I'm going to give this a go. Purchased a barn find Kawasaki triple. Looks like the previous owner couldn't start it one day then parked it in the shed for decades. Yes, I know what people say about not using acid on aluminum engine parts, but I doused it over and over again with gallons of muriatic acid, wheel cleaner and cans of brake cleaner, and finally got rid of most of the corrosion and crud between the fins. The acid does work. Saturate the engine, then let it sit, then keep putting it on until the area between the fins are crud free. It will leave a white haze, but keep dousing it and then spay it will soda water when you're satisfied with the results. Now, it's time to try the electric knife method to do the final cleaning, and it sounds promising.
Ingenious! I have an electric knife sitting in my garage I use to cut foam. I think I can rig something up!
