-1st thing i did was measure where the grips would go. They mainly tell where the switch gear will be placed. -Then I place some masking tape (or any kind of tape that marks easily) on the bars. -Then I place the switch gear. I estimate how i want it placed (rotation, distance etc.) or you could also refer to how it looked like stock. Your call! -Then I tighten it just enough for the buttons or tabs in the switch gear to make a mark on the tape. Then I remove the switch gear again. -The marks left on the tape indicate where I should drill the holes on the bars. This would place the switch gear exactly where I initially placed them I hope this isn't too confusing!! Jakethegardensnake has a comprehensive tutorial on this.
Is the fit same on first gen then 2nd gen? I feel like I sit way too much upwards on my mt07, I kinda want more on a sport bike feel like I had on my old mt125 because sitting with my stretch in my back hurts on longer rides so I was looking on getting a lower grip
Hey mate how did you remove the two little brackets from the protapers that the crossbar is connected to? And so you have any issues with the cables reaching or it all went back together smoothly?
Stock length of the cables worked perfectly fine! had no problem with that :) For the crossbar brackets, I had to force it open just a tad to remove it. It was held on by a strong glue as well so it’s safe to say you’ll get a few residue marks and minor scratches if you remove the brackets :) I’d say it’s only possible to remove the brackets on a Carmichael since the bend is fairly flat. On other bends, it may be impossible to remove it. 😕
@@nathanvitnell7854 -the stock clutch lever clamp is a pain to insert on protaper bars since the bars are serrated. You have to carefully pry the clutch clamp open and use plenty of lube to insert the bars through the clamp -if you plan on drilling holes on your bars, don’t use electrical tape to mark your holes. Electrical tape tends to stretch and move about so the initial hole marks you make may end up moving a tad. -use a small drill bit first to make your pilot hole before using the actual size drill bit to prevent it from dancing around while drilling You can also refer to jake thegardensnake’s video for a more in-depth explanation :) Enjoy swapping bars, mate!
@@dndmotoph1418 thanks alot for the feedback, will definitely come in handy. Did you have any suggestions for removing the stock grip off the clutch side? As I was hoping to reuse mine like you did. Cheers man
@@nathanvitnell7854 oh! I used an icepick on mine to get in between the grip and bars to release the glue, being careful not to damage the insides of the grip. Once the glue lets go on all sides, you can slowly pull the grip out 😃
Bro thanks for the demo. Just wondering where did you get that pro taper? I've been looking online, revzilla doesn't ship due to restrictions, chapmoto is exclusive only in the US, and the list goes on. Dan's bike shop is out of stock. Do you have other suggestions where to get the genuine ones? Thanks..
Yeahh it’s actually really difficult to get one shipped here :( I ordered from amazon and had it shipped to the Philippines. Took about 2 weeks to arrive
What was the torque settings for the crash bungs. Thanks
Enough so they don’t fall off
Nice video. Is the handlebar diameter in the clamping area also 7/8 inch og 1-1/8 inch 🙂
hey
did you put bar weights at the end or you ride without them ?
Great vid. Can I ask what's the best method for figuring out where to drill the holes for the switch gear (ignition switch/indicators)?

Have you found a solution yet? I too switched from a MT-125 to a MT-07 and am looking to change the handlebars...
@@alessandro.marinoni No, I never ended up changing them
