Only found out recently that my solar panel does not charge my leisure battery to be sorted on my next service. There is no such thing as the perfect van but we are overall happy. So glad you are enjoying yours. You are so right about the driving experience. Just like a car.
Hi Don. That’s good that you’ve done some of the work yourself. We’ve had to go through the dealer. Our dealer apologised for Bailey - took ages to get “authorisation” for the snagging.
But like you, overall we love the van. We’ve had so much fun and a lots of laughs - I think if you expect a few issues that will get resolved, then it’s an enjoyable experience.

Yes you do need the C1 licence
I do have it, but at age 70 you have to have a medical test to renew it.
We may keep the Motorhome then, and take the medical, or possibly downsize to a van conversion (which we were going for originally).

Just about to buy a 69-4 Adamo. Would love to know what your dealer did to sort the skylight whistle. Just so I know if we experience the same issue.
Hi Graeme - sorry about the late reply, we’re out without much signal.
The dealer fitted a wider seal and added some spacers to the back catches. Has totally solved the whistle. Took us a while to get it sorted so in the meantime we just used ratchet straps to be on the safe side.
If it’s possible, get the dealer to fit it before you take delivery although I don’t know if you already have the van.
You will love it though - a few little niggles but what a drive it is!

But it means I will have to renew it when I get to 70. A few tests apparently and it’s pretty straightforward.
The up plating has made a big difference for us. We don’t go much over the 3.5t but we just didn’t want the constant worry about the weight.
Ours had 5 faults on day one and breaks down all the time, the worst break down was the engine would not switch off. Ford had it for weeks. Current mileage 1300!!

We had a few Bailey issues but the Ford has been ok. Are your problems the “usual” - injectors and ECU?
Such a nightmare if you can’t even get out in the van 😡

@@NBNatureTrailvan Ours was a fault in the gear box and loose battery terminals. Problems with the van included - Broken garage lock, damaged paint, door falling off, damaged arm rest.
Did you already have a C1 licence for uprating the weight.

Yes I did. So I’m ok til I’m 70 and then will have to take the tests or decide whether to downsize or down plate the current van again 👍
@@NBNatureTrailvan Thanks for that, it's just that I am over seventy and although driving HGV for years I find myself unable to drive a small Motorhome without a load of red tape or whatever you what to call it.
yes but from the age of seventy it was automatically removed, and to get it back is just not worth the hassle for me.
