i kinda want to see a medium sized older sibling for the vulture with two huge hardpoints and nothing else. call it the Harpy the angrier older sibling of the vulture.
While it's not charming like some of the other small ships, I think the Vulture does have a very distinct personality. It's a pit bull - a scrappy little beast that punches way above its weight class and doesn't think twice about attacking something far larger than itself. It wants to fight, and it wants you to win. I completely agree that power is its big shortcoming, but heat can also be a problem even in a reasonable build. It's not just you.
I remember flying it before engineering and then it truly was a balancing act but with one multicannon and one burst laser it could still punch above its weight. Add even a little bit of engineering and it becomes a beast.
I just didn't like the Vulture because of the terrible jump range, but after I added a Guardian Booster module it became "good enough" in its weakest area and then I found it much more enjoyable. One use for it is Odyssey ground missions where you can bounty hunt targets of opportunity on the way there and back. I also like Gaming's config of plasma accelerator + beam laser best for weapon load out. Beam laser makes short work of shields, and plasma accelerator makes short work of everything else. Since hitting small ships with fixed weapons is beyond me, I use a gimbled beam laser so I can handle the small targets I wouldn't be able to hit otherwise.
You're not wrong, I love going out in my Eagle, getting on an enemy's 6 and having my way with them all the while trying NOT to screw up and be dead VS the Vulture which let's be honest is a ship "That WANTS you to win."
Great review! This definitely conveys the Vulture experience to any new pilot and sets the expectations extremely well. Love how you did a comparison to the other small combat ships. o7 CMDR.
I did a blind play of elite for a long time. I ended up going sidewinder>cobra from there I was just flying around doing bounty in high res. After a while I decided it was time to go from a small to a medium ship. So I'm looking at the asp scout I see it has the same hard points, but I figured it was bigger and better then I see the vulture for 5 mil. I was like 2 large hard points so I buy this instead of asp scout. Now I'm flying around with more shields armor speed firepower. I was able to actually beat other ships 1 v 1. Then I vultured my way into an anaconda. That blew up 20 mins later, luckily I had rebuy. Got back in the vulture and A rates the conda. The vulture was my favorite bounty hunting ship.
Have had one of these in the hangar for a bit now, but didn't have the credits or mats to really polish it up. This was a good wakeup call to try it out again.
I love the Vulture, used to be scared of it when I started! I have all the ships but I regularly take my Vulture out. I also have the ship kit setup, with Midnight Black paint job that makes it look like Batman would fly it! My daughter loves it for combat too. Awesome review as always.
Great video! I have a hard time flying other ships and end up going back to my vulture. I rock two rapid fire pulse lasers and pop power plants in the CZ's
I'm definitely a sub-par combat pilot, so I definitely appreciate the fact that my Vulture allows me to get in a few combat missions without me ending up on the rebuy screen half a dozen times. It's ugly, & the sound is obnoxious, but if I just need to go ☠️ something, I'll usually take the Vulture.
I adore my Vulture. It takes time and effort, but get it fully engineered with two frag cannons and you will have hours of fun. The need to be very up close and personal for the frag cannons to be effective gives a different take on combat. When you get it right I do agree that this ship can be a little overpowered. I seek out missions where I know the target ships will be heavily armoured and gunned or focus only on the big ships in hazres. When I am in this ship I am grinning from ear to ear and keep coming back to it time after time
i made a chieftain first, then a krait ..and only then did i try this beast of a ship....now every other ship seems lacking in combat... this just might be the "A-10 thunderbolt" of elite dangerous. In it you do not feel like flying a ship that has weapons, instead you feel like you are riding the weapon.. so no, Core dynamics did not shoehorn weapons into it, it was everything else that was shoehorned after weapons where placed. and only after everything else was completed, did they remember they where supposed to have a place for the pilot. So they strapped the pilot onto it Mad Max style to the front, right on the grill! mine is called Kampfpanzer there is now an old movie "Armageddon" with Bruce Willis; in it Steve Buscemi (playing a bit deranged womanizer) sat on a nuke and pretended to ride it like a horse; when asked wtf is he doing, the answer was: "i just wanted to know how does it feel to have such power between my legs"
I have the opposite view of why this ship IS charismatic. There's nothing like pulling up to an NPC anaconda and out tanking it in something the size of a thimble 😂
I love the vulture, but I can't stand to fly it due to the engine noise... Drives me crazy in about 10 minutes and all I want to is self destruct so I don't have to listen to that noise on the way back to the station!
JESUS HOW IN THE HELL are you melting their hull so fast??!? this game pisses me off SO MUCH!!! I swear to god it takes me no less than 15-20 minutes per ship to plink away LITERALLLLY one percent every 3-5 seconds on a Cobra and I have NO IDEA WHY!!! And yet YOU just burn through MULTIPLE percents on a single pass! What the hell??!?

THIS ^
as somebody commented a long time ago on the pilot's vulture video: it's called the vulture, because whatever it targets, is already dead.
flying corpses all around me
flying corpses all around me
flying corpses all around me
i love the little bastard...
“I am surrounded by fear and dead men”

Being a core dynamics ship, me and my boys consider this the lost Federal ship. It covers the combat gulf between the Eagle and Dropship
For me it covered the gulf between eagle and corvette, i would not take any FDL over my vulture its engineered to death and i love it

Lave radio sent me here. Love the videos
Glad you like them - do love a bit of Lave Radio, although I'm a few episodes behind at the moment.
It's definitely a ship that needs the power to be engineered to get the full potential.

Hey mate, i saw you had to poasma acc on the vulture… how ya pull that off?
The Vulture is my favourite ship. I think it's perfect in every way.
As for the name, they should have just named it Death.
Come at me Holmes. I'll mess you up. You don't want this smoke.

Sir, I took an unengineered vulture to Colonia. 😂
Sir, I doff my cap to you - you're a braver man than I - stripped back exploration loadout, or full combat loadout?
@@gamingsnipsandbits I definitely stripped it down for exploration. Didn't have much of anything on it at all. Lmao.

A David and Goliath boxing match and the big guy takes a KO without landing a solid hit.

Best solution I've found is simply to drown the engines out with a hail of fire 🔥. That or selective hearing.
Or good battle music
Your vulture needs a mechanic. That engine sound like shaking a screw in a pot...
My Vulture has a screw loose? Guess I'm in good company when I fly it 😉

There’s nothing wrong with the way the vulture sounds, the chopping makes it sound like a cammed muscle car
